  1. WHAT!!! You mean someone here has posted a bid that could have TWO meanings one very strong and one very weak. NAH never happens as all bids are clearly defined and only have ONE meaning :)
  2. That's it. I'm getting name tags. Why John? Everyone should know your poetry particularly "For Whom the Bell Tolls" :)
  3. well I think it should be a qbid in support of ♣. why not ♠? To differentiate between slam bidding I play the 1NT caller has to show support with 3♠ before qbidding starts.
  4. Generally I prefer to protect with this hand even if it is unlikely partner has a penalty X of 1♦ i.e. I have not been protected well in the past by partners and another pet peeve is partners not trusting me enough to protect and making an idiotic (latest example) negative X holding a reasonable 5 card suit behind a preemptive jump shifter.
  5. You are absolutely correct partner is not allowed to hold[hv=s=sqjxhqxxdkjt9ckxx]133|100|[/hv] <_<
  6. Yep time to break out the slings for a better class of insults :P
  7. I reach in my pocket, take out my decider, and flip it. :P
  8. Theory and sound practice IMO is NO overcalling with preemptive hands over preemptive calls .
  9. I don't know about the best but should be pretty close. Win the first trick in dummy play 4 rounds of ♠ 3 rounds of ♥ finish with 4 rounds of ♣ pitching the losing ♥ if the J has not shown up and lead the q♦
  10. you are ethically required to choose from among the logical alternatives not suggested by the hesitation. Generally that means you have to pass :)
  11. you missed the Forcing part of 1NT :)
  12. -1=-200 which is the "magic" number in MP you weren't planning on bidding game were you?
  13. well you are 55% that partner holds at least one of the major suit aces so slam isn't really a problem. I would start with 4♠ and over partner's 5♥ bid 6♣. Thinking about it more RKC could work out well just pass the 5♣ (see 0314 sometimes does have advantages over 1430) and bid 6 or 7♣ for the appropriate other response. Are you confident partner won't pass 4♠? Natural forcing 4C followed by 4NT for me (direct 4N for me is RKC for spades). Will try 6C if partner raises. :) misread the auction I thought 3♠ was an opponents preempt

  15. WHAT! How long have you been in the closet as a support w/support advocate?
  16. Hey you are in my bed :P The 1♥ overcall is not necessarily weak but could have anywhere from a normal TOX of 1♣ but felt the ♥ suit needed to be shown first to a distribution and strength where a TOX just did not seem right.
  17. yes you are pretty much forced into this corner since you would like 3♥ to mean this hand just like it would over 1♣ 1♠ X P but you have to use 3♥ to cover the normal 2♥ bid over the same auction. No concern about diamond wastage? sometimes you just have to roll the dice. When you do you try to play the odds as best you can figure them.
  18. I believe the terminology is "Pass is an illogical alternative" ;)
  19. mainly because you already supported ♦
  20. So how long did it take Phil to teach you Braille after he learned it? :)
  21. either your partner doesn't understand your bidding system or he is an idiot
  22. I would mentally prepare to lead the ♦K :)
  23. I would have led the ♦K looking for as many ruffs as I could get as I didn't expect success with a forcing defense
