I ONLY have one question (as I am not a student of the Muslim religion) Is it allowed to pray SILENTLY at required times if you are in a place and time where praying aloud MIGHT concievably create suspicion as to your motivation for doing so?? (as in an airport JUST before you board a flight with other Muslims -- even if you don't know them) As far as I know prayers in MOST other religions can be silent as SURELY prayers are between the person and their "God" whatever his/her name??

1. N is NOWHERE near strong enough for the 3♦ bid ( P has denied 11+ points with his 1♠ bid (in 2/1 as I play it) so NO Game force 2. BUT as P has bid 3♦ why does S not rebid his ♠s? NF as didn't bid 1NT forcing the first time :)

I would disagree with your "ridiculous" comment, and think that IF an infraction of the rules occurs at any level in a duplicate game the correct thing to do is to call the director, and I am surprisef that a player of nickf's ability didn't do so :lol:

we play 2NT as 22-23 balanced -- (Precision) so our responses DO include an "artificial" meaning to the immediatr 3NT response -- as follows Over 2NT :- 3C is Stayman and after response 3NT to PLAY 3♦ transfer to ♥ and then same as responses over 1NT 3♥ transfer to ♠ as above 3♠ transfer to 3NT (Showing at least 5/5 in touching suits slam going B) if fit found :blink: ) 3NT transfer to 4♣ (Showing at least 5/5 in NON touching suits slam going of fit is found :blink: ) over the transfers of 3♠ and 3NT responders rebid identifies his 2 suits -- and opener can ALWAYS sign off in 4NT :blink:

NOT having looked at ANY other answers :D Assuming SAYC bidding 1. I think I am missing something ---- ;) Partner bid 4NT (RKCB) after I opened 4♥ ( which IMHO should promise an 8 card ♥ suit :P) and I showed1 or 4 key cards ( and in light of the 4♥opener SHOULD be only 1 KC) - then in response to p's king ask I showed ONE K outside the ♥ suit. UNLESS you and P have a way of showing the void over the 4NT--and from the 5♦ response I presume is not possible :angry: :D then ALL you can do is PASS the 6♥------ because I believe PARTNER is in charge after his 4NT bid !!!!

PASS WTP :D because ---- I have shown 1. a 5 card ♥ suit 2. NO 5 card minor AND less than 17 points ( or I could force at this point) and PARTNER is the unlimited hand so I need to limit MY hand as soon as I can ( as I do with my PASS B) )

Playing standard or 2/1 only 1♥ {and I am glad I play Precision as it's a good 1♣ opener --- and if partner can show support for either of my suits then I expect to be in GAME at least ;) -- if he has a complete bust we can play it in 1♥ (or possibly 2♥ if opps intervene)}

If playing strong JS then surely 1S 3H is GF with 5+ hearts :) 1S 4♥ would be a splinter in ♠ IMO -- (but I would prefer to be playing Jacoby 2NT) but if that qualifies as a "fancy gadget" then disregard :D

NO I do not think that N should have bid more than 3♠ (assuming S bid 1♠):) BUT as S I would bid 2♥(as I do not play Drury) so that's where we would play I assume :unsure:

We open 2NT on 21-22 (playing precision) and have transfer systems available which allow us to show 5/5 in touching or non touching suits available (ONLY with sufficient points to play at 4NT with the hands which do NOT match--- really important :unsure: ) So over 2NT 3♦ and 3♥ are normal transfers and normal responses after acceptance of transfer (NO super accept though! as we perfer to be able to transfer with a REALLY weak major!) 3NT is to play :P 4NT is quantitave B) ALL other bids show a desire for slam :) IF the 5/5 fit is suitable from opener's view -- or sufficient points to play 4NT 3♠ DEMANDS that opener bids 3NT then 4♣ ♦♥♠ is 5/5 in the bid suit plus the one above :ph34r: 3NT DEMANDS 4♣ from opener then 4♦shows 5/5 in ♦ &♠ 4♥ shows 5/5 in ♥&♣ This system has worked well for us (also useful one level lower over 1NT where the relays of 2♠ and 2NT show GAME going 5/5 hands) Obviously there will be hands where this system will NOT work well but I guess ALL conventions have SOME failures -- one just has to use the ones which work MOST of the times

Where do I start? :) B) Here in Australia we have SO many wonderful wines it truly is difficult to recommend a particular wine it really depends on what style of wine you like :D I REALLY gurantee that you will be able to find whatever style you like ( EXCEPT ICE wines which are wonderful :) :)) but unfortunately we cannot produce them as we do not have cold enough weather here :) The other good thing is because our climate is so good we tend to produce consistant quality wine at really good prices -- DOWNSIDE is compared to the French we don't tend to have "SUPERB" vintages -- BUT don't have "AWFUL" vintages either :D (a good point for me as I have tasted some really terrible French wines at truly HORRIFIC prices which some 'wine snobs' have thought wonderful JUST because they were a 'great french wine' Having lived in the US I can attest that Californian wines are terrific -- but so are South American , South African, French and German wines -- all of which I have tasted in their "home" countries :) SO any time you come to Australia please let me know and I will be happy to open a bottle of "Aussie" wine with you :) (if you are in MY home city) ;)

As P has made a forcing bid I will bid 3♦ (forcing I believe in sayc and 2/1 ) because:- 1. I think that the 4♦ splinter should show 4 ♠ support :blink: 2. I am not sure that 4♣ is forcing :P ( I play Precision normally :) ) 3. I do not have enough ♥s to bid 4♥ (as P may play me for 5/4 in ♣/♥) SO IMO 3♦ is the best bid to describe my hand ;)
