  1. Well, it depends on what agreements you have over 1♦ - (1♥). If 1♠ can be dished out with 4 card ♠, then pd would have bid 1♠ the first time around, and now it is not safe as most likely you will be at the 3 minor level. So you pass. If pd needs to have 5 card ♠ to respond over 1♦ - (1♥), then the odds of buying the contract at the 2 ♠ level increases with a Double.
  2. 4♥. Fill the gaps in partner's ♥ holding. He would be in better position to assess.
  3. You don't have to. It is there all the time. Just make sure you do not close the "Create Team Match" Dialog box. If some one rejects, just change that person's name with some one else. All the 8 names still remain there, unless you close this Dialog box.

  5. I would discard a ♦ on ♣A and if ♣ is continued, will ruff in dummy discarding a ♥ from hand.
  6. I received the below mail from an e-mail ID "Bridge Base Online" <rtv_support@rt.bridgebase.com> Sub: BBO: Please validate {BBOT#11689577790.44404072671114#TOBB} Hello. 7. You can play RHO for K8 of ♦. Try to bring the ♦ suit without any loss, so that you can afford to give 2 ♠ tricks. Go to dummy with a 3rd tump and play ♦Q. If RHO cover ♦Q with K, win and run ♦9 trying to pin ♦8 on your right. If it loses to the doubleton 10, he has open up ♠'s. If you see ♦8 on you left, go with ♦J ( hoping righty with K10x) and playback a ♦ to endplay RHO to open up ♠'s. If ♦Q loses to K on your left, if he returns a small ♠, you will be left to guess ♠ honors correctly. If he return a low ♦, you will have to pray for ♠A onside.
  8. In 2/1 system , limit raise with 3 card support is done via 1NT and hence you really can't blame South for that. It was unfortunate that South had to hear 4♥ on his left, as he would have been planning to bid 3♠ over any 2 level bid to show limit raise. Clearly 5♦ is the culprit

    4.9.7

4.9.8 - I can't figure out how to change the Colours. I don't find them in the options. Shifting to Classic mode and yellow gear - still I don't find it there. While playing with Restoring new defaults and classic defaults, I have lost my color setting. Restore my colors , dont seem to be working for me. I have lost my colours. Please help
  10. I have observed this in the last 2 versions. It may be nothing to do with the BBO client but something to do with my PC, but all the same if some one could help, I would appreciate. When I minimize BBO , the BBO icon disapeears from the task bar an the bottom tray. I just cannot find it anywhere. I am not disconnected as I can hear all the BBO sounds. To play, I have to log in again , this automatically disconnects my previous connection. This is becoming a pain for me as I am not able to multitask other activities. I have now found a work around my minimzing and maximizing other screens and not the BBO application. Has some one seen this problem? What could have gone kaput in my PC? Thanks in advance for your suggestions to help me.
  11. In this scenario, RHO is guarding ♥'s and ♦'s and throw is not neccessary and the ♥ - ♦ squeeze will work as well.
  12. Take my word, after a year, every one in BBO would have improved so much, that every one will be in the Master Club.
  13. Empty list is not a good idea. The No. of people logged on to the site, has shifted to a new location and smaller in font size. Newbies will be lost and get the impression that there is no in sight.
  14. I am back to the No. of columns. If I select different columns for different pages ( like Lobby, Team Matches, Tournaments), can't the filter settings remember these? This is radical. For whatever it is worth Instead of the player list being arranged as columns on the right, if it is arranged as 6 rows ( similar to what you see when you are at a table) just above the chat screen ( with a sliding scroll bar instead of arrows) , there waould be consistency in displays in all pages and the problem of choosing columns can be eliminated once for all. I also feel, this may be aesthically pleasing to the eye ( I may be wrong on this )
  15. [hv=d=w&v=n&n=s632hak42dj96c976&w=skj1074h5dkqck10843&e=saq985h108d105432c5&s=shqj9763da87caqj2]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] OK, This was the full hand. As Justin and other have noted you are going to have to give 590 many a time. I Doubled and partner passed and Opps collected their 590. Should partner pull to 5♥ with his collection? At this high level, there are no guarantees and you take your pill and bid. In a Team event, you can expect the Opp in your seat, who has to make the same decision when he comes to this crossroad, will make the same call as you and the damage may not be much. This happened in IMP Pairs, and we lost 8 IMPs or so. In a IMP Pair event, I am wondering if a conservative action like a Pass is winning move, as you expect varied results for this hand.
  16. [hv=d=w&v=n&s=shqj9763da87caqj2]133|100|Scoring: IMP You hear the bidding go 1♠ - P - 4♠ and now it it is your turn. How do you value your hand and what are your agreements here?[/hv]
  17. Good job. I like 6 colums in Lobby, 1 column in Main Bridge Club, 2 columns in Team Matches and 1 column in Tournament screen. I will really love this, if I have this option. 3 columns gets a bit clumsy in the Tournament and Main Bridge Club.
  18. On home soil, it will be difficult to beat the Indians. I will be rooting for them.
  19. You can try 4♣ and expect pd to understand it as ♥ support with ♣ cue. The ♣K is a very valuable card, so I am going to try for slam. This is the only encouraging noise you can give you pd. Even if he sign off in 4♥, I would RKC in 4NT. There is a very good chance he will show 3 key cards and then ♥Q, you can settle in Grand. If he shows 2 key cards, settle in 5♥. The only call, you dont want to hear is 2 keys + trump Q. If you hear this, you will need to say a prayer and hope the cards are well placed or he has the ♥J as well.
  20. It can't be a UK thing only. I live in different time zone and this is what I observed regarding slowness 1) I was registered for a tourney and was in the tourney screen. You see on screen, Tourney will start in 1min and after sometime, Tourney will start in . min During the time I saw this "Tourney will start in . min ", I could see the all the Director's chat to the Tournament giving instructions. The chat appeared to be coming without any delay. From this, I could guess, that the tourney probabaly had started and after probably a full minute, the table with the cards opened. This was strange and it is the 1st time I am seeing it. 2) My pd kept saying, he has posted the cc ( Old convention card, not FD) and when I click CONV and then on "Show old convention card window", nothing would happen. I tried clicking on it several times during the course of the tournament and finally gave up.
  21. I voted for 2♣. Partner will strive to keep the bidding open. It is not the same with 2♥. In any case, depending on how you value your hand, 2♣ and 3♣ are better choices than 2♥ or 3♥, simply because you show 9-10 cards of total 13 compared to only 6 with 2♥ or 3♥.
  22. This has been suggested here before. As long you don't have control, as who marks you as friend, this is potential for spam.
  23. There should be only 1 person, having the title "A" Can we know who this person is?
  24. If I remember right - inquiry & Cascade were taking the responsibility for the convention files. If you send it to them, they could upload it to the conventions database.
