Even if you establish 4 ♦ tricks, that is 11 in total. You will still need a ♠ finesse or a ♣ - ♠ squeeze. You could probably try another route. Take with the ♥K and low ♠ to J. If this holds, revert back to ♦ trying to establish 4 ♦'s. If it loses, you will still have a lot of chances. If ♠'s are 3-3, then again come to 11 tricks + ♦ finesse or a ♣ - ♦ squeeze. If ♠'s are not 3-3 also , you still have quite good chances with the 4th ♣ and 4th ♠ serving as threat card and if ♦ Q is inside, you will be able to run 4 ♦ tricks in the end position. Possibility of throw in with either 4th ♣ or 4th ♠ also exists ( after cashing the ♦ K ) depending on the cards played by Opps when cashing the ♠'s, ♥'s and ♣'s. Don't ask me the probability math for this line, but I have a gut feeling this may offer a better chance that attacking ♦'s straight away.

As I was trying bidding practice, I tried saving a few interesting hands using the Save button under Movie. When I reopen the lin file later , I am unable to open it. I get a message " Deal record not found" Am I doing something wrong, or is it that Save fetaure does ot exist in Partnership Bidding?

From what I read in the news, there is no evidence that the ball has been doctored. That being so, giving a penalty of 5runs without having the courtesy to tell the captain why it was done, is not gentlemanly. I remember Lever using vaseline durig his India tour long before the reverse swing technique was established. I wonder what he was trying to achieve then. BCCI coming to the support of ICC on this issue is also surprising. BCCI can't see eye to eye with ICC and PCB and probably playing the cards right by choosing to support the ICC. Indian media is playing the racial card against Hair and this will be in the headlines for some more time to come.

I don't find 2NT as one of the options. Limit raise or better in ♣'s after the double. I thought this was quite standard in most Natural systems. Get the word out for pd's ♣ support as quickly as possible. The problem that I see with the 1♥ bid , is if you hear 3♦ or 3♠ to your left, then it will be difficult to convince your partner that you had such lovely support for his suit later on in the bidding.

One partner insisted that we play 1m pass 1M pass 3NT as a regular rebid of 2NT 18-19 hand but with 3 card Major support and 3 aces. It helped us bid some thin slams on control rich hands and we had reasonable success whenever we held that combination.

I was in one of the TM which mike777 hosted. mike777 was at the other table. Some funny behaviour which I have never experienced before and I am now left wondering if it is a bug in version 4.7.6. ( I have never experienced this before and I play a lot of TM games) My pd left the table and as usual the seat was reserved for him to return. He didn't return at all. But this status did not change, even after close to 10 minutes. Usually my Table button will be active, so that I can choose a sub. But my Table button was greyed out and I could do nothing about it. Then one of the Opps left. The seat was reserved for the player and that seat did not change the status. My other opp did not know how to take a sub and then Table collapsed. mike777 must have cancelled in frustration or the 3rd person must have left.

Item 24 , Nadar is different from Nader. Nadar is the Indian team whereas Nader is the Brazilian team. 2 Indian teams qualified for the Round of 64. Nadar was one and the other is Texans ( pitted against Nickell) Godwin

Cut and Paste works only within the same FD file. As Rain has suggested open both the FD files as Notepad or Word. Then select the sections that you want to copy from one FD and paste it to the other FD and save it. I prefer Word as you can do a sort ( so you can paste anywhere) and also the Find and Replace feature can be used if you want to say, replace all the H symbol with the Heart !H symbol, etc.

You dont need to be online to edit your FD CC files. Always better to do this Offline.

Anyone who has followed Claus's post here in BBO forums will know that it is very easy to get offended with his posts. Give him the benefit of doubt and blame it on his English. Best is it to ignore and not get provoked.

I voted a Few times. I noticed a few discrepancies in the BBO Advanced FD file, not matching with the BBO Advanced Notes available on BBO. This was some time back. I will try and recollect and post it here or send you a Private message, so that you can do the editting.

