  1. Hi all, The French bridge association links to BBO using a frame for the client and a frame for live audio commentary. Neat. Thanks, Dan
  2. Hi all, The correct bid requires all the pertinent information to make the decision. I see only bids. You also need hesitations, inflections, expressions, and table talk for correct sayc bidding. Thanks, Dan
  3. These might be automatic challenge responses with instructions on how to continue. Not sure I should post any email addresses here, but likely you will have to respond to that email without typing anything (and then you will get a confirmation email that your message will be read by a human). Read the instructions in that bounce.
  4. Hi all, My answer: http://bridgewithdan.com/articles/2_over_1_part_1.pdf Thanks, Dan
  5. Hi all, It's free registration to vote and you get to see the current poll results for each question though not sure our answers have any official bearing on the final product. Thanks, Dan
  6. Hi all, From the english text in the "12-14" 1C variant section: "I don’t recommend opening 2C (Precision) with both 4-crd majors. Practice shows it’s better to open 1C, and bid as if we have 4414 distribution." Thanks, Dan
  7. Hi all, The final sale http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=220525239385 (same as above) is about up. If you like Forquet, he's still kicking. His Passo a Passo column is like Bridge with the Blue Team (but Italian). I might contact him about making an English book of his favorite columns. Here you can get 40 columns, and coverage of Italian bridge in general, if you find that style interesting. In the meantime, learn some Italian, get some world championship books, read some Helgemo. Happy holidays, Dan
  8. Hi all, OK the main sale is over. Here is the next auction for the residue: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=220525239385 Description below: World Championship Books from the 80's - when weird methods ruled and Nickell was not yet started. (It's good to be Helgemo.) - 1987 World Championships book. Francis. - Preempts from A to Z. Andersen/Zenkel. (Different preempt methods.) - 1986 World Championships book. 14. Hi georgeac, The first job is to talk to your partner and find out if they have the same views on analysis you do, and I would suggest sticking to a plan that allows both of you to have fun. Once you have defined that scope, you can decide what to try to improve. To that end, it would help to have someone you consider much better than you analyze your online session records and point out any major flaws. It helps to get opinions. Thanks, Dan
  15. Hi Tim, No this will not affect the system documentation website. I just don't have room either! I'm not succumbing to Gitelosophy. Thanks, Dan

  19. Hi all, Whoops, make that 68 books (note 2 brand new WJ05 books, one for you and your partner). Thanks, Dan
  20. Hi all, I'm putting some bridge books out there (first house, less room, go figure). All are in good/very good condition with a few well-worn ones. Sorry, no returns. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=220521258914 Thanks, Dan

    books!

Hi all, Mike Lawrence is well known for reading the paper as dummy when playing with clients. I tried to read a Mike Lawrence book as dummy but got rebuked. He wasn't reading a Dan Neill book though. Thanks, Dan
  22. Hi all, I've heard of Italian discards as a synonym for o/e. But one treatment that is particular to some players from Italy is using o/e when following suit, e.g. by 3rd hand at trick one. Odd encourages, even discourages with suit pref. Not sure if this was wide-spread but I think it is not a misunderstanding by some players but a real agreement. Thanks, Dan
  23. Hi all, In the partnership bidding, it's handy to have switcheroo available. Currently it is not available in the web client. Thanks, Dan
  24. Hi all, Imps, Both, mini-tourney Pd opens 1N 14-16, you pass with ♠AT3 ♥-- ♦QJT53 ♣T7642 because you have no way to show both minors. LHO balances with a natural 2♥, back to you. Double (takeout), 2N (minors), or what? Thanks, Dan
  25. Hi, I use the latest BBO web client (with tabs on right side) and my partner uses the latest Windows program version of BBO. If I use the function "I have a partner - Take me to a table", shortly after I see him show up at the table assigned to us by the program, his program crashes with a windows error. But then he logs in, I invite him again, and this time it doesn't crash. It has happened both times now like that. Thanks, Dan
