  1. I suspect that most people would bid 5♥ on worse hands than youd expect.
  2. I misread the vulnerability at first and thought we were at favorable, in which case I suppose I would stick my neck out. Since we are at unfavorable, bidding is insane.
  3. 3♣ is a bit conservative but I suppose no other bid has more merit.
  4. Slam? Lol. I would obviously boost it to 4 though.
  5. I'd bid 3NT. too lazy to read all the posts.
  6. Whether to double with this hand should belong on the B/I forum. Whether to double with less should not be there.
  7. Some people play better minor Lebensohl in this auction. You can double and convert if playing that since partner will bid 3♣ if he wants to play in clubs.
  8. I'm going to disagree with many of the posts so far. 3♥ was a bad bid (prefer 4♦). I'm not 100% sure I should bid 7♦. I would probably bid 6♣ and pass if partner bid 6♦. 1NT was a bad bid (prefer 2♥). I would bid 6♣. IMO the chance that this is down when 5♥ makes is less than the chance that we will play in 5♥ (making or otherwise) when 6♣ is cold were I to bid 5♥. I strongly prefer 5♥ to double. At MPs I would certainly double, but I do not like doubling partscores at IMPs unless we have them down 2 for nearly sure. I would bid 4♣ on this hand. I suspect partner is 3226. First auction: 4NT if it is natural and NF. 5♦ otherwise. Second auction: I thought most people played this as RKC in diamonds. If this isn't what it means, then I would bid 5♦. I refuse to cuebid when my hand strength is unknown and I have the worst possible hand for partner.
  9. Agree. I would X with less too. Agree.
  10. I think this is pretty close; I would probably bid 1♠
  11. My view of this auction must be different from everyone else's. I think North has about what he has shown with 2♥ and South should have bid 3♠, not 2♠. I probably would have shown a mixed raise with South's cards if that was an option...and this is clearly a max for that.
  12. I wouldn't save because I don't want to upset partner if we have it beat. Weak partners are more understanding if you fail to find the sacrifice. This may not be the right outlook on this hand, but depending on your partner's personality it may be right for your relationship in the long run.
  13. You will get to game as long as you don't bid 2. Partner has Axxxx Qx Kx Axxx. My vote goes to a 3♥ bid.
  14. To me, this is close between 2♠, 3♣, and 4♦. I don't understand any of the other choices.
  15. You could have bid 3♣ over 2♠, but partner is the real culprit here. He should have bid 2♥ over 1NT, which obviously would get you to slam.
  16. Diamond. This auction calls for an aggressive lead, and this is the only one available.
  17. I remember this hand but not the outcome or the action that was taken at the table. I would open 3♠, but i can understand opening 2♠ as we are more likely to get to hearts when it is right. I don't see how opening 1 is better, and 4 is too aggressive at these colors IMO.
  18. so you're playing invitational JS? would you have bid 3♥ over 1♠?
  19. x J98xxxxx AQx x all white IMPs 1♠-1NT 2♣-?? no opposing bidding
  20. After our NT overcall is doubled for penalties, Mike and I play that XX is a transfer to clubs and N♣ is a transfer to diamonds. We don't play this after 1NTopen-(penaltyX) because we like to keep the natural penalty XX in that auction. Penalty XX is useless after NT overcalls get doubled -- they always have you.
  21. i guess i should ask if we are playing hi-low = even or hi-low = odd
  22. Club. This is right if declarer started with KQJxxxx KQx Qx x, but even if declarer has the ♣A he may play it and hope for 3-3 diamonds or a heart finesse if you play a club fast/confidently.
  23. I wasnt upset, just distracting myself from programming at your (and my own) expense =) No hard feelings
