None all, S: AXXXX H: AKT7XX D: X C: X S: KQXX H: J D: KJXX C: AQXX 6S from , friendly open lead cx, plann ur play
-
perhaps u can deduce sth from the lead and defense strategy? also, i think cashing da, and sak better
-
pd should pass 3c, afterall, he is min. 3c is abosolutely correct. but if pd bid 3d, perhaps you should bid 3h to ask for the stopper in h.
-
I would say vul is not that important here, i will bid 3c, limited raise. If pd makes a game try, i will be happy to cooperate.
-
Though i am a bit late. I still want to say i would jump to 6d after 3h, esp with pick up pd. There is simply no way to explore while assure pd will not pass 4 level minor or misunderstand your bid, whatever. So by Simon's rule, bid what you think you can mk here. pd should have 6card d suit here, 3 card h suit. if you have trump loser, you should be abel to handle ur side suit loser. YOur j,10s can easily provide some extra chance. Even pd is min opener, I will try it.
-
I must admit i hide the h suit, but hide the spade spt will be even more problematic. if you bid 3h, and pd raise to 4h, what do u do?
-
luis, i dont think 5 level is safe, what if pd has sth like: S: QTXX H: XX D: AQTXX C: XX this hand is pretty good for 1S responder.
-
i think i will bid 4d, but very worrying about the trump quality. perhaps we can ask ben if there is any particular convention to handle this question, say asking bid.:)
-
Pd's hand is: S: J9X H: AX D: KJXX C: AQJX You can see 6N from pd is a great contract. We stopped at 4S. The filed contract is 6S, down 1 due to diamond 5-1 break. What would be the sequence to 6N?
-
sry, we play 2/1 gf.
-
NS Vul. sitting South as dealer, you hold: S: AKQXX H: KQJT D: QXX C: X Opp passed throughout, auction goes: You pd 1S 2C 2H 2S ? Suppose u bid 2N, pd raised to 3N, what do you do now?
-
play q from hand. Fred mentioned this example in this site somewhere.
-
4S, slam chance is not that high with two clubs in ur hand. 4s put much pressure on LHO.
-
if this is matchpoint, then u need to consider what the field contract might be. if you think some might play 3n and can only get 9 tricks, then u may try safety play here by finesse queen first. if u think all will play 4s, then you may risk to lead jack first. lead jack first only lose when trump breaks 4-0 behind ur aqxx.

i will play it as h+d gf. pd passed 3h, he should be min and only doubleton h. retransfer does mk much sense here i think. do u really want to play a partscore 3d? i doubt it. if u have 5-5 or better, i might bid a game. so i will play it as gf.

pd's problem after east's 3d is really how many trumps i have for the raise. if he knows i have 4, then i think he will bid 3s even my pass should show a min hand. But I think he really doesnt have any better bid other than dbl here. He couldnt bid 3s coz i may raise with 3card. This is even more important after opp find diamond fit. 4s is not that bad i think. c ace is marked onside with a passed east who bid 3d later. the only problem is you may encounter a forcing defense with d lead. One more question, would my pass after 3d show 3card raise and 3s show a 4card raise? Raising to 2s is correct i think no matter what pd have. It should be a two way shot. It is very effective if west has a good hand. 2s should not encourage pd too much. if i have a good hand, i will start with a cuebid. 2s should show a min hand like what i have here to a max hand with 8/9 points.
-
I think perhaps it is time for me to show my pd's hand. He overcalled 1S with: S; AKQX H: AJX D: X C: KXXXX West holds: S; TX H: KQ9XX D: JTXX C: AX 3dx-1. 4s should be made easily.

Notrump And Minors In Fast/Slow Arrival

hehe, I raised to 2s coz i think 4 trumps and a side ace is not bad asset. Surely if east passed pd's 3c i would bid 3s without doubt. but since there is a 3d, you dont need to bid compulsory. What is the diff between pass and correct to 3s then? secondly, if pd dbl 3d, would u leave it or move to 3s?
-
Not sure if the bluff will work here. As you said, if you bid 6h with confident, or by cue bid 6d, showing a void which doesnt exist, then it may persuade open leader swith to sth else, say club. I bid 6H then sb left the table and we redealed the hand. So I asked pd, do you have singleton in Diamond? Pd answered yes:)
-
Vul. vs not, holding S: J9XX H: TXX D: AXX C: XXX sitting south, you heard west, as dealer, opened 1H and pd overcalled 1S. East passed and you raised to 2S. West passed and pd made a game trial with 3c. Now, east came in with 3d. 1) What do you do? 2) Suppose you pass, pd dbl, what do you do now?
-
I agree that we should be able to bid them by two tricks. What if the vul. switched, i.e., when vul. v.s. not?
-
come on, man. 5h is the bottom line for you. isnt it?
