  1. bump for contributions, plz
  2. That does appear to be what helene is saying. I just do not understand the logic of it. I never learned the logic either. I suppose it's along the lines of what Chris said. If I originally hold HSxx, where H is honor and S is a high spot card, like a 9 or 8, and I play the H on the first round, my S is more likely to eventually become a trick than it would be from HSx. So from remaining Sx, it's a little less dangerous to play the S than it is from Sxx.
  3. You say that as if they behave rationally and intelligently or something.
  4. xxxx in ♥ is the worst feature of this hand, and it's not even close.
  5. Breaking news: 16% of the GOP think Obama is the Easter bunny, while another 19% believe he is made of cranberries.
  6. Some people in this country are F'in retarded imo.
  7. Most of my partners play udca with standard remaining count or upsidedown original count the second round. Is that what Helene is saying?
  8. If 4♣ is ♣+M, this DNE imo. If 4♣ is just ♣, this should be ♣+M.
  9. just bid naturally. and lead trumps if the opps bid weakly.
  10. I think double has to show ♥ and 4♥ probably should show ♥ but obv there's potential for disagreement. I'd make the call I'm sure won't be misunderstood, though I would prefer to just bid 4♥ to keep them out a little if partner wouldn't misinterpret it.
  11. I know it's just bad bridge and nothing else, but it feels wrong to me that someone can psyche a bid and then provide no information at all about what it means.
  12. If one makes a "no information available" bid, shouldn't his hand somewhat resemble something or anything that the bid might show?

  14. Agree with Helene. It stinks that people don't alert or don't know how to alert properly in these games, but what can you do, right?
  15. Ya west should always pass after he opens 1♥ and East bids natural ♣ if the auction isnt at 3 or 4♠
  16. Every bid is up for debate, but it is crystal clear to me that north should double 1♥ and south should bid a lot of spades.
  17. she should have asked what the bids mean. then she'd lead the ♠A before trying a ♥ if it looked right, right!? even so, can it be wrong to cash ♠A before leading a ♥?
  18. No, you're right. Mea culpa. And you're right that many would open the other hand 2♣ as well. So I guess the conclusion I'm reaching from this is that in this theoretical world where this auction would be worth thinking about, 3♠ and 4♥ can't exist to describe two different hands. With a hand much weaker, pass seems like the smallest minus most often, and a hand much stronger would either open 2♣ or be difficult to evaluate as strong vs. STRONG.
  19. x AKQJTxx Ax Axx then? Whatever, I'm not going to argue about what is and isn't a 2♣ opener. If you think this is the strongest hand we could possibly have on this auction, then your point is fine.
