I'd be surprised if this was anything other than coincidence... I have no statistics regarding the adoption rate for FD. However, I don't see how it could be high enough to impact the user base Richard I think it is NO coincidence. I think all posters in Forum now have realized that with FD such kind of complainments are re-adressed. The user rate is low of course - so it will be until we will have an option for table host - might be the same for tournament organizers - to secure a convention card is loaded and agreed.

Doubt you are right. FD looks nearly perfect. Dont understand what you mean by 'scripting'. All info comes to screen automatically. As far as I know thats the purpose of scripting and as I understand it FD is perfect in this area. Intervention handles is perfect. Disabling 'constructive' it works in exactly the same way as you see in defensive. So perfect too I think! I have problems to understand why you want to print. But print the file from your editor. It is all there. The only option I am missing is the opening bid 'PASS'. Of course it can be handled perfectly well splitting 1-2 seat/3-4 seat. But still missing and the only little minus I am able to find. This is in fact as looking for a 'bit of hair in the soup' and cannot spoil my great support of this excellent tool. It is what I and many others have shouted for for years - now our dreams have come through. To me it looks like all the threads about complaining of missing alerts now have disappeared. So either that problem has never been real or simply aleviated with FD.

I had 2 offline FD's running. I was trying to copy one section of the bidding tree from the Master to the other FD file that I was creating. The Paste button doesn't seem to be active on the second one. In FD only 1 card can be opened. You copy from one card and then you open/create a new one and paste into that. Simple as that - I just tested! Also, how do you select a range of bids to Copy from the bidding tree? All of the tree from the page incl. you see is copied and then pasted. Pasting into a higher level only those features fitting are pasted. Rest are deleted. NB! take care after pasting you must manually correct your bidding options if you paste from a ♦ overcall into a new section for a ♥ overcall. It is the same for deleting. So if some of the bids you have pasted becomes obsolete at the new position you go to the site where you see the continuations and delete. Then the call will be deleted. If no continuations you need to disable 'constructive' and then delete from opps bidding - then your call will disappear. It is in fact very simple and very quick to get familiar to.

Please explain 'tree copy' Ben. If what I hope for it will be very useful. I do a lot of tedicious work only for re-entering same kind of responses. Maybe in cases of overcall, asking bid responses etc. I often try to ease this in editor but sometimes that gives me an syntax fault. Looks like if a NT bid is switched for suit bid. Thank you Mickey and Ben. I did not know anything about a vuln. bug. I updated according the link Mickey provided and now it looks correct. Ben the line refer to Meckwell Club 1NT open. But I of course had the similar problem regarding defense for Gardner 1NT. But that also looks correct after this update. Thank you. It is a bit difficult for me to translate 'we' and 'they'. I am used to 'offensive' and 'defensive'.

Disable 'constructive' means you will be able to enter interference handle. If 'constructive' is enabled all bids assumes opps. to 'pass'

For those reading the files without intensions/interest in creating files themselves it is certainly an advantage that disabling 'constructive' is a default. By some curious way, I don't know how, I have 3 files where it is necessary to disable manually and 1 file where it is disabled. For that last file there is no option to enable. It is in fact the last last facility I am interested of. Anybody who will be able to help me to tell what I have done to have it permanently disabled for the one file? I like to modify the other files to be in same way -------------------------------------- Pity after 30 minutes the good feature has disappeared. Now all files again have 'constructive' enabled.

Looks like it is not so easy handle the syntax for defensive actions. What is the syntax for defensive? Looks like it is about syntax for qualify field! I have just made a new complete download of BBO. Now it is working differently. I can load all of the convention cards default from BBO but none of my own ones. I am not quired for anything but table gives this message: -> TABLE: NS using a new convention card. When I now hit the green CONV button I have a new option - to look NS convention card. Therefore it looks now as I am able to load a cc. Why am I not able to load my own ones? Do they need to be uploaded to WEB by me?

Thank you Ben. Once I have tried to test in a teaching mode. Then I got the message of NS vs ES. By that time I accepted and tried to see if I received any messages but unfortunately not. I played all 4 seats. I have never been able to have the confirmation message to ordinary table. I have wondered. I press the green 'CONV' button - then choose 'working card' and Bidedit application open. Then I on 'Bidedit application' press 'USE'. Nothing happens. I assumed it was OK but it looks like it is not. Something must be in it as it cannot be own card on my PC I watch as the card shuts down when I disconnect.

I played first time today using FD. Unfortunately looks like nobody but me was able to see FD-cc. No information sent, no aut. bids and kibs was also unable to see cc. I press 'use' button several times but nothing seems to happen. What am I doing wrong?

