I open 1♥ and partner bid 2♦. Playing 2/1 how do most of you treat a 3♣ bid? Does it show extras values or does it show only shape? In talking about this among friends most say shape however one person quotes their teacher/expert [12000 points] who is very adamant that it show extra values. Holding Qxx, AJxxx,x,KQxx I would bid 3♣ not 2♥ Opinions

I agree also. Need now to bid 2♥. Partner will not expect more than what you have.

One of my partners plays transfers after 1 NT opener. So 2 Spades showed Clubs and was alerted[/hv] I chose to pass the double of 2♠ to show that I wasn't happy about bidding 3♣. I thought partner would bid 3♣ on his own or redouble to get me to bid 3♣. Wrong. Partner passed and down 4. Could have been only down 2. Opinions and comments. Thank you. My partner opened 5♣ and thats where we played it. Your suggestion of reversing with 2♦ was exactly what I told partner how the bidding should have gone. In fact your auction including minorwood [ we use kickback] was exactly what we came up with afterwords. We were interested if someone might have anything else that was logical. Thanks again

South is declarer and is on lead after winning trick. Both East and West lead out of turn [different suits]. I know that declarer can accept either of the leads however what about other card? Is it a major penalty card or is it to be returned to defenders hand? Also may South chose to allow both cards to be major penalty cards? If so what happens when lets say East obtains lead? Is East required to lead his card or does South have options [ Like requiring or forbidding lead of West's card] Thank you

easy 2♠ maybe 3♠ I would bid 2♠ even with 5 spades. Make it as hard as you can for them to find fit and you are giving partner a good safe lead
