Your 3C bid non vul. vs vul(white vs red) is fairly solid by modern standards. l You should not consider bidding again. "Partner makes all decisions after you preempt." Bidding again is called "Hanging partner." When equal vul. you might want a better hand to bid 3C. If vul. a seventh club is normal and many would prefer a better hand.

Some 2/1 bidding allows the auction to stop if responder bids 2/1 and rebids the same suit. Bridge World Standard allows opener to pass a simple rebid suit by responder.

Game in a minor is about 5% of games bid by good pairs. Using New Minor Forcing or the XYZ convention will solve many(most) of you auctions beginning with you replying one major to an opening bid. If you do not like 2/1, Acol or a number of other systems are available. If forcing to game or jump shifts is a problem, you are likely to still have problems when not playing 2/1. When I played ACOL, 16+HCP was the standard for a jump shift "if the shape and HCP" also met certain standards. Blue Team Club uses jump shifts with 12+ with good suits. They also have many other ways to describe their hand. You really do not want to bid slams with two quick losers in a suit.

Variable 1NT Opening in 2/1 GF System
spotlight7 replied to profhsg's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
"Chicken Kaplan Sheinwold" used 12-14 NV and 15-17 vul. I like KS with 12-14 NT as most players bid when using KS. -
Goggle BridgeWithDan and the top entry is Mecklite. It is an e book. Googgle Meckwell lite bridge system doc . GitHub There is an outline there.

An Opening Hand?
spotlight7 replied to Dumoti's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Your grandma would open Axx xxx xxx AQxx since it is an opening bid with 2.5 quick tricks. 4-3-2-1 point count arrived and many 2.5 quick trick hands became passes. -
Responding to 2NT balanced game force
spotlight7 replied to steve2005's topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
What do you do with 4+ trumps 13+ here? I like 1M-2C* as 3 card limit raise or Cs GF or NT GF. What is the problem with 1M-2N 13+? Opener rebids 3M with 6+ or signs off with 4M if weak. 3m seeks best game. -
I use 2D* as @8-11. Opener without a 4M tends to bid 2D*-3N. So a 2N rebid shows a 4M. Meckwell tends to bid 2D*-2N/3N holding a stiff king. I also use 1C-1H* is 12+NT or 5+ Ss. Opener bids 1H*-1S with 5+Ss or bids 1N/2C/2D.
-
2D shows a 4+ suit. With 6-4 or 7-4, opener bids 2S with a minimum. A third round 3D shows a 6-4 or 7-4 type hand.
-
It not uncommon to use 2C-2D-3M as 4M and 5+ Ds. This allows 2C-2D-3D to deny 4M.
-
One CC lists 1C-1D-1M-2C-2D* as art. weak. This appears unplayable since they rebid 1M with 4M and longer minor type hands as well as 4441 types. I play 1C-1D-1M-2C-2D as natural. Since 1C-1D-1M is some kind of unbalanced hand, ...-2C-2N* is available to show clubs. The Hackett brothers use 1M-2D-2NT* is a club canapé hand. Responder bids 3C if not GF and opener passes with a min. hand or bids higher with GF values 1H-2D-3C*(or 1S-2red-3C*) shows a strong NT opener GF.

Follow up after forcing freebid

With 4Hs partner often makes a negative X. I would play 3Hs as showing a H stopper here. -
Strong Jump Shift Guidance.

Soloway SJS tend to show specific hand types. JS and rebid the suit is a solid suit(defined as AKQxxxx or better according to taste) 5332 and 6322 NT types JS and rebid NT showing about 15+-18ish JS and new suit rebid shows support for openers suit The example hand I would bid 2C and 3C later GF -
inverted minors openers next bid
spotlight7 replied to dickiegera's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Bob Hamman has used the first step as weakness and 2nd step as GF. Higher bids show shortness and GF. This min./max. range showing bids avoid silly contracts when opener is minimum and responder 10+. -
h If you read what I wrote, "Fantunes style bidders open 1N with any 4441 shape hand." You suggested a hand that appeared to be a problem hand for his system. I merely stated a possible solution "if he decided to follow" what Fantunes players bid with that type hand.

Fantunes style bidders open 1N 12-14 with any 4441 shape hand.

Precsion in the 90s is a very good Precision book. Reese wrote a Precision book many years ago. Jannersten also wrote a Precision book. An ex partner of mine John Montgomery wrote a well regarded Precision variant. Revision Precision. You can find a copy on the BridgeWithDan site. Back in the day, Relay Precision was released in a 14 volume small softcover set.

I use 'transfer' bids in competition. 1C*=(X)-XX=Ds, 1D would show Hs etc.

2clubs Multi opening

Rubin Two bids: 2C was used as strong natural or weak Ds. 2D was used as strong natural or weak Hs. 2H was used as strong natural or weak Ss. 2S was used as strong natural or a. club preempt -
Two different cc's for one partner
spotlight7 replied to Missyred's topic in Suggestions for the Software
When you have signed on BBO, select "My BBO" at the top middle of your screen. One of the choices is 'convention cards.' Fill out two CCs and list your partner last name. Fill out the second CC and list your partner by their first and last name. You can select a CC by picking the CC with the name that fits. I have CCs for 14 systems filled out for BBO. -
Welcome to the forum. Almost everyone making a splinter promises 4+ trumps. With 3 card support, you use another method. Sometimes called 'bidding around the clock.' If you bid two suits before raising partner, you can show 3 card support 'plus shortage' in the unbid suit. 1S-2C-2D(?)-2H(partner will not have 4Hs since no 1S-2C-2H would be bid. Over 1S-2C-2D-2H-2N-3S would suggest 3Ss and shortness in Ds. Bergen raises promise 4+ trump. In 2/1 auctions, 1M-1N*-2m-3M raise shows the invite with 3 trump.

You might like the Burgay Diamond system. 1C=12-14 balanced or 15-17 ubalanced hands. 1D=18+ If you want to meet ACBL standards, you could bid 1C=15-17 balanced or 15-17 unbalanced. Now 1N would be 12-14HCP

Bridge World Standard 2017
spotlight7 replied to kenberg's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
1m-1M-1N-2C*-2D* is called the XYZ convention. It is also used in cases where "any three bids" have been made at the one level. 1C-1D-1M-2C* 1m-1H-1S-2C* I believe BW 'suggested' that a pass(after opening) also counted as "one of the three bids needed" to start XYZ. 1C-1H-(1S)-pass-pass-2C* XYZ also uses 2D* as an artificial game force. 2C* is used to sign off in 2D or invite later by making any other bid. -
Responses after 1NT opening
spotlight7 replied to dorisga44's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
I saw something like this that appears to work well. 2C* forces 2D to sign off in D/H/S contracts. 2D* is invite+ with 4+ Hs. 2H* is invite+ with 4+ Ss. Opener accepts the 2 level transfer with a non max. hand. Opener bids 2N with a max. and 2 cards in the transferred suit. Opener bids 3* with a max. and 3 cards in the transferred suit. When opener would pass an invite in normal methods, this one allows you to stop in 2M. Holding both majors, responder bids 2C* and over the forced 2D* bid now bids 2N*(4-4Ms invite) or 3N*(4-4Ms)GF