Bocchi-Duboin plays special for 1♣ open and 1NT interference. For 3rd and 4th seat open handle of 1NT overcalls depends of VULN. I hope to be able to avoid more info from the start opening(already 4 there for 1♣, 1♦, 1NT each, makes 12 lines for 3 openings). This means opening in 3rd seat independently of VULN but handling of 1NT dependent of VULN. Do I need to have 4 lines for opening in primary openings menu only because of this one specific feature or is there a smarter way? I would like to have a split not until the interference menu. To enter other bids for the opponents (indeed you can even have thme open), simply click the "SETTING" menu item and remove the check mark next to the work "constructive". Towards "chicken's" concern the file format will change... no worries there, Fred has already said he will make a conversion program if necessary should that happen... so don't be "chicken", help out!! Great Ben - I have just been able to enter opps.' interfences. Please tell me - is it possible permanently to disable "constructive"? It looks like each time I open FD the 'v' is back. I can of course disable when I create(no problem) but it also needs to be disabled to be read it looks like. If not done when reading then it looks like intereference handle is skipped. Richard I think you will see many different ways using this excellent tool but few using it according to intensions and handling it with ease. But that's not the point I think. I think the point is to try to learn ordinary players that a convention card is the basic way for information in bridge. Convention cards are always used by all good players and played according to. For many years now we have seen all the players claiming high skill levels assuming they are able to walk on water above ordinary bridge rules. I hope very much they now will think their attitude's over and act as a star paving the good way for others to solid actions. Right now I have no intensions to play and click the bidding sending aut. information. My intensions are to provide solid information and not more. I am a modest man you know! - But if it is going to be the standard to use the aut. string features I think my convention cards as I produce them will be well equipped for that too.

Gerben I think I have found a reasonable solution for pass-systems. I intend simply to insert an extra line for each bid. That is the same simple way I intend for bids with different meanings depending of vulnerability and/or opening position. If pass-open then that line(1st line) will be responses to pass open. If no pass open then the other line(2nd line) will be used for opening. I intend to insert the blue text as you see in defensive bidding. For fx. Bocchi/Duboin system I create 4 1♣ opening lines. In this case I need to copy all the lines as the responses are the same. I think it is very simple. I think people will be running wild if they need to determine from the panel aimed for it. looks like this(Regres): 1♣PASS: 6-10HcP, No shortage or 11+HcP,any dist. 1♣ 8-12HcP, Any hand with shortage It will take some time until I reach the point to write for pass systems. I also like to see if an opening bid for pass is going to come. To me it looks there is going to come some modifications of the system. Fx. it is not clear to me why opps' pass bid is not skipped in defensive. Same procedure as above example can be used for competitive actions. But also here I think there might come some modifications - so I better wait a bit to see if I am right or wrong. At least I can handle with no problems and need no modifications.

Right Luke - I intend quick as possible to convert all of my convention cards to the new format. I have started with Precision(Belladonna/Garozzo) with Roman defense. Both standard and super-precision. I hope these 2 will be ready within a week. I include them in my download files. Therefore you will have approx. 20 more convention cards with defense soon. I place them in default folder. Anybody who will be able to tell me how to enter offensive interference handles? To me it looks I have no option for that. In defensive bidding it is possible to state opps. bidding.

My compliments for the excellent convention card feature I have installed today. It is a hard job to create the convention cards but I think it is worth the effort. I have a few questions: How to describe the meaning of PASS. I have many systems in which you pass. I cannot find out how to enter pass. It is mostly regarding weak or trap. I havent yet reached that far so I have tried to enter anything about competitive bidding, but playing inverted doubles as Bocchi/Duboin pass is important because it is a transfer to DBL. For PASS-systems the pass-opening is as crucial as 1♣ and 1♦ in club- and diamond systems. Are those pass-features possible to enter? Is there any way to advance the card with a 'any bid sign'? --------------------------------------- I hope very much this impressive convention card will be helpful in improving solid handling. I hope therefore also a feature to come to allow table host to enforce the use of convention cards. Maybe so that you need to click accept to your own card before you start playing. Hi Uday - For several days now I have received mails with enclosure(75kb) from 'Postmaster@bridgebase.com' and 'Webmaster@bridgebase.com'. Looks very strange and I doubt they are from Bridgebase.com. I therefore sort them out and report them for spamming. As I don't open such kind of strange mails I am not completely sure what they contains. If they really are from you I need to be informed. The headers are in both cases a request for confirming registration info. They might be some kind of phising mails which seems to come from nearly everywhere these days. During writing this message for you I see I have just received a certain phising mail from a german bank - they have hard problems with that kind of fake mails there I am informed. Yours Claus

Czech does not look right Ben. I have checked all postings. Several references to SA and as far as I know Czech is Precision-land. The comments about poles(neighbours?) looks not so friendly. I stop speculations here. I think it will be up to the person himself to inform. ----------------------------------------------- What I think is much more interesting is simply why this intense debate in several threads? I have noticed no recent problems which can explain this. Where I play we never have problems and those tables I kibitz there seems no problems either. ACBL tourneys seems to have solved their possible problems too - so I assume no problems in tournament area either. So why this intense debate and why now?

I live in remote area, approx. 300 km away from our capital Copenhagen. I live in rural area with an elderly population. Here it is rather difficult to find friends for what I am interested of. I really enjoy the international community and especially I am very grateful for the many invitations to visit bridgefriends(approx. 1 a week) all over the world but mostly from Italy and USA. I am so very sorry that my poor health conditions forces me to decline all. I enjoy exchange of information and a nice debate with friends(opera and politics are the most frequent topics) - and BBO is just perfect for that but I still have some of my friends from ZONE. I enjoy very much to be informed by the young asians about their struggles for a decent living in countries where such is more difficult than in Denmark. I normally don't play bridge with those young and nice persons - but we often have a long and nice talk. Very, very interesting.
