  1. 3♥ on all three. By bidding 3♣ (then following up with some number of heart bid) will either confuse partner with him not believing you have AQx support or if this is your style then you would sometimes make the auction unnecessarily high. I wouldn't splinter as well as you should have a clear definition of the strength for this kind of splinters and this one especially (1S-2H-4D) because it leaves zero space for responder to even make a last train bid. Oh, not to mention that 4 trumps is a must when I splinter.
  2. I wouldn't say game is that optimistic, as there are other hands like xxxx xx AJ10x Kxx or xxx Kx KQxx xxxx. We have a good 2-way shot, could be a make or a good sac. Does that mean to make a pre-emptive jump to 3♦ you require 6 diamonds? Assuming better minor, having 4432 is pretty rare compare to any other hand with 4+♦'s so even if opener can be 4432 I ain't waiting all day to find a hand with 6♦s that's preventing me to jump 3♦ with xxxx xx AKxxx xx.
  3. Double for me. 2♥ is definitely way off the charts.
  4. I'd open because I like AKA too much. And now an easy 2♠.
  5. I'm in for 4♦ at these colours too.
  6. For people who prefer 2♥ to 1♠, do you also respond 1♥ with 4♥&5♦?
  7. Whether partner opened 1♠ or not, this is an auto 3♥ in both cases.
  8. 1) You just got to, 6 of them and a void. Is partner going to hang me? 2) Agree that this hand is wayyy to good for a 3♠ bid. Don't underestimate the power of 4 trumps and a singleton!
  9. Sometimes I don't like to use the info that South should take into account that North knows that South is short in diamonds based on the bidding and this is one of them. North could range from having 1-4 diamonds on this auction so if he has 2-3 he has no idea how many South has.
  10. I agree with jdonn, that opposite a 4♠ hand known to be weak I definitely like my chances going for 500 in 5♠ so I'd tend towards that. Admittedly RHO's tank may seem like he's 2-6 in the majors in which we may take 2 spades and a diamond (if partner had bid 4♠ with 4 of them and a singleton) but in other cases partner can have 5 spades too.
  11. I'd 3♦ it. Shows my side suit and allows more space for investigation.
  12. Agree with Justin. I just don't see where we're going to go with this average hand so 3♣ seems like the best spot we can be in. Also it's NV as well as MPs, so I'm very happy with taking this plus score.
  13. 1♦-1♥-2♠ (constructive bidding) Has anyone played 2♠ as nat GF or 15+ 6+♦3♥ before? If so, what were your continuations?

  15. I'd lead a low club although I wouldn't mind the Queen. The lead that I absolutely hate the most is a trump. Giving away tempo is the worst thing you can do.
  16. so after P P X P are you ready to pass? Of course you are. Those two scenarios are completely different. If partner had some boring 2452 (with ♦xxxxx) he would've made a negative double over 2♦. After partner passed and a 3♦ raise by our RHO, I don't understand why I am still wanting to be back into the auction with this current hand when partner didn't make a noise. But if 3♦ comes back around to partner who then doubles (meaning he was probably ready to penalise two diamonds), I'm not particularly ashamed of my opening so I am going to sit it.
  17. With the added note of (not really great but) 1♦ was opened in 3rd seat. But there are many many decent hands where game is cold if partner has an opening hand with say 54 majors or 6♠ or 5-5 in the blacks or maybe 1NT actually turns out to be a better partial.
  18. These points contradict. You say you bid 3♣ wanting to find the 5-3 club fit when partner is 1453, but then you say 3♣ is 4sF which may be based on Qxxxx Kxx Kx xxx. So if opener has 1453 then he bids 3NT and what does responder do with the current 5215? What if opener bid 3NT based on 2452? Or what if it's 0454 and opener may not be able to afford to bid over 3NT? What do you mean? If you bid 2♠ you're showing 5spades then opener can bid 2NT/3♣/3♦/3♥/3♠ naturally, ergo, patterning out. I personally believe 2♠ is the right bid if you have that agreement. Q98xx is considered a good enough suit that may warrant to play in 4♠ on a 5-3 fit. Like gnasher said, if 3♣ is 4sGF then on the auction that was given 3♠ can be based on 2452.
  19. because at that point u did not know that your ten hcp were not working points, and 2S would have denied that much strength. both 2S and 2NT (leben) at that juncture are weak bids. In 'standard' I believe, by rebidding 2M it shows 5+cards and F1. Not to mention the OP stated their methods and said "2NT (leb) is our only weak bid"
  20. 3♥, agree it's not close.
