  1. X on the first one. In the second one Pass is tempting (because of the spades) but I'd expose my head with 2♣.
  2. North for passing and East for bidding 7♦.
  3. All red, teams: ♠Q987 ♥--- ♦KJ65 ♣QT653 1♣-1♠ 2NT (18-19)- ??? Do you try to get to slam? Would you go straight to diamonds or would you try to find a 5-4 club fit? If you wanted to find about clubs, which structure do you use?
  4. [hv=pc=n&w=sj9862hkt742da2c9&e=sq5ha3dt97cakq862]266|100[/hv] West deals, white vs red. Where will your bidding take you and where would you prefer to be?
  5. All white, teams: ♠--- ♥AJ9832 ♦T983 ♣A76 Partner opens 1♣ after an initial pass by LHO. 1♥ from us: 1. What do you bid over 1♠ from partner: a. If he never hides spades. b. If he hides spades when balanced. 2. What do you bid over 1NT (12-14) from partner.
  6. White vs Red, teams: ♠75 ♥KT83 ♦K52 ♣AK73 Pa-Pa-1♣-X 2♣-Pa-Pa-2♠ 3♣-3♠-4♣-4♠ Pa-Pa-??? Beyond the fact that 4♣ is awful, does this hand deserve to go to the 5 level or shall we try to defeat the game we, apparently, pushed them to?
  7. Red vs White ♠AT9753 ♥J7 ♦Q873 ♣T 2NT (20-21) by partner as dealer, how do you proceed? Let's suppose partner shows no fit (i.e. only 2 spades), how would you continue? Let's suppose partner does show fit, what about then?
  8. 2♣ is 6-10. The thing is opener might want to invite to 3NT WITHOUT a diamond stopper. But I think 2♦ could help in that situation: it's forcing, partner can even show his range if he has the stopper, etc.
  9. No, not much reason. Not a good slam when you watch both hands either.
  10. [hv=pc=n&s=sk86haj843datca54&n=sa7hq75dkq93ck763&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=p1hp2dp3np6hppp]266|200[/hv] ♠Q is led.
  11. Pa-1♣-1♦-2♣ Pa-3♣ What do you play 3♣ as? What's better?
  12. When you say 'where' you try to mean 'not who'? I suppose you could blame it on the fact E/W don't have a mixed raise bid available? (Is that applicable here?) Or maybe that their teacher didn't teach them that 5332 doesn't make a good barrage? Or that A+AK+KJ are great assets defensively? That's definitely what I'm trying to find, I don't exactly want to 'beat' any teammates, I just want to find where we should/could have done better.
  13. [hv=pc=n&s=saj8532h65dj3c762&w=skthqj972d974cq83&n=sq974hkdqt65cat54&e=s6hat843dak82ckj9&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=p1h1s4h4s5hppdppp]399|300[/hv] (I'm not sure who doubled the final contract though) At the other table the bidding went: Pa-1♥-2♠-4♥ All Pass Did South win the board by bidding only 1♠? Was 5♥ by East too hurried? How many downs do you think 4♠ would normally go? (26 tables played the hand, 4 played 4♠X, five Easts were pushed to 5♥)
  14. South was dealer. 1♣-Pa-1♥-1♠ But I don't recall exactly what happened from here on. It might have been: 2♥-2♠-4♥-All Pass Out of the 6 pairs who reached 4♠ only 2 made the contract. My common sense has never functioned properly, thus this and many other topics with stupid questions. Anyway I got the answer I wanted: 4♠ is not a normal contract to reach so no fuss should be made about it, so it is not that horrible... for me.
  15. [hv=pc=n&s=sq532hkt32datca73&w=sk96haj7dk43ct862&n=s4hq98654dqj96cj9&e=sajt87hd8752ckq54]399|300[/hv] The N/S part of the team comes with +140 for 2♥ with an overtrick. The E/W brings +100 for 4♥ -2. Do you reprimand E/W for not reaching game in spades? 26 tables played the hand, only 10 played in spades while the rest played in hearts.
  16. ♠32 are missing, if the ♠K falls from partner's hand when we take our ace we congratulate declarer. Otherwise we try to give partner a club ruff.
  17. [hv=pc=n&s=sak76hj86daqj5ckq&n=s982hat74d964cj73&d=w&v=e&b=16&a=ppp1dp1hp2nppp]266|200[/hv] Teams. North-South play 2NT 20-21 HCP balanced but South decided to undervalue the hand based on KQ tight and Jxx, also no tens. North responded to the opening bid but then got scared, having only 5 and 'knowing' partner had 19 tops. Spades were 3-3, ♦KT on-side, ♥KQxx off-side, clubs 4-4. Should the game be reached? Who made a mistake? Should it be made on a club lead from ATxx?
  18. I'm sure you meant a 5-card Major you transfer. I'm also sure there's a 'best' range for using garbage stayman with non-perfect hands: The closer you are to an invite the less you want to stayman. Or maybe that's for hands with no club singleton?
  19. It's a terrible opening bid for a vulnerable dealer. And of course if you're playing in a new partnership use K.I.S.S.
  20. All red, MP's. After 2 passes RHO opens 1♣ and you hold: ♠AKT6 ♥T85 ♦862 ♣A95 Do you enter the bidding? Which is better, X or 1♠?
  21. What? Opponents who have passed now make 6?
  22. Double is for profit, but we're red, they're white: 3NT.
  23. That's exactly the point, there's no Miranda.
  24. [hv=pc=n&s=sjt7ht954dat875cj&n=sak42hkj32dkck643&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=p1cp1hp3hppp]266|200[/hv] Do you have to reach this game? Who should have done better then?
