easiest pass ever

Maybe you're right, I was goin with karlson heh. I thought stronger implied strong balanced rather than weak unbal, with strong unbal still splintering. Even in that case it seems sort of a wash (and definitely worse after 1♣ 1♠). Like 1♦ 1♠ - Mini splinters: 3♥ is unbal with short hearts, 3♠ is unbal with short clubs or bal. Suggestion: 3♥ is bal, 3♠ is unbal with short hearts or with short clubs. Yeah I don't think that is a wash, I think knowing whether partner is balanced with an ace more in HCP is way more useful than knowing which shortness partner has half the time and being in the dark the other way.

Well that was quick. Yeah the showup sqz is obv the right technical line, but if you can read the opps then you are 100 % on the trump squeeze. Obv I figured I was like 100 % to guess it right ;) I think vs very good opps I would not go for it, but against anyone else I would.

HAH I TRICKED YOU! Ok actually I can't read, there was even a STAR lol. At least 655321 has not gone mad, how could I ever doubt him!

[hv=n=sqxhakj9xdaj9cktx&s=sakxxht8xdkq7xxxc]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] You get to 7D no opposing bidding, on the CQ lead. How do you play? Is the level of your opps relevant?

YOU COPIED ME BY SAYING MAD!!!!!!!!!!

This totally depends on so many factors, as most social situations do.

So are there any hands where you have a 5cM and you don't transfer? Just wondering. If I were to ever pick up QT9 65432 QT9 QT I am sure I would pass. Where do I draw the line? I don't know, I don't remember ever passing in real life, maybe I have once.

Even after RHO has shown one? I mean even if they psyche sometimes, it is still way less common imo than them just having 4 spades. I think slowing down after that seems prudent, but maybe I'm just overadjusting too much. Your 2C then raise plan seems sensible to me, driving to game just seems really mad. Still prefer a conservative 2H, maybe I've seen too many crappy doubles heh.
-
Why? RHO preempted our Kx, LHO is not going to bid with a weak hand and spades, and neither is partner. Seems like there is a significant chance of this ending the auction.
-
I think the goal of this would be to differentiate between an unbal 14 and a bal 18, presumably you usually bid 3M with both types. To me it is similar to weak NTers saying they can bid accurately over 1m 1M 2M when it could be a bal 16 or an unbal 11, they are not equivalent imo and seperating them would be useful.
-
lol I'd just bid 2H. Color me naive but I don't think they psyched so my hand is pretty awful with spades on my right and all honors in short suits.
-
If I transferred and partner super accepted I'd bid game, ergo I transfer.
-
I would never consider doing anything other than passing 1S with the north hand. I hate to result, but it seems typical that partner game tries and we are too high. Bidding is obv good if we have game (and with prime cards, it's possible to construct hands which make game), or if we can stop in 2 whatever and make when they would have balanced over 2S and made 3C, but the latter seems like an unlikely parlay. The former is only useful if you raise to 2S, which is why if I did bid that would be my bid (trying to get to 4S). Bidding 2D will pretty much never get you to game (since you're passing all game tries), so it seems to have very little upside.
-
4D would be a good value bid but "everyone" plays leaping michaels now. I'd probably just bid 5D, this hand seems way too strong of a player for 3D, but obv it's tough to evaluate since opposite a stiff D our hand is much worse.

Seems good

When someone gives me a bridge problem, I answer it in the context in which it was given. In this case that means that I assume I'm opposite a typical member of these forums. If the original posted wanted to know what I'd do opposite me, he'd have said so. Heh fair enough, I think having 6 card suits is fairly normal for most people w/r, but it depends a lot who it is I guess.

Oscars?! I bet my intrade roll on avatar...ONE TIME BABY.

Even if keycard is more frequent (I might agree), I don't see how it could be more useful when it comes up.
-
Def with gnasher on this one. "Minors can X" is not very useful with extreme shape, partner is passing a lot, and might even bid 5H over a double. How about keycard can guess a number of hearts pretty often.
-
I'd X, don't find any other option appealing.

Obv if you think they've guessed wrong most of the time or even close to but a bit less than half the time you should not save. IMO they have guessed right most of the time because given partners short hearts, and RHOs 7 card club suit, partner will have 3 clubs a lot. IMO it is just a question of how often partner will have 3 clubs. If partner has a heart void it's always right to save unless he's 4072 (seems quite unlikely). Partner might have a heart void a fair amount of time given that they went nuts without the AK of their long suit. If partner has a stiff heart and you think partner has 6 diamonds for a w/r 3D a lot, then he will almost always have 3 clubs. Given your preempting style I am surprised you don't think partner has 1-6 in the reds that often. Partner having a doubleton heart doesn't make sense to me given how nuts they went with a bad suit and a hand only worth 4C to begin with. So even though I think they've guessed wrong some of the time, I think most of the time they have gotten it right, so why shouldn't we save in that case?
