  1. what if pd has 6 or even 7card spade? can you really move pd's 4s? come on.
  2. 3N, only playable game. pd wont have 5 card spade, his hand seems to be 4-1-4-4. 5 level is really difficult. So if u want to play, bid 3n. Responsive dbl here is wrong, pd will play, whatever it is, east will lead h through ur hand,
  3. so the only bid which will give u a plus is dbl, it keeps chance for 4hx or 4s or 5minor.
  4. let's vote again: 1) dbl 2) pass 3) 4n
  5. Vul vs not,sitting south, you hold: S: KX H: XX D: AXXXX C: AKXX W N E S 2H P 4H ?
  6. Agree with poky, I will overtake with s ace and play c ace and small c to dummy. but there is still a problem, if west is good enough, he might discard c king on c ace to create an entry for east. let's assume west defend well by discard c k in this case you play c to c q and play the third c, discarding s k on the third c. now east will return d(best def.), insert d8 if it is a small card, cover with jack if it is t or 9. west is endplayed now.
  7. Ben, I will not consider any cheating possibility. If they want to cheat, they can alway cheat. BM Demo is very good test problem still, i think. For example, I can do 1-4 easily, but couldnt figure out 5, so somewhere between inter to adv i belong to. I have to admit that this is still a self-set standard. And anyway, I like to play against expert. beating them makes me feel good, beaten by them give me chances to learn. So I am happy to play with expert, whethere they r truely expert or not:)
  8. Well, I for one don't think it is worth it. First, how bad is the problem? Second, if we think there might be cheating going on during normal play, imagine what will be said when someone you KNOW is a total bridge novice passes the expert exam with flying colors...what will be said then? Third, I sort of like playing all these "EXPERTS" on the BBO. Because after I destroy them, I can say.... "if they are experts, then I must be a ..."________" you fill in the blank. But if they are experts, world class would not be high enough. (Galaxy class maybe... Warp speed Mr. Sulu" ) It should be very easy and conveinent, just try the BM2000 level 1 to 5.
  9. Dbl here is straightforward takeout, of coz. What pd will do if he has 2 hearts and 2 spades and 5-4 in minor? Who knows? If life is so easy then nobody will both to preempt. Perhaps you will regret your dbl if you knew pd has this kind hand. Pd is very likely to have single heart, at most. If he has 4 spades, he will bid it. if no, 5c or 5d is not that bad. Bidding 4s has much higher risk I think than dbl. you just committed to play. Pass can be right, but I will not do it.
  10. Dbl here ask pd to bid s, if he has some. If u really want pd to bid minor, u may bid 4n.
  11. Dbl. no other choice. If pd has spade, he will bid it.
  12. I actually quite agree with this std. Perhaps BBO can ask every player, esp. those want to labelled as world class or expert, to take a short exam on BBO, i.e., to play a few meaningful hands.
  13. sorry, i'm not following.. can you do the sequence for me? also, i said i was holding my breath on the 2nd club ruff B) ... did you mean, win first diamond, toss both hearts on diamonds? sorry for the unclear expression. yes, da win dk, dq discard a small h, then another d discard another small h from dummy. If east win, we may endplay him for a trick.
  14. Here we still need west has long club, othewise he will overruff. HOw about discard the 2nd small h on the small diamond in third round?
  15. dqueen discard one heart, then finesse club queen, basically u r forced to do so. Even if clube 4-3, u will be short of entry to ruff 3 rounds club in hand. sry this seems wrong. if club 4-3, no problem.
  16. good point, i didnt think that. perhaps i should fill in those xxs to complete it.
  17. Have you read Reese's Miracles of card play? Many novice play much better than those claimed expert.
  18. Just realize i shld post the actual hand as a default convetion:) west S:JXX H:X D:QXXXX C:KJXX EAST S:T H:Q98XX D:AXX C:XXXX As ben said, this is really a beginner hand. Only need to duck hj, even opp cover, after draw trumps.
  19. did north preempt? if yes, i thnk would be difficult.
  20. it would be great if everything goes as u wish. Just want to remind you you need pd to understand ur bid to succeed. Still remember your 1N psych which no body except yourself understand?
  21. Sure, I saw ur 1st post. And I do agree with 1s bid. I am just saying psyhic too much may not be such a good idea. Will you psyhic here if your hand changes to S: XXX H: X D: AJTXX C: XXXXX ? I am not sure what is the right time for psyhic bid, coz i am just a novice. Perhaps Ben or other expert here can give me a guideline. But i think you may consider psyhic bid only if the following two conditions are satisfied: 1. you are sure ur opp will bid a game if u dont take action. 2. you have some where to run if you are caught by opp's dbl, which implies you should have fit with pd or u hide another long suit to run if necessary. So after pd opened and i have about 5 HCP without fit for pd, i will never psyhic. In a word, every bid we choose has a purpose. Dont psyche purely for psyh.
  22. Free, better to bid what u have before considering psyhic bid. I assure you it will backfire more than fool opps.
  23. 1s is not psychic bid at all. my 1s is serious.
  24. OK, IMP PAIRS, S 3-1:) BUT I SWAR MY PD who claimed an expert, ended up -2.
