  1. I am inclined to play the 4 tricks subject to change if anything too untoward happens 1) win Q♠ 2) win A♥ 3) win ♣ ruff 4) small ♥ from dummy to the Q
  2. South's bidding looks okay to me except for a nagging worry about opps reaching 4♠.
  3. what would have been the difference between 3♦ and 3NT as your choice for a first call. IMO partner would think 3♦ is for a major preference initially and maybe for ♣/♥ after 3NT. Whereas a direct 3NT would have had to take into account a possible weak reopening X and should show 2 or 3 ♠ partner is now better placed to evaluate how to proceed
  4. 1)A 2) leave 1NT as 11-14 change 2NT to 15-17 and 3NT to 18-19 3)A 4)C
  5. treating opponents with physical ailments in a different manner than you would treat other opponents is usually considered by same as insulting
  6. Thank you for (not?) answering my question? Frankly it would never have occurred to me. But then again that doesn't stop the opponent from waiting to play until dummy detaches it from the board. Frankly I don't think physical limitations is an excuse for misplay if you can't handle them you shouldn't be playing and that includes stamina [not that I would play out the hand as I usually try to end the hand ASAP]
  7. Okay Josh let's try this one. You are in a long team match playing vs some near and octogenarians. You are in a contract where you already know exactly how many tricks you are going to take but also know that the opponents can't tell exactly what is going on. Do you play out the hand to try to tire them out so that their endurance will be at the lowest for the end of the match or are you ethically bound to claim?
  8. So in the Tyler universe we unsportsmanlike if we require the opponents to "PAY ATTENTION"?
  9. So in the Josh universe we are required to discard an opposite colored suit?
  10. I agree with your choices but in 3 I think the OP was trying to induce a lead directing X
  11. 1) 4♦ I would have considered 3NT but am deterred by my QJ♠ doubleton after all the preemptor normally has something in his suit when red. I'd be inclined to try 3NT with 2 small ♠ 2) Don't have enough system information for a good answer but for safety I would bid 4♣ I expect partner to be able to take 7 tricks opposite trash and I have 3 second choice would be a riskier 5♣=3 aggressiveness=6.5
  12. It means "What is The Problem?" It's been Americanised to "What's The Problem?" :P
  13. thank you for the sim run. Guess at MP I will have to search for the 44 fit
  14. The shape is all wrong??? Basically you promise 3 card support for any suit partner has. I would X with 6 HCP fewer and the same shape.
  15. unlike many of the clowns out there who bid 2♥ with any minmal TOX hand that has 4♥ I actually promise xtra values when I bid 2♥ probably a little conservative for some but I think I need to give partner some leeway as transportation rates to be problematic
  16. If you want to find out why 3NT is right or at least I think will show up as right run a simulation with the 2NT bidder holding 4♠ and for the other hand use the responder's hand. I think the number of tricks in NT and making contracts will exceed similar numbers for 4♠.
  17. mainly I use it so partner will be free to bid something after the XX without really promising a lot and like I said I really want to be able to expose the 1♠ psycher so how about[hv=s=sqjt98hxxdxckjxxx]133|100|[/hv] and please don't tell be this is a mandatory 1♠ overcall I don't want to hear it
  18. since F1NT I would go slow with 2♣ planning on 3♥/2 and 3♠/2♠ over 2♦ haven't decided if 2♠ or 3♦ is best Edit -- Not being able to see the hand while posing I must have thought the hand was 6333 :)
  19. Nice remark. You've won the right to multiply yourself by 2.Pi, and remove the ugly bar in your own avatar notation :) and I thought that was Blanc's constant :P
