While creating Team Matches on web version, Chat to Lobby is sorely missed. I understand the issues for not allowing Chat to Lobby using the Web version. As it currently stands, there are not many players who are clicking on the empty seats if a TM is formed without all 8 members. I would suggest that as soon as a TM is created with atleast 1 seat unfilled, that the system generates an Automated message to Lobby ( this way there is a control on the No. of messages that is sent to Lobby) and people who want to join the TM should be able to right click on the message and join the TM screen with the empty seats shown. This way the empty seats would be filled up pretty soon. If this can be done both for Windows users and Flash users, that would be great. The good thing about this version, the TM starts when 1 table of 4 members is seated. The 2nd table can be formed even as the 1st table is playing. However the 2nd table has to be filled within a specific period of time. I am not sure what that time is. I remember when I was in the 3rd or 4th deal, the Team Match was closed on us as we are not able to get another 4 for the 2nd table. Though I appreciate the progress made on the Team Match front in the web version, there is still scope for improvement. As a TM organiser, I still prefer to use windows version for creating Team Matches.

I have 9000 odd logins and would prefer an Option to hide this information.

BBO iPhone flash client now possible?
Dwingo replied to ulven's topic in Suggestions for the Software
Anyone has any experience playing online Bridge at http://www.bridgeisland.com/ using your Apple iphone or ipad?. This App is US$5 from Apple App Store. I am planning to buy an iphone 4 when it gets released in my country and would like some feedback on how it is to play online with such a small screen. Is it worth the 5 bucks? -
Not able to see lead. Yesterday, looks like was stuck at a table. My LHO was on lead, and he says he had made the lead. I couldn't see it on my screen. My Internet connection was OK, I was able to see and chat to the table, my other internet apps were all running. Had to voluntarily exit out of BBO and come back. When I joined the table, I could see the lead.

Maybe Fred can experiment with 1) Black borders throughtout (like in the Windws version ) instead of Red and Black mixed 2) Make the black borders thinner 3) Shorten the height of the cards a bit and broaden it a bit.

I play Singleton if there is Super Acceptance ( bid of inbetween suit, in this case 2NT) and 2nd suit if there is normal acceptance ( 3C in this case )

After 2 Passes, playing 2/1 GF with Drury, what is your opening bid in 3rd seat? Would like to hear your thoughts/reasons for your decision.[hv=d=n&v=b&s=sakj10xxxhxxdxxcxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv]

SA. CA. Cash all Spades. Cash top Hearts. If ♥ is 3-3 game is over. If ♥ is 4-2 with LHO having 4, play 4th H and end play in ♥'s for an additional trick in ♦ or ♣. If RHO has 4 ♥'s, then play a low diamond and cover whatever ♦ East plays. So knowing what those ♦ pips are will be useful

Why (IMO) delayed vugraph is not the answer
Dwingo replied to fred's topic in General BBO Discussion
Agree with Adam, Short sessions. No breaks. Simultaneous starts. Play boards in same order in both tables. 15 min Vugraph delay. By the time Vugraph Audience sees the deals, they would have been played out at both the tables. -
Thank Greg. When I hit Update URL, if the URL created is automatically transformed into a tiny url, it will be great. http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?showtopic=32639

Reg. Do you consider your list of friends private, or can we show them to people who have marked you as a friend? Able to vote multiple times, so results can be manipulated by vested interests.

Sad to see the Aussies make an early exit. They missed Haydo and Gilly and booting Symonds did not help their cause. If only the top Aussie players had 2 weeks of IPL practice in South Africa, it would have done them a world of good. The Islanders can vouch for that. 20-20 is a different ball game. Waiting to see, who in this World Championship will be able to read Mendis and take him ON. Fake IPL Player continues his blogging even after IPL is over. Have fun reading. http://fakeiplplayer.blogspot.com/

I have the same problems, I haven't got my April09 and May09 issues. I have complained and they have said I will get a replacement. I haven't got the replacement still. In 2008, I had similar problems atleast on 4 out of the 12 months. Disappointing.

Card Counting Practice
Dwingo replied to effervesce's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Apart from Fred's "A new game the whole family can play" which is pinned in BBO Forums, I remember seeing another website that was very useful to practice your card counting skills in bridge. This website had more than 1 suit in play. Unfortunately I did not bookmark that page then. I tried googling and I am unable to find. If anyone can remember seeing such a website, I would appreciate if they could post the link Thanks. -
Is it possible now for a Web client to join a partner using a Windows client who has opened a Table in Partnership bidding of Windows client?

Thanks for the link. Obviously I don't read all the posts.

Is there a consensus among experts, as to the meaning of a Transfer to Opponents suit after a NT overcall, say in the following situations. Systems "ON" after the NT overcall 1) (1♠) - 1NT - P - 2H 2) (2♠) - P - P - 2NT - P - 3H If there is no consensus, what is the best use of these empty bids when we play TRANSFERS ON, after the NT overcall

He is excited hearing your 2S bid and is making a slam exploration. From the bidding he knows you will short in hearts and you will hesitate to explore slam with the wasted heart values in hearts because of 1NT. 3H tells you that his H stopper is Jxxx and there is no wasted value in H, interested in co-operating. Whether it is based on S fit or D fit is not clear, but will place the contract after you bid out shape with 4C. Off course this maybe totally non standard, but this should be plausible explanation for the 3H bid.

The Marks for the different answers in now available for download ( which was not there earlier ) from the website. Looking at the marks awarded for each question, you will now remember what was the answer you gave for this contest. Not a good way to conduct this, but something is better than nothing.
