  1. K1087 AKJT9863 7 Void You have too much for a 4H opening in your methods, so start with 1H at love all at pairs. Bidding proceeds (3D) P (5D) to you. Bid 5H? Pass? Double? 1H was limited to 15 HCP in your methods
  2. 3H shows either a solid or a 1 loser suit, so 3H is clear. I'm not sure if I get to 7H on these cards, since AKQxxxx would constitute a no-loser suit and trumps don't always break 3-3, but 6H should be easy to bid. I blame South
  3. [hv=pc=n&s=saj9hjt7da97cj432&w=sk7ha6dkq842ckqt5&n=s65432hkq532d3ca6&e=sqt8h984djt65c987&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=pp1n(9-13%20according%20to%20S%2C%2013-16%20according%20to%20N)d2d(Natural%20according%20to%20S%2C%20transfer%20according%20to%20N)ppd2hppp]399|300[/hv] There was much disagreement on this board. NS play a variable NT. In third seat, South claims their agreement is that in 3rd seat they play 9-13 at all vulnerabilities (any hand that cannot have enough for game). North claims that would be suicide to do it when vulnerable. NS can document that their escape methods from 1NT are as follows. If 1NT is mini (10-13 usually for 1st/2nd NV) then XX is a rescue, and all other bids are to play. If 1NT is strongish (13-16) then all bids are transfers. Unfortunately the convention card and system file does not document what range 1NT is in 3rd seat when vulnerable. EW claimed damage, saying that had they known 2D was a transfer to hearts, 2D would've been passed out. How do you rule?

Any grounds for adjustment, or is it just rub of the green? Perhaps should be in simple rulings forum.
  5. Partner was East on both. NS were not very good opponents.
  6. Last night I agreed to play with a partner whom I haven't played with for quite a while. The reason I no longer play with him is because he has this tendency to try to be deceptive on almost every board. Some examples: [hv=pc=n&s=s653h43dt732ct765&w=sa9872hqjt75dk9c9&n=sqhk96daq654cak82&e=skjt4ha82dj8cqj43&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1sdp2c2h3c3dppp]399|300[/hv] [hv=pc=n&s=s94hqt6543dcak853&w=skq53hk72dq862cj2&n=st86haj8dakjt75cq&e=saj72h9d943ct9764&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=p1d1sd2d3dpp3sdppp]399|300[/hv] Apart from getting up and leaving, what should I do in a situation like that? I've posted this in the laws forum because I'm particularly interested in the legal aspects of the situation.
  7. One thing I noticed is that Frances (sorry for bringing you into this) is classed on BBO skill as being intermediate.... I think that says all you need to know about BBO Skill
  8. And the same thing applies to my king of spades being a low spade.
  9. If 3NT is the wrong contract then partner's 3NT call was wrong. I pass.
  10. I start with 2C. I intend to do something later when someone bids shovels.
  11. I bid 3C here whatever. If partner bids 3NT, I think I say glp
  12. 1C. All forms. Intending to bid 2NT (18-19) on my next go. If p raises that to 4NT I pass.
  13. I propose an online game. Northern approach rules apply I'll go first. What say you to Tufnell Park?
  14. It depends on my methods. If I have a way to get out in 2D after 1C 1D 1NT then 1D is fine. Although 765432 of D is not so good.
  15. You don't try to improve 2H. 3C would show at least an ace more than you have.
  16. For me, 4C is clear cut, asking partner's opinion as to what to do over 4S (would 3C show this hand?) If 4C is a splinter or something else, I bid 4H then double 4S
  17. I had a rather harder problem with this hand. (1H) 1NT (3H) ?
  18. At MPs I pass and lead the club king, and hope to beat this in top tricks. At IMPS I .... will get back to you on that one.
  19. Yes, he could bid 4S. I don't know why he chose not to make that call - it would be the call I would've made.
  20. What would 4C be, if 3H covers all splinters?
  21. @ Fluffy - Normally after 1D 3D limit, North would look for 3NT. The fact that he didn't suggested extra shape and probably good trumps. Assuming opponents aren't lunatics, how many off do you think 5H is going to be? What bids would you make differently?
  22. My partner and I were playing limited openings in a strong club structure. I still only bid 2H.
  23. [hv=pc=n&s=shkq963daqj83cak9&n=sjt3haj75d9cq8752&d=s&v=b&b=7&a=1hp3d(Bergen)p4s(Undiscussed)p6hppp]266|200[/hv] Everything broke nicely and 13 tricks were cold. Who should do what differently?
  24. [hv=pc=n&s=sj93hdjt73cajt873&n=sha3dakq86542cq92&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=1dp3dd5d5h6c6h6sd7ddppp]266|200[/hv] This was our auction. 3D was a limit raise. Who should do what differently?
