Double

2♥, but I would rebid 3♥ if they tried to play in spades.
-
I don't agree with this at all. In 4th seat those bids are used for hands that don't want to sell out but are too offensive to let the opponents into the auction at the 1-level. Here's what I consider a normal 4th seat 3♣ opener: ♠Kx ♥x ♦Qxx ♣AQJ9xxx
-
♠Q98763 ♥J ♦Q9643 ♣A all red IMPs

Please share your methods after partner opens a weak 2-Major. You can assume that by "weak 2-Major" I mean a natural bid of 2M (i.e. not multi) showing less than opening strength and not clarifying whether a side suit is present. It would help if you prefaced your post with your preempting style. Picking one from this list [loose, normal, tight] would be descriptive enough.

You have basically a balanced 0 count and you're concerned that you should have done something here?
-
Time to see the other hands?

What are you worth after partner balances?

I would raise to 3♥. Partner;s lower limit and upper limit are both slightly lower than for, say, an opening bid, so it pays to be a little sounder opposite. -
I don't understand the order you made your plays in, it seems unneccessary since you can just pull trumps and then play AQ of spades pitching clubs then heart heart heart ruff, ruff back to hand, give up a heart and claim. Your line totally gives up on 4-3 spades and risks some weird things like 6-1 hearts for no reason. I suppose if hearts were 7-0 (no Lightner) then I am down. I suppose I also lose if LHO started with 6 hearts and 1 diamond. edit: obviously your line is a couple percent better
-
Hand 1: I think East (opener) has bid his hand and that West (responder) needed to take another call over 5♥.
-
2. I strongly suspect that LHO led a singleton spade. I would: win ♠K cash ♦AQ ♥AK pitching a club ruff a heart cash last diamond if needed ♠AQ pitching clubs Now if hearts were 4-3 I can ruff a spade back to hand and give up a heart, then claim. There aren't that many lines that make when LHO has 1 spade and 3 diamonds, and I really think that's what's going on.

I think I'd bid RKC
-
I would switch to a low heart. IMO a vast majority of the time partner will have ♣KJ97x in this position. True, declarer *could* play low from ♥Kx or ♥Kxx here, but it's much more likely that he will play the ♥K since low gives up all (well, nearly all) hope to make the contract when clubs are 5-3 or worse. Low is also better than ♥Q when partner has the singleton ♥K. Finally, if partner did happen to lead from small clubs, we will have protected our ♣Q by playing high at trick one and returned the best possible suit at trick two.

If 2♠ is non constructive, how do you show a good 3-card raise like a 3334 10 count? If the answer to the above is "double", you're playing a non-standard method. Since your 2♠ is weaker on average than a standard 2♠, I would only bid 3♠ with the given hand. If the answer to the above is "bid 2♠" then I can buy the 4♠ call suggested by some of the posters, but I admit that it would only occur to me to bid 3♠ at the table.
-
I would bid 3♦ because partner already knows my hand is crap and I really don't want to wrongside 3NT should that be the final contract.
-
RHO wins ♦A and plays back a spade. You take the finesse and it loses to the 10. LHO plays back a spade, RHO follows. Your play. "3-card limit raise or 2+♣GF" is what the bid means. Opener responds as if to Reverse Drury. 1M-2♦ would be 5+♦.

What defense did you come up with? unusual 6NT

3S opening on your right, what to bid
Apollo81 replied to GriffenMac's topic in Interesting Bridge Hands
a. Dbl..pass b. Dbl..Dbl c. 4♦..pass d. 4♦..Dbl Playing with a random expert I would rank these in the listed order....(a) being the best and (d) being the worst. Honestly though, I can see myself choosing any of the above four options depending on partner. -
5♦ assuming no special agreements
-
I'm sure I wouldn't come in on the South hand.
-
Last night I had a pair prealert that they werent playing Jacoby 2NT....... Lol
-
That would be an improvement, and technically would work since they could only take advantage in obvious and flagrant fashion which would be easily exposed. Still I don't see the point, how often have you wanted to double opener's artificial rebid there? It's not opener's rebid -- it's responder's rebid that I am interested in. 2NT-3♣-3♦-3M is frequently an auction that I would like to double if they are playing Puppet. Perhaps we should take this 1 step further....3♦ should not be alerted either but responder's major rebid should be if it means something other than a 5-card suit (this would cover Smolen too) I suppose this is pretty much exactly what you were suggesting anyway?
-
What about PS being unalertable but making opener's rebid alertable if it's a Puppet Stayman answer? This way opener has to make the critical decision before anyone alerts.
