Much better now, There is no blame for South, there is no bid over 1♦ and and no bid over 3NT. North could double 3NT, but where should trick 5 come from? So let us praise East.

I might have made a comment, but this deal is to small for easy reading.

Sometimes preempts work. Easy pass.

Probability Question
hotShot replied to KimH56's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Please specify the requirements of 1♠ and 2♠, that we can take a look at the numbers. If the restriction is 5+♠ the number is about 57.8%. -
Unless you hacked my webcam, how will you know that I raised my hand? :D
-
Just to make it clear: My suggestion would be to limit the access to those who played the hand. The statistical data from myhands are worthless without the context the scores were reached. A result could come from: random 4 people fooling around in the MBC 4 board free Indi ... 15 board club match .... 2 established partnership playing seriously in a team match with equivalent 2nd pairs (and keep in mind that 2 WC-teams could have a close match, while a beginner team wins big over a team of novices.) Beside the situation a the table, there is additional randomness from the other tables, because your score will change if someone decides to punish his partner with a redbl or by overbidding to 7.

Call it stats or call it rating it is basically the same thing. I would suggest to make the the myhands data only available to the players involved, unless it is a vugraph of some kind.

Probability Question
hotShot replied to KimH56's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Just checked the 1♣/1♦ ration of my simulation if I move the 4+♦/ ♦len.+1♣ hands to the 1♦ opening. I get the ration of 1: 1.13 which is close to inquiry's expectation of 1 : 1.14. -

Even with that we are about 10 %-points away from that website result, so I guess that it is wrong. -

Probability Question

How do you open a hand with 4♦ and 5♣ in Standard American? If you open it 1♦ than the frequency of a 5 card ♣ opening is reduced. The quoted website did not list this as restriction so I guess they did not use it. -

Since NT takes away balanced hands you'd expect more unbalanced hands, and since the restriction is to 1♣ opening, ♣ will be the longest suit. The 63% are there because it is an additional restriction that you open 1D holding 4-4 in the minors. This reduces the number of hands that could be opened in 1♣ in general and especially those that have 4♣. -
:D at least this typo is funny.

Sorry though it was clear, but it was not. Edited the post to clarify. At least I hope it does.

My profile could say I'm Santa Claus, but the PMs with wish-lists are too annoying. Some people appear younger than they are.

You're welcome. Don't you think if I meant a single person, I would have send a PM? So compared with your irrigation with those suit symbols, the effect of the ignore functions would be worse? That suit symbol thing can't be a big problem than. If you take a scale from 0 to 10 (on forum posts containing) where 0 are posts containing more or less idiotic posts that won't matter to the world and 10 are posts to induce someone to commit a crime. Where do you put post containing: Cheating accusations personal insults flooding the forum advertise have a very long interest list making additional suit symbols to a post According to this source http://en.wikipedia....ife_%28idiom%29 the idiom started around 1983 so I guess everybody could have picked it up since than. Edited to clarify.

I don't like your system, if East has no better way to open this monster. All blame for not reaching the slam goes to West. 4♥ does not show this hand. 4♣ would be a much better description. Over 4♥ West could bid a forcing 5♣ to show East some extras, but this would be a rescue operation. If one believe in Wests 4♥ West can't double 5♠.

Is it wise to react to someone behaving like a 14 year old, by acting like a 10 year old? Use the ignore user function and get a life.

Around here poeple agree that President Obama has lost but they think the Candidate Obama won. His prize was a premium theme for the re-election campaign. If the Republicans pick a candidate that is not from the Tea Party, the question will be can this candidate control the Tea Party? If the candidate is from the Tea Party, the question would be, can the US carry the burden of a president incapable to compromise, to the extend to let the county default.
-
One of the main problem is, that the governments forced people into investing in retirement pension plans, and forced the companies offering such plans to only invest in "save" papers and made the rating agencies in charge to decide what is save. So if Greece would default, banks and insurances that invested into "save" Greek, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese loans, will get into big trouble, this would be a disaster to anyone getting a pension or who plans to retire in the next years. Since many banks still suffer from the last crisis, that would open a second can of worms.
