  1. So it is natural not to expect two losers in spades? Is it being too pessimistic to expect three losers in a club contract? The philosophy is to support and if we go down preempts work, right?
  2. [hv=pc=n&w=s9hktdkj986532cqj]133|100[/hv] You're dealer, w/r. Butler.
  3. [hv=pc=n&w=sahkj6dq86ckq8732&e=s62hat97dkt3caj95&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=2h(Hearts%20and%20a%20minor%206-10)3c4sdppp]266|200[/hv] I'm sure the double is not everyone's favorite, so probably East is the culprit. But doesn't the singleton ♠A give you some courage to go on?
  4. Some people like negative-doubling with 6 HCP's, if N-S have such an agreement I'd blame South entirely. North should bid even over 3♣ (3♥ seems ok to me), so I mainly blame him. South had another shot at doing something, but the vulnerability, the shape and the lack of action from North are a little off-putting. So I'd say North 60%, South 40%.
  5. I'd rather open South's hand than West's, especially at this vulnerability. I don't blame them for not opening though.
  6. Would it be different if North had bid 4♠ and then 5♠ over 5♣?
  7. ♥A and ♦J for a finesse. It's a 33 HCP's 6NT but it looks ugly. Spade finesse (small to the J) will be next.
  8. [hv=pc=n&w=sj82hq63dkjt3cj73&e=sht8d852cakqt8652&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=1sp?5c5sdppp]266|200[/hv] Let's say North supports spades showing a good hand (FG+)Is there any reason to double with West's hand?
  9. North forgot to open and then tried to make up for it.
  10. [hv=pc=n&s=saqjhk94daq87caj4&n=s963ha873dj65cq62&d=n&v=e&b=9&a=pp2np3cp3dp3nppp]266|200[/hv] ♠5, ♠3, ♠10, ♠Q. How do you continue?
  11. [hv=pc=n&s=sak8hq532daq95ck4&n=sj54hajdj4caj9753&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1dp2cp2hp3cp4np5hp6nppp]266|200[/hv] ♦3 is led to the 4, 10 and Q. On the ♣K East drops the 10. How do you continue clubs if East is a LOL and if s/he isn't, or is there even a difference?
  12. It surely looks like that but, with 23 HCP's, those great spades and a 3rd seat preempt you shouldn't try it with an unknown.
  13. All white, teams: ♠AJx ♥Tx ♦Qxxxx ♣KTx (Pa)-Pa-(3♣)-4♥ (Pa)-???
  14. At these colours I might prefer to pass. I'm hoping they go down with hearts stacked in partner's hand vs us playing 2♠ on a 3-3 fit if I double.
  15. [hv=pc=n&s=s942hk72dt73c8632&n=sak876hajt5d2cakt&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=pp1n2c(Majors)p2dp4s(Too%20much%3F)pp4nd(What%20should%20this%20mean%3F)5d?p?]266|200[/hv] Who should double? Does the pass from South over 5♦ mean anything?
  16. What do you think is more likely in this hand in these following situations: (a)We play 4♠ vs They play in Diamonds (b)We play 2♣ vs They re-open
  17. Red vs White, teams: ♠Kxx ♥QJxx ♦Q9xx ♣xx Pa-(1♦)-2♣-(Pa) ???
  18. [hv=pc=n&w=sa32hakq86d653ck3&n=st4h75dkq874ct862&d=e&v=b&b=10&a=p1s2hp3h4sdppp]266|200[/hv] I think the double is wrong, probably a thing of the moment. My question is on the defense: Playing UDCA, you lead the ♥K and then ♥A, which asks for the count (is that correct in this situation?), declarer plays the ♥T & ♥4. What would you play if partner plays: 1st Trick-2nd Trick ♥3-♥9 ♥2-♥J ♥9-♥J ♥3-♥J ♥2-♥3 ♥2-♥9 Or maybe it doesn't matter? What do you play to the third trick?
  19. I also went down, but on 4♥ the first time. East should have shown ♦, that would have made things more interesting, though the way the cards lie... But nice one if you saw it at the table. By the way, what are you doing in Panamá instead of going to Mangaratiba?
  20. You're red against red and the opening was at the second seat, what are the standards for that?
  21. Might the opponents have taken out the wrong card from the bidding box and meant to open 3♠? I vote for 4♥, too afraid of spades to double or bid 3NT.
  22. All red, you hold: ♠AKJ ♥J ♦J98 ♣AK76xx (Pa)-4♥-(Pa)-??? We do not play NAMYATS.
  23. 2♥ seems correct as showing both red suits at this point and colours should surely be stronger. It's not that the hand looks like a great preempt being red, but the 5-card side suit gives it a boost nobody expects...
  24. They have a powerhouse or partner's got diamonds. I'd rather let them get to whatever contract they can reach and see if partner can defeat them. I really don't see an alternative to Pass.
  25. All Red, Teams: ♠A ♥AKJT ♦Qxx ♣AKJxx ♠Tx ♥Q9xxxx ♦Jx ♣Qxx (1♠)-X-(3♠*)-Pa!? (Pa)-X-(Pa)-4♥ (4♠)-X!?-(Pa)-Pa!? (Pa) Is 4♥ instead of pass correct and automatic? Is the third double correct? Is the second pass by South too wimpy?
