  1. If my partner isn't a cheat, then if I bid 3C/D now I'll end up in game. So I pass. If 2H gets doubled, then I might bid 3C
  2. Don't have any hand records as I was playing anonymously. But GIB tends to underlead aces from ace empty suits against suit contracts far too often for my liking.
  3. Neither of these would be a psyche, playing 2/1. 1NT just denies the values for a game forcing 2/1. It doesn't SHOW anything in particular. Likewise, the 2C response just shows a strong hand.
  4. Hmmm, 3C I guess, not liking it. Where are the spades?
  5. Partner is in control of things, so I leave it up to him. I pass.
  6. Can I not bid 4H scientifically here?
  7. And that would've worked on the actual layout. West held S QJT H KJxxxxx D Void C QXX Thanks all.
  8. Here's the scenario. You have a messy break-up with your now ex-girlfriend and decide you don't want to see her again, and it's quite mutual. You're looking forward to going to a party this weekend. Unfortunately, the party is being hosted by a mutual friend, and you've now discovered that she's going as well. Do you: a) Cry off. Unfortunately, the mutual friend will know exactly why. b) Other.... please specify. You were really looking forward to going.....
  9. Yeah I double again. I can't bring myself to bid 3H here
  10. [hv=pc=n&s=s6hat5dakj632ckt3&n=sak42h7dt854ca642&d=s&v=b&b=7&a=1d1hdp3d3h4hp4np5hp5np6dp7dppp]266|200[/hv] You get the Q of spades lead and you win in the dummy, before playing a diamond to the ace. Unfortunately West shows out at this point. Any suggestions? If you play ace and another heart, ruffing in the dummy, East plays an ominous looking Q on the second heart.
  11. The key to slam in either red suit is the lack of wastage in spades, which given the lack of opposition bidding, seems somewhat unlikely. I agree that North should bid 2S after 2D, then follow up with heart support. I'm still happy if I get to 6H rather than 7D on these hands. It seems that opposition interference would help you get to 7D here
  12. In The Abbott's Great Sacrifice, a girl's team from Southampton University plays 4C here as take out of clubs and 4D as take out of diamonds, with emphasis on the majors.
  13. Partner had made a double on KQ109x of spades, not wanting opening leader to lead into a tenace position. Unfortunately I didn't have the full hand, but on this hand a top diamond is necessary and partner gets a spade trick in the fullness of time. If you don't, your diamond trick goes away...
  14. By my reckoning, the terms of service say that I may name myself in a post. I did so - I said the events occurred at the table I was playing at. I didn't name anyone else in the post. If I may not refer to events that happened to me, this forum might as well not exist.
  15. I too pass. Someome told me not to double the only contract I can beat.
  16. 1) I bid 3nt as South. Pass will bring +150 too often. 2) Yes, but then I opened 1S 3). I have an effective 10 count, p has a 10 count. I bid 4H and hope to not get doubled...
  17. I'm not bidding slam on this either. Although a couple of things: 1) I don't bid 2D as West, or 2H as East. If I double as East to start off with, I'm bidding 3H as West, then 4H as East. Making 6
  18. No, sadly I don't. From Robin's reply it looks as though the pair in question may be up for an L & E committee hearing. I was the take-out doubler. I didn't report the psyche straight away at the time, but I did report it once I'd seen the hand records and overheard a director call against the same pair for reporting a psyche.
  19. A lot of people go through a phase of this, normally as a junior. You grow out of it.
  20. My partner would be very annoyed if I passed RKCB. He might start punting things if he can't trust me to bid properly.
