  1. 1] no 2] negative X 3] not making the bid in 2] screws you so now you pass
  2. I don't know who is who (I didn't bother to look) but South is out to lunch with his X
  3. partner should only be Xing 4♥ with a value driven hand not a distributional one so I am inclined to answer your post the same way the other clowns answered...DITTO the pass
  4. well 6♣ should be pick a slam and given that the negative X was over 3♣ partner should have the values for slam to be a good prospect
  5. ♣ thot you meant 7♣ or 7♦ not 7♠ :D
  6. yeah partner probably doesnt like to show extra values either. 3♣ to be followed by 4♠ for me
  7. The pass is riskier at IMPs as you may have a makeable 3NT
  8. please reread your first sentence and explain how it relates to the diagram especially since neither the dummy or declarer holds either the confident jack or the ace.
  9. 2NT because partner's response gives me the information I want and I don't care about the opponents finding their fit. :)
  10. just call 6♣ and let your partner make an intelligent guess :)
  11. Do opps have any agreements about what West's 3♦ call means? Basically it looks like I have to choose between W holding ♠Qxx ♥QJxxx ♦Jxxx ♣J and ♠Qxx ♥QJxxx ♦Jxxx ♣K. I am inclined to play for the latter unless the opps have an agreement that 3♦ is preemptive in which case I would try the former.
  12. reread OP's second to last sentence carefully for an answer :)
  13. X and some number of ♦ is my only consideration at this point. As for where are ♠ IME each of the other 3 players has 4. BTW I am wondering if the opps, over 3♣, play X as support or negative. I would X, hopefully partner can choose properly over that. The opponents hands are starting to look like 4xy6 and 46wz
  14. you are already 55% to make 6♦ so bidding that can't be horrible however if partner holds ♣A and either of the 2 black K you are making 7♦ (I am not saying this is the only holding that will make that) so perhaps a forcing to game call (i.e. SA's 2♣ call) is in order followed by a call that shows a solid suit should help you find out that information.
  15. You need to grow a thicker skin :) Silence is fine but is in itself considered rude especially to not say at a minimum "hello." Anyone who adversely comments on your play can safely assumed to be non-expert. If possible, request the host to set hand completion rate to >95% and do not play with "new", the hiding place of banned players.
  16. 6♥ I'm responding like this is IMPS and if partner doesn't have 8 tricks at these colors shame on him.
  17. sounds like declarer is 5233 so I am inclined to lead a ♣ (the T to avoid potential blockage problems). I expect partner to be something like 1444 1453 or 1435
  18. and the WINNER of this week's "pot calling the kettle black" award is FREE {which is a funny choice of handle for someone who wants to restrict civil liberties)
  19. win in dummy and return your other ♠
  20. a Foadi (gwnn?) 6NT. the 3NT and 4NT choices are just wrong as 18+15=33 and IMO the other 3 choices are at best misguided. Edit: Okay the 4NT call is basically designed to avoid 6NT missing 2 aces in this hand it is not possible and so a control rich 17 is enough for me to choose 6NT
