  1. I chose the first option for I would get to 6NT after the 2♦ response to stayman. 17+16=33. And it's better if partner receives the lead in a Major.
  2. I'm probably not gonna be outbid if we compete so I hope I can get more info by starting low, in case it is correct to stop short of game.
  3. Team match, all red, after two passes your RHO opens 3♦, you hold: ♠K8xx ♥AKQ87 ♦K7x ♣A What would you do? What would you do over a 4♦ pre-empt?
  4. Team match, red vs white your partner opens 3♠ after a pass by dealer, you hold: ♠QJxx ♥--- ♦AKQJT4 ♣xxx Say your RHO passes, what would you ideally do? Say you don't have any agreements for the 'ideal', what would you do? How would your call change if RHO bids 4♥?
  5. 3 spades, 6+ clubs, do something partner. I suppose 1NT was sandwich, but even if it wasn't.
  6. I'd say North. South announced his/her interest in slam and also his/her lack of club control. North should KC I suppose.
  7. I wonder whether West hesitated during the bidding or something.
  8. A pair playing precision (the only pair in the tournament playing that system, in a club where 2/1 or SAYC are the only systems played), arrives at a table and the first hand is opened 2♣. Opener's partner alerts and the next player asks (playfully) 'Is it weak?'. Responder answers, 'No. it's constructive'. After two passes the next player is surprised and calls the Director. What's the ruling?
  9. Partner's pass is what bothers me. If he had shown hearts (and some HCP's) by doubling, I'd try 3NT. If I do that now I might get a heart lead. Doubling and then 3NT runs the risk of partner bidding 4♥ with 5 (in case partner doesn't bid 4♥). I might reluctantly pass but x or 2♠ or 3♣ would cross my mind instead.
  10. I voted Q but if 3NT is support for spades then it's KC.
  11. 1♥-3♥ 1Maj-2m 2x-2Maj=10-11 with only 2 cards 1Maj-2m 2x-3M=16+ 3+ cards fit
  12. I'm between Pass and 3NT. I'll choose the game, it looks more interesting.
  13. Well, I thought of ruffing a spade in hand but it doesn't look worth the hassle (unless it's MP's?). I'll just take out their trumps and play a club to the 10; If I lose to the Queen I suppose a spade will come back, so I'll win and play a club to the Jack. I suppose I'll take the diamond finesse unless the ♣9 has appeared already. If the club 10 loses the Ace I'll need to know how hearts broke, if it wins I'm not sure what to do next.
  14. Well, 3♦>2♦ but 3♦<2♠/3NT, so I guess you're right. But North did worse. After 1♣-Pa-1♠-2♦-PASS if you're playing support double there are at least 10 cards in clubs for N/S; if you're not playing support doubles there are at least 9.
  15. I would say South was wrong on the first one, too, why play on a 7'card fit when a 9-card (at least) fit is available?
  16. 5NT: let partner choose a slam. If he bids 6♦ I'll be tempted to bid 7. I suppose partner should have all the HCP's outside clubs but I don't want to risk it in the other suits.
  17. I agree that double is fine and pass is not. However I'd prefer partner to bid only 3♥, but I could be resulting.
  18. 1♠. I hope to get more info that way, hopefully that info won't be Pass.
  19. Also, if there was a possibility of you needing a heart switch (you could hold a void) then the Queen might ask for that switch. But I suppose that's unlikely in this situation: heart tricks are unlikely to go away.
  20. [hv=pc=n&w=sj2hkj9762dqj643c&e=saqt95haqt83d9c83&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=1s2c2h3c4dp?]266|200[/hv] Let's suppose West cue-bids 5♣, is this 'correct' or is it an overbid? Does East get to the slam after that cue-bid? Is the slam good?
  21. "In 1962, I was walking with Ozzie down Park Avenue in New York. A man approaches, and he and Jacoby spot each other. The man asks: 'How'd you do?' Jacoby says: 'Down one.' We continue walking, and I ask for an explanation. Jacoby says the man was kibitzing him in a grand slam on December 7th, 1941, when the word came that Pearl Harbor had been attacked. The kibitzer jumped up and left. As soon as the deal was over, Jacoby (on his way to enlist) did the same. They hadn't seen each other since." By the way I didn't receive the April issue which apparently is one of the best ever.
  22. Most of the things that happen on BBO are public. Most of the important tournaments have some kind of records of hands played (and sometimes of bidding and play of the hand). Some Directors or plain players usually want to know the opinion of this crowd about what to do with a hand which happened to occur in a not so immaculate environment. So I think posting about this should be allowed. What I think is wrong is accusing someone even in a veiled way (like by stating what happened in a hand and saying which tournament and which round, information that can lead to an easy internet research to discover the bad guy) or posting a huge amount of hands that could be traced in the myhands feature of BBO. This is where the line should be drawn I think. The topic in question had (as mentioned before) a couple of hands that could be explained without recurring to cheating as a possibility BUT when thrown together smelled quite badly.
  23. Red vs White: ♠KT8653 ♥AK ♦A96 ♣93 3♣-Pa-Pa-3♠ Pa-4♦-Pa-??? What's your call?
