  2. I suppose the slowly part was a joke.
  3. 1. 4♠ the first round and then we don't have this problem. I suppose I'd bid 5♠ now, but it's better to prevent... 2. ♥2. Hopefully they're missing AK in a red suit, hopefully not diamonds. 3. I don't know how to continue after leaping michaels, what would 5♥ be? How do I invite partner to slam? 4. ♠5. Partner asked for it. 5. 3♥. 3NT over 3♠. If I pass expecting double I'm losing hearts over partner's 3♠ reopening. This might be a terrible misfit though, pass is a strong second option. 6. Pass. Partner will do something if we have something. 7. 3♥. Partner is likely to hold the clubs, let's give some space for his 3NT. Too many problems, better to open several topics.
  4. It is always better for the partnership to know whether they hold 8 or 9 (or 10) trumps, especially if the bidding is competitive. As to the value of the hand, it does look very strong for a single raise so maybe 3♠ is better.
  5. Pass. I don't quite understand the bidding, is partner suggesting a slam or is he just showing a GF hand with two suits. 3♠. It might push them. Doubling doesn't look convincing. Pass is for... pussycats. Double. Partner could have supported hearts (and yes, he could also have doubled) but the vulnerability pushes us.
  6. Probably the methods. North has a great hand, he should either double or bid 3♣. Then they can get to game. After South doubles it gets alittle complicated as South could be merely being polite by doubling in which case jumping to 4♣ (or 5♣) could be really dangerous.
  7. I think double is the normal procedure and although we might have a better contract available there's also a chance we don't (partner hasn't shown anything by passing 2♦ and then 5♦). So I'd double and call the Director in case we missed the slam Frances pictured.
  8. 5, 4, X. Are we just gonna let them play 4♥ just like that in n° 2? Isn't score important? We get 100 for n°2 playing rubber...
  9. Maybe I should have asked this somewhere else, but I thought it would be more standard than it actually is. Anyway, the auction, messed up as it is, falls into the system you're playing, and yes you could have bid 2♣ which would have shown 10-11 but you didn't 'cause you knew doubling and then bidding your clubs was a way to show your hand. 4♦ shouldn't be a cue with hearts 'cause 4♣ was natural, the question was mainly asked to see if pass was a possibility over 4♦ or not. Now, would you pass or bid?
  10. All white, you hold: ♠Kxx ♥Kx ♦AK9x ♣Axxx Bidding goes: Pa-1♦-Pa-1♥ X-??? 1NT=15-17 2NT=18-19 What do you choose?
  11. Let's suppose you and/or your partner play negative doubles to show a hand which cannot bid because (a) it lacks the HCP's to bid at the level it has to, or, (b) it doesn't have the number of cards neccessary to bid the suit. Usually when you double and then bid a new suit you show a hand with a good suit but not enough HCP's to bid your suit. So, you doubled instead of bidding 2♣ (even though you were a passed hand) and now the bidding has gotten here. What is 4♦? What do you do?
  12. They're red, you hold: ♠9842 ♥A4 ♦J ♣KJT432 Pa-Pa-Pa-1♦ 1♠-X-2♠-3♥ Pa-4♣-Pa-4♦ Pa-??? What do you take 4♦ as? What's your call?
  13. All white, your partner opens 2nd hand with 1NT (15-17), you hold: ♠T9 ♥AQJ852 ♦JT ♣T42 What do you bid?
  14. Ok, I see now. I thought it was a new thing. I still don't see the logic of breaking a tie between two teams which played a match against each other by looking at something different than that match. But the rules are the rules are the rules.
  15. What are the rules to solve a tie situation? Let's say two teams in a swiss tournament are tied and: a. They had a match against each other b. They didn't have a match against each other I would think that in case (a) the winner of the match should be the winner of the tie. If they're tied there or if (b) happens then the team with the most imps overall should win. What is the official order?

  17. Yes, I forgot to write that the King took the Queen in that first round of trumps. Yes, North played the 3. I had planty of entries to either hand without touching diamonds, in what case might winning the ♦Q work? So: - ♥3 from North. - No one returned spades (they're not good enough for this I think). - South didn't return a diamond. Does this make you lean towards one or the other having the hearts?
  18. Maybe I had to say that South led a spade to North's J. That LOL after winning played the ♠A and led the ♦9 to the third trick.
  19. [hv=pc=n&w=sk4hj842dq742caq4&e=st5haq97dakj3ck93&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=1np2cp2hp4hppp]266|200[/hv] A spade (6) was led to a confident Jack and Ace. ♦9 was returned, won in hand with the Ace. Dummy was entered with the ♣Q, a heart was played to the Queen and King and South led another club to the ace. How do you continue trumps? I confess something told me hearts were not breaking and I even thought of playing the ♥A to try and catch a singleton K. But that ship has sailed, now what?
  20. Red vs White, opponents bid 2NT-3NT after your partner passes as dealer: ♠A8732 ♥J643 ♦9 ♣Q86 MP vs IMP or is it the same lead?
  21. [hv=pc=n&s=sk2hq7542daqj2cj2&n=sa9843hat83dktca3&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=1sp2hp4cdpprp4np5dp6hppp]266|200[/hv] West leads the ♣9, you take the Ace and proceed to discard the club from the table on the diamonds. However, East ruffs the third round with the ♥6 and plays ♠Q. How do you tackle hearts? What if East returns the ♣K?
  22. P-P-P-1♠ 1NT or in general P-P-P-1X 1NT What is 1NT? Does it make a difference if you're playing teams or pairs? Does Vulnerability matter?
  23. You play 12-20 1-level openings, 21-23 2NT and FG 2♣, how do you deal with this, second seat, red vs white, teams: ♠KJxx ♥AKQ ♦A ♣ATxxx