Off course you can see the meaning of your bid you are about to make ( as long as you select under Automatic display options - Of bids you might make ), just mouse over the bid that you are about to make, and you will see it. Say you want to know the meaning of a 2D bid that you are about to make, click on 2 and then before clicking on D, you can mouse over C, D, H, S. NT and see the meaning of 2C, 2D, 2H, 2S and 3NT.

Sigi, this is already there. At any point of point of time, after you make the bid, you feel that the FD explanation is wrong, you can always Click on Alert button and give the corect explanation. Also inform by private chat to Opps that the Explanation in the Alerted bid is the correct one and not the one shown by FD, so that Opps are fully aware of the correct meaning of the bid. For this reason, I prefer that I see the meaning of the bid, before I make the bid, especially when you pd loads the FD CC and you are not fully aware of all the treatments there. for eg, you may post the BBO Advance FD CC where Serious NT is part of it . You and your pd may not be playing Serious 3NT. If the FD explanation will give a wrong explantion, you have time to alert before you can make the bid, so that you do not mislead the Opps.

Assiging a person to a Team Game by right clicking on his private chat message works. So make them chat privately to you, by asking if they want to play a TM? When they reply, right click on their name in the Chat message and then assign them to the TM. This will work only after you hit the create Team button. So you can't be at any table at the MBC or TM. So after hitting the Create TM button, use the back button to go to the Main Lobby. Your Create TM window will still be open. Now you send private messages to your friends in your friends list to invite them. When they reply, right click and select them Godwin

Some more useful culled from other posts, mostly by Fred from release notes All FD files has the file extension .bss Defensive carding is stored on a line that starts with % in your .bss file. Usually the last line. Anyline starting with * , is when "They Open". If there is no * in the line, it pertains to "We Open" When you use an existing default Convention card and use the Manage Convention feature to add a few conventions to you CC and save them as a different file, (these are stored in C:/Bridge Base Online/convcards/yourID convcards), then you will see these entries A line that starts with $ is a reference to a "default convention card". Line starting with + refers to the conventions ( these are stored in C:/Bridge Base Online/conventions) that you have added to the default convention card. Example: *00{BBO Adv version 2}=NYYYYYYBBO Advanced plus Gazilli + Puppet Stayman $BBO-Advanced.bss +convention_gazzilli.bss +convention_puppet.bss The $ and + symbols are pretty much functionally equivalant, but the directories in which FD looks varies depending on $/+. Also, each FD file can have only one $ while multiple +s are allowed. You cannot edit / define bidding sequences that were produced through +. Edit the file that the + refers to if you want to make changes. At this point in time, files that are attached to a main file using + cannot contain their own + symbols.

This happens with all the FD files. It is not specific to a particular file. If I try to open a FD file by double clicking a fFD file from the File list of Windows Explorer or from My Computer, it does not return the file. Maybe the problem is with my Windows Explorer. I am on Win 98. The file opens by clicking File, Open and pointing to the file location.

I tried this again and I can confirm this. Double clicking on a FD file ( Offline FD) turns up a blank FD display,even though there is contents in it. It probably opens up a New FD file, bcos the blue header has the caption Untitled bidding system. Then you click, File / Open then point to the location of the file and everything is on display. Not sure why this happens, hopefully Fred will be able to tell us. But nothing is lost as we know how to get to it. I am on FD version 1.2.2. Some people may be struggling with this as they will be lost that they can't see anything in the file.

This is a very likely cause. It had me fooled a few times. A few times I had a blank one, I clicked on File menu, then Open and opened the file and all was OK.

Tough one. All the standard Jacoby 2NT responses has some distortion or the other. Singleton ♦A and 4 card ♣ seem to be the biggest distortion. The least distortion seems to be 4♥ or 3NT. 3NT also looks a bit shaky with the ♦A singleton and nothing in ♠. So 4♥ is my bid

I wonder from where you are printing the whole bidding tree in the Editor mode. I dont see the Print button anywhere. Unless you are printing the Notepad or Word version of the FD file
