  1. If you're playing with a creative partner it might be KB for hearts. But I think kickback is just for minors so maybe it's exclusion? I suppose you just gotta have a long talk with your partner...
  2. I was given a lot of best-sellers books by these LOL's at the club and read 'The Charm School'. It was an interesting concept about spionage and the Cold War. I finished Slaughterhouse V on the weekend. Interesting piece, looking forward to read more from Vonnegut.
  3. [hv=pc=n&w=sk9832h9632dt65cj&n=s5hakjt5d432ckt62&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=p1hdr1s2cp2sp3hp3nppp&p=s3s5sas4sjsq?]266|200[/hv] What do you play? Why?
  4. [hv=pc=n&w=st942hqj6dakqct32&e=sa87hat72d7cakqj4&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=1d(11-15%20could%20be%20singleton)p2cp]266|200[/hv] Although this wasn't exactly my start (my partner bid 1♥ over 1♦) I reached a point where partner made a quantitative bid, should I had accepted? How would you bid and what contract would you reach?
  5. N/S should get their agreements right. Maybe it would be easy to double if North supports hearts, but I doubt West would go on in the bidding in that case. I blame the lack of agreements for not doubling.
  6. Imp pairs: [hv=pc=n&n=st2hkj932dkj865c4&d=e&v=b&b=10&a=1cp1hp1np2cp2dp2np3nppp]133|200[/hv] 2♣ was a relay to 2♦ and 2NT shows a balanced hand (withouth 5 hearts) inviting to 3NT. Would you have given any different call in the bidding at any point?
  7. 1♠ is probably better. Then spades and spades.
  8. It's funny how this was the guy who posted a lot of hands with dubious successful decisions taken at the table by the same player.
  9. Say a pair arrives late to a table and they can't finish all the boards for the round. The Director says it could be played at the end of the tournament. When the tournament finishes a pair from the late play can't stay to play the hand. How do you score that board for that table? Are late plays an obligation?
  10. Some people play that responses over a TO double should show a 5 card suit. Just a matter of agreement. Just tell your partner s/he shouldn't get too excited after your response over a TO double as you might XX if you have 10+ HCP.
  11. White vs Red, teams, you pick up this beauty: ♠K ♥932 ♦AKJ7542 ♣Q9 However, the dealer on your left opens 1♦, your partner overcalls 1♠ and RHO passes. 1♦-1♠-Pa-??? What would you bid? Say it goes on: 1♦-1♠-Pa-1NT Pa-2♣-Pa-??? What should your partner's 2♣ be? What would you bid then and there?

  13. All white, teams, you hold: ♠A532 ♥AK4 ♦T32 ♣932 You're the dealer (Playing 2/1, would you open?): Pa-Pa-Pa-1♣ ??? Do you double? Pa-Pa-Pa-1♣ Pa-1♥-Pa-Pa ??? Do you re-open?
  14. [hv=pc=n&n=sak42ha6dakcat753&d=e&v=b&b=10&a=ppp2np3cp3sp4np5hp5np?]133|200[/hv] Teams. You're playing 21-23 for the 2NT opening bid. 3♣ is normal stayman. 3♠ is 4 or 5 spades. 4NT is quantitative. Now comes the problem: Your 5♥ shows 2 Aces. But you bid it because it shows 5KC without the queen (in spades); and you had a plan. Now your partner bids 5NT: - 5♠ would have asked you to bid 5NT in order to pass. (You expected this and were gonna bid 6NT over 5♠) - 5NT is used to ask for kings. - You play specific kings in answer to this: if you have 2 kings you jump to 7. - You don't want to assume that your partner made a mistake because that goes against the partnership. Then: - Even though you don't like it 'cause you would have bid differently (opening something else, responding 5♣ to show 4 aces or 6NT to end it all), what would you bid in this position? - Have you reached (or seen people reach) a contract at the level of 7 after a quantitative 4NT bid? Is it normal? - What do you think of making this kind of bids up at the table?
  15. How can the Director/system tell the difference between someone who had an errand/problem/etc and someone who just doesn't want to continue the tournament because of the partner s/he's playing with?
  16. 6♥. Probably better than 5♠, which could get us to 6♦, which might go down on a heart ruff.
  17. All white, imp's: ♠7xxx ♥AT97xxx ♦--- ♣Q7 1♦-Pa-??? Say you take this road: 1♦-Pa-1♥-Pa 1NT-Pa-??? Say there's a slight change: 1♦-Pa-1♥-X XX*-Pa-??? *support redouble
  18. 1. I think the hand deserves another try. Yes we might even be down in 4 or 5 but I'm bidding 4♥, which hopefully is a cue-bid. 2. I'd double the pre-empt. I'd bid diamonds over spades.
  19. Both red, imp pairs ♠Kx ♥AKxxx ♦Qxx ♣QJx Pa-2♦*(multi)-??? Say you take 2♦ as a 2♥ opening bid. So you Pass. Pa-2♦*-Pa-3♥**(pass or correct) Pa-3♠-???
  20. White vs Red, teams: ♠QJT9872 ♥QTx ♦x ♣xx 3♦-3♥-Pa-???
