  1. The timezone leagues would make it much easier to schedule dates for the matches. Of course you would be free to play in another timezone if that suits you better (e.g. if you like to play at night). Keep in mind that we're talking about teams of people here, that is you have to schedule EIGHT people, not two or four. Edit: just think about the typical working hours. If you have a few people in each team working a 9-5 job, that pretty much kills the idea of matching teams up across the pond (unless they are all ready to play on weekends, which quite often is family time). --Sigi I recall there were discussions on splitting BBO. As far as I recall, the majority does not want e.g. BBO Asia/BBO America/BBO Europe. And I am so glad that BBO hasn't split so far. From the rules page of Rays Bridge Ladder Simple. Beautiful. It works. Appears that we do not see eye to eye on this. Sorry if I sound offensive. :) :)
  2. The main reason why I'd like to have preduplicated boards (or equivalent support directly within BBO) is the following: Especially if the matches are short, you want all teams participating in the league to play the same boards, simultaneously, against their respective opponent for the given round of the league. Otherwise, you add some unnecessary randomness to the league, because there might be more swinging boards in one match than in another, for the same round of the league. Of course one can argue that this doesn't matter much or evens out over time. Also I find it very appealing to be able to compare your own results with those from other matches in the same league round. The third advantage is the ability to rank all pairs (in addition to the teams) for each given round using Butler scoring or Cross-IMPs. Some minor advantages are increased security that the boards are truly random (if you're really serious) and that it's easier to integrate them with your web site for the league (you don't have to extract the lin files from the web first). The biggest disadvantage is that you have to have the teams playing simultaneously or you have to be able to rely on the fairness of all teams not to look at existing results. I admit that it's all not strictly necessary and that the current features are enough to get a league running, but I think it would be much nicer to use predup boards (if you can coordinate the teams). --Sigi I am not impressed by pre-duplicated hands neither...... :P :)
  3. Hmm......but a league for each of the major timezone does not sound appealing to me. The beauty of Rays Bridge Ladder, as well as BBO is that we can play with anyone all over the world.
  4. Rays Bridge Ladder is simply awesome. A BIG thank to Hue for his wonderful work. :P :) And welcome Hue to the Forum.
  5. YES Rays Bridge Ladder is still living! To save you some efforts, below are the links http://www.rays.ustc.edu.cn/ladder/Bridge/ http://www.rays.ustc.edu.cn/ladder/BridgeTeam/ There are one - I think still living. Ray's Bridge Ladder. You find links via Public Clubs on BBO. There have earlier been several attempts - I think all failing due to much enthusiasm but in the long run not sufficient seriousity. BBO-Poland I think was the longest living attempt.
  6. Recently it has been done for the GIB in money bridge rooms. Bridge Master 2000 is actually having the same problem. RHO plays immediately after dummy play. The animate cards does not help much. Is it possible to deliver a similar patch to BM2000? :P
  7. I have set Player at bottom as Declarer when reviewing hands. During the first page of the hand, it shows the bidding and play has not yet commenced. The player at bottom is however already declarer (may not be South). Makes it quite confusing when looking at the bidding. It may be better the declarer is put to bottom only from the 2nd page when reviewing hands. Hope I make myself clear ... :) BTW how to post a picutre? The IMG button only lets me input an URL.
  8. THANKS!!! As a Chinese, and a fans of he Ace team, looking forward for 1971 BB final - Ace vs Taiwan.......
  9. Guess you mean the lineup was agreed before invitaion (when play starts u already accepted the team game). True for set game. In such case, u have clear idea of the team game and what profile to be displayed doesnt matter.... For everyday team game, one simply message the host for interest in the TG. One would latter receive the invitation. Usually have an idea about the host already (have chat the host before for showing interest), so it is more appropriate to display other info. Players maybe interested in other info also e.g. partner/opps/teammate/hosts/etc. A matter of priority. Top on my list is partner info. Moreover dont mis take me saying more info/profile display the better. The current screen look nice - tidy and eye catching ;) :) . Displaying more may ruin it....
  10. The large deck looks comfortable. The small deck looks colorful. I keep on switching ..... Have to edit profile to switch. I always use picture of cards & large deal. Could either button picture of cards/hand diagram or large deal/small deal be replaced by large deck/small deck. So that switching between large deck/small deck is more handy? Minor issue though .... :)
  11. Second. Displaying partner profile sounds more appropriate than that of the team match host..... :) BTW the new invitaiton screen looks very nice ... thx ....
  12. The client didnt ask me anything to take to my reserved seat when login. Not sure at the time if reservation made... most likely yes. When I sit manually, 'seat has been reserved'. Yes it was table Hueray.... :)
  13. Got the same problem. Running 4.6.7 also. Someone reserved a seat for me and I could not sit. Have to cancel the reservation so I could play...... :)
  14. For more recent movies readily available, so I would make a better choice next time. Good  After the Sunset National Treasure Flight Plan Into the Blue i Robot Bad  the Island Proof
  15. It seems to me that there has been previously posts but I could not fnd that now. Someone ask if it is possible to play the BM2000 online contents in offline manner. He is blocked by firewall in some location. Someone (maybe uday) mentioned theoretically it could not be but practically it could be. Could I have the link please? :) B)
  16. Zia Mahmood, in his book 'Bridge my Way', doesn't believe in computer bridge. Has he changed his mind yet? Has any other famous players been asked similar questions?  From the link provided in the thread Interesting reading. Wonder if Zia would like to withdraw now? B) :D Thx for the link ....
  17. Tried this. Exactly what I need. Many thanks .....
  18. I did try that before. It doesnt work for me. Nothing found. I am unsure if windows is not searching .lin files, or it could not search 'Helgemo' or '*Helgemo*'....  Does it work for anyone?
  19. Just have a look in www.wingrep.com. Seems it does offer a GUI interface. Will try tonight. Thanks!! :)
  20. Thanks for the many replies. Google desktop search is too bulky for me. Never have the patience to let it build the index, even in b/g :) Guess windows version of grep would be in text mode in command window, like the findstr command .... not handy  If someone knows of a light weight GUI search tool for windows, much appreciate for a link here   Miss DOTW so much .....
  21. Opening the file with notepad would work. What I like to do is searching for e.g. 'Hamman' in e.g. 100 lin files. I use the search function from windows start menu but it returns no items found. :)
  22. As the title ...... :D :) Currently the default is not showing summary.
  23. Is it one of the biggest money prize? US$40,000 for team champion.... :D What are the other high money prize bridge tournament? Does Bermuda/Olympaid offer any money prize?
  24. I have DOTW saved in my HD. When I do a search of some text that exists (e.g. Fred), windows return not found. What happens? :P  BTW would Fred be doing some DOTW once in a while? Really missed it ....
  25. Anything wrong here? For the sick 7NT hand I described earlier, my human opp also couldnt lead because BBO says he is too slow and the table closed. I chat with my opp after and he says ♣A is on the table. He is on lead and the ♣A is dealt with his GIB partner. I could not see any card played? Is my GIB partner so smart to stop my human opp to lead, when she knows she commits a disaster?
