  1. Explain Do you think 1♠ is better. If so I agree. You cannot jump with partner's hand in my opinion
  2. The opening bid by dealer of 1♦ is passed to me in balancing seat. I hold: x, KQx, KQx, KQJ1087 Am I better to bid 3♣ or to double then bid 2♣ Partner holds AJxx,xxxx, xxx, Ax We need to get to 3NT if possible. I chose to double, partner bid 1♥, I bid 2♣ which was passed out Comments please.
  3. We had never played together before. We have both been playing for 20+ yrs. I am a Gold Life Master and he has 1000 pts. He has played very little in the past 15 yrs. We agreed to Jacoby 2NT but did not discuss follow ups. He played quite a bit in the late 1980's and I believe that at that time is was common to play 4 Clubs as a void. Our opponents had 5 or 600 pts each. We were both subs in a Team game
  4. Last night in a team game I was playing with someone for the first time. The bidding with no interference went: 1♥ 2NT 4♣ 4♦ 5♦ 5♠ 7♥ 2NT was alerted as 4+ Hearts and 12+ pts. 4 Diamonds, 5 diamonds & 5 Spades were all cuebids The person on opening lead Doubled after asking about the 4♣ bid I explained that we had never played together before and had not discussed what 4♣ would be. Opening lead was the Ace of♣ .Declarer was void ,result was 7♥ doubled making for 1770. They complained to director that would not have doubled if they knew that declarer was void in Clubs. 7 Hearts is cold on any lead. Director rolled the score back to 1510 saying that if at the other table they did the same she would then allow the 1770 score. The other table was in 6 Hearts +1 for 1010. Comments Thank you
  5. LHO opens 1♥ partner bids 1♠ RHO bids 2♥ What does a double show? What would 2NT mean? Thank you
  6. Where in in rules does it say that both members of a team must have identical filled out convention cards? What the number of the rule? Thank you
  7. I holding 98x, J10x, Ax, AQJxx chose not to double [right or wrong] 1st time however after opener limited his opening bid and responder denied 4 card major and limited his bid I felt the need to balance with a double. Maybe in future I need to be more careful??????
  8. The bidding goes: 1♦ P 1NT P 2♦ X Is this take out or penalty? Doubler holds 98x, J10x, Ax, AQJxx Thank you for all comments
  9. After agreeing to a Spade contract a 4NT is followed with a 4 Diamond response. After a five second delay LHO calls for director and 4NT bidder remarks that the 4D bidder merely pulled the wrong card and 4D bidder corrects to 5D before director arrives. Since the Diamond bid is Insufficient & Conventional, what is the correct ruling? Does 4D and 5D have the same meaning? Thank you
  10. Opponents open 3NT [Gambling] What should Double, 4C, 4D, 4H, or 4S mean? If 5-5 in majors and enough pts for game how is the best way to show? Thank you.
  11. I play at a club game where one of the pairs uses a "Kennedy Club" They announce 1C as could be short but fail yo alert anything else. I believe that all responses to 1C needs to be alerted. HELP Thank you!!!
  12. Declarer is in her hand and calls for the 10 of Spades from the dummy. Dummy and RHO immediately tells declarer that she is in her hand. LHO now [ 2 seconds] says that he accepts the lead of the 10 of Spades. What is the correct ruling??? Thank you.
  13. Bidding goes: 2♦ - 2NT - 3♦ - 4♥ 2 Diamonds is weak Is 4♥ a tranfer or is it natural? Thank you
  14. In playing with my favorite partner we play that if opponent opens 2 of a Major that a direct cuebid asks partner to bid 3NT if they have that major stopped. The question is what should a cuebid of 2D mean. I believe that it has to be for the MAJORS however some are trying to tell us that it should also ask partner to bid 3NT. I know that everything is partnership agreement however I believe that logically a 3D cuebid should be for Majors. How else could one ask for majors? 3D could be weaker than a 4D cuebid ----both for the majors? Opinions?
  15. I am reading that a 2 level OC with less than 10 HCP is alertable. Also if by partnership agreement if this is done frequently must be Pre-alerted. Is this correct?? Thank you
  16. Our bidding on his hand went 1NT 2♣ Garbage stayman 2♠ all pass I guess I might have raised to 3♠ I have a great partner we have a very FUN time playing together and love talking about hands after playing. We are trying to improve and get as GOOD as we possibly can. Thanks all for comments and opinions.

  18. [hv=d=s&v=n&n=s9xhaq10xxdxxcajxx&s=saq10xxhxxdqjxxcqx]133|200|Scoring: MP Should N open this hand 3rd seat? If so what is his rebid after a 1♠ bid by S? Our bidding lead to a disaster. 1♥ 1♠ 2♣ 2♦ 2♠ 3♠ 2♦ was 4th suit forcing. Result was -200 Thank you [/hv]
  19. Sorry, Yes it is ACBL LAWS.
  20. It was a UNIT Game. It was an IMP league TEAM GAME. There is a total of 4 games over a 4 month period of time. I do not play in the game because of the director and other minor reasons. I would like to play in the game in the future under more favorable circumstances. The "POOR DIRECTOR RULING" was reported to me by my past teammates. I told the team captain to carry a copy of the ACBL RULES and next something unfavorable happens to give the book to the director and say "show me please" THANK YOU ALL
  21. At a Team event the President of our unit is playing and the declarer accidentally drops a card from his hand and it falls face up of the table. The RHO [PRESIDENT} calls for the director whom happens to be his wife and she rules that the card must be played. This causes a loss of the match. It is widely known that director wife never rules against husband or for that fact any of her friends. Does anyone have a suggest as to what can be done about this situation? [ Poor if not illegal directing] Is there someone at ACBL that this could be addressed? Thank you.
  22. This was only the 2nd time the lady/director/owner had run a game. The previous owner had let people sign up on sign up sheets way in advance. The new owner has not yet changed this policy. I could go to the game tomorrow and sign up for TABLE 14 EW Jan 5th 2010 if I so desired. Problems occur when people fail to show, and when only enough people show so that there is just 1 section. The director must move people each day because someone doesn't show. On some days the game is started before director realizes that there are 2 half tables. Very poor I know but it is the only game in town. Hopefully new director will fix this sooner than later. THANKS AGAIN
  23. Today declarer in playing a 3 HEART contract revoked twice, once in Spades winning the trick by trumping and a second time in clubs also by trumping. These were both done early in the play of the hand [4th & 9th tricks]. Is this a 4 TRICK PENALTY??? Thank you
  24. We have been talking about Maximal doubles and I thought that partner would either consider it to be a splinter or preferably a Maximal double. Can someone tell us if this is even close to a Maximal double? Thank you
  25. [hv=w=sj9763hj4da876ca9&e=sq1084h3dkq9ckqj72]266|100|Dealer N Vl N/S Bidding: P-1♣-1♥-1♠ 2♥-3♥ The 3Heart bid was intended to be splinter for Spades or forcing bid in support of Spades. West took it to be an asking bid for 3NT. Comments Please[/hv]
