If you have not reported R32 result, you should do it before the deadline (1/4 11pm PST), or report who is not responding if that is the case.

frank0:zzmiy 8bd:8bd (50%:50%) on 4th set (Total: zzmiy won 33.5:30.5) http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=ARDCHALLENGE:f26ffaae.e759.11e6.ab15.0cc47a39aeb4-1485828418&u=frank0

Anyone thought about the seeding method of the first round of KO? It has not been accurate since event 3.
-
frank0 vs. zzmiy 50%:50% (8bds:8bds) on the first set. http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=ARDCHALLENGE:c17afce4.e5f2.11e6.ab15.0cc47a39aeb4-1485674147&u=frank0 I just realize the result of the set is a draw regardless of the format we play in (MP, IMP, total points)!
-
Good idea, otherwise this thread is going to be too long.
-
The event is over. Tie breaker: If the 64 bds KO ended in a draw, an 8 bds play-off (MP, non-best hand) will be played to determine the result (if still draw, the process repeats until the result is determined). From now on please start checking whether your scores in black are entered correctly. Scores in red are temporarily entered that way so that I can keep track of number of matches finished. It'll be edited according to the rule at the end.
-
In this example isn't it too big of an advantage for players in group of 6?
-
Summarize all the issues arise from event 6 so far -The big group RR structure makes it difficult to fairly deal with people whose opponents drop out. -The current rules dealing with drop out/unfinished match opens up the possibility of exploiting the rules. -Determining the seed: Only use the score vs. top half finisher (suggested by ovncylmz). -# of entrants already near the max. a few human can deal with. Possibilities for the future events -Update the related rule for unfinished matches. -Smaller group even for large number of entrants. -Start with KO even for the first stage (New problem, the seeding method we have now is quite inaccurate). -Possibly have BBO "month long" tournament to replace this eventually.
-
All the scores in red are temporary and will be changed according to the rule. It's filled in that way now so I can track the number of completed boards.
-
I label the score red (means it will be changed at the end), right now I keep the number so the match completion rate is correct. I think 0.2*100%+0.8*score determined by this method is reasonable, so that the 2 played boards are not wasted.
-
Is there any other issue besides this one? (I label that score blue now and might change later.)
-
link? and here is my link (I already input the result) 6:4 vs. gerardo http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=ARDCHALLENGE:05999431.daab.11e6.90ac.0cc47a39aeb4-1484433874&u=frank0 6.5:3.5 vs. gqc6 http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=ARDCHALLENGE:f8572afe.da7e.11e6.90ac.0cc47a39aeb4-1484414954&u=frank0 4.5:5.5 vs. karappe http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=ARDCHALLENGE:0ff399e7.daf2.11e6.90ac.0cc47a39aeb4-1484464386&u=frank0 5:5 vs. crazy4hoop http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=ARDCHALLENGE:6715c29c.dac6.11e6.90ac.0cc47a39aeb4-1484445634&u=frank0

A message from ovncylmz, he is currently busy in job interview and will play later.
-
OK this is the end of the registration. We have 55 entrants total, please stop voting in this thread. The format will be announced soon.
-
It's the first time there are that many entrants. I'm considering group stage only cut down to 32 for KO, if number of entrants exceeds 48.

The Group RR stage is done. Please go to the KO thread to report the KO score. http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/76018-bbf-challenge-event-6-ko-stage/ All the unfinished match at deadline will be assigned 25%:25% if both players are responsible, 0%:(60% or 100%-that player's average) if one player is responsible. Players who are responsible for unfinished matches without notifying the public will be banned from playing next two events. (Any player who 1. is reported inactive by many players 2. has extremely slow progress toward finishing the matched will be considered responsible for unfinished matches.) Group 1: stephen tu, nige1, mkgnao, hrothgar, barmar, ant590, jordanova, icycookie, gwnn , pio_magic, prasanna Group 2: olegru, broze, stoppiello, m1cha, cherdano, herzas, veryfy, bobhew32, sep123, Elyk25, tonywuhk Group 3: dadim, phil, toast1, jeffford76, ye17, nekthen, sieong, samboone, zzmiy, zenoo, xbabarx Group 4: ovncylmz, diana_eva, el mister, gordontd, frank0, gerardo, phoenix214, kfitz, gqc6, crazy4hoop, karappe Group 5: sfi, smerriman, chuck11, wackojack, jexa_, brigimon, kubiresmo, the it, geoffff, jkr_1993, eblenner Top 6 of each group and 2 highest MP 7th place advance to R32 KO (seeding: group rank first, then MP). Tie breaker within the same group: First by overall MP vs. players with identical MP, then by result vs. rank 1 among "others", rank 2 among "others", etc. (Actual rank first, then seeding when there is a tie not yet break). In the case of multiple set of ties, highest MP tie will be broken first. In the case two or more players tie and have identical scores vs. all others (very very unlikely) I'll announce the play-off rule. Example: Suppose a group end up in 59, 59, 54, 54, 54, 50, 47, 47, 44, 42, 40. First we determine the rank of 59% player by the match bet. them, if that is a tie (i.e. 5:5), then we determine the result by their score vs. highest seed 54% player, if still tie, then we determine the result by their score vs. second highest seed 54% player, etc. Now the rank of 59% players is set. For 54% players, first determine by the MP total vs. two other 54% players, then by their result vs. rank 1 59% (not necessarily top seed!), then by rank 2 59% player, then by their result vs. 50% player, then by higher seed 47% player, etc. Now rank of both 59%, 54% players are set. Tie breaker of 47% players are similar to tie breaker of 54% players. Tie breaker for different group, same rank, same MP: This comes after the group rank is determining without tie. First by result vs. group champ., then by result vs. group 2nd, etc. Score https://www.dropbox.com/s/cvxsir41d00lo1h/BBF%20event%206.xlsx?dl=0 Rule https://www.dropbox.com/s/7zccrt04p5jkw6e/RULE%20of%20event%206.docx?dl=0 This event will be BAM(MP), non-best hand, and similar tournament structure as past few events. How group is assigned (don't need to read, just for your information) Players are seeded first by seeding point (masterpoint from event 5+0.9*masterpoint from event 4+0.8*masterpoint from event 3+......), then by random number. Each group contains exactly 1 player from seed 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, ......, 51-55. Master point information https://www.dropbox.com/s/zasci0e4s1wjl02/MP-system.xlsx?dl=0
