I was at 9 for about 14 years, finally made it to 9+ the next jump might not be able to make it unless i spend more money

IMHO the point is that it seems like players on BBO should be aware that there people out there looking at their data looking for people who collude. I always thought maybe BBO would make some sort of announcement about it they make announcements for everything else.
-
@paulg EDGAR has alot to do with BBO especially ACBL BBO games ..... as most people who have been convicted by the ACBL for cheating, collusion, whatever took place in ACBL BBO games. you can check out the ACBL under discipline list, read the case files, most of the people listed were doing this on BBO.

was looing on the site for things about EDGAR, haven't been able to find any info if there has been anything on it trying to ferret out those who cheat....just curious?

pigpenz replied to OrShoham's topic in BBO Tournaments Discussion
i thought I had heard they lowered the prize pool, but that was on BridgeWinners not there -
supply chain shortage with masterpoints brought this on ...barf

thanks i had read about that but didnt know if it applied to what I was doing. I used to have the same problem on bridgewinners about a year ago

I can remember playing against Barry Goren and a client Sid Grossman. every card Barry kept saying just take your 9tricks Sid....it did get old, but we didnt do anything.

Club Directors are a different breed.....they are trying to keep customers.( most of the time) so Yes I have found f2f club directors not always being aware of what the laws are. In ACBL BBO I have found that the TDs generally dont do anything or ever tell you what they are doing. so you can waste alot of time calling a TD to the table only to tell them your problem and never getting an answer....so in the end you just lose time in the round. take for example: looking at some results from a week ago, about 15 pairs out of 180 tables opened 2♣ hold akxxxxxxx of spades. and nothing else. do you call the TD or not?

For about a month I have been having problems loading BBO when using EDGE. it just spins endlessly and never loads for name and logon. If I click on my VPN it will load in Edge with no problem. I dont have this problem with Firefox with or without browser, I am just curious as to what is going on.

Best thing to do is to take your mouse and minimize the chat windows so you dont have to see it, if you dont see it, it never happened!

Bidding against the field
pigpenz replied to DavidKok's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
My partner and I used to pay against Billy Miller and his clients. Billy is firm believer in going with the field. The stronger your partnership why do you want to go against what everyone else is doing? in 70's and 80's we used to play 10-13 NT and 5 card preempts in two bids. that puts you antifield from the start. We used to do real well in regionals but everntually you learn to count and play and dont necessarily need to go anitfield. use BBO Helper to look at hands in an acbl tournament and check par result vs the field, par doesnt seem to be par very often. Its a good place to look since sometimes there are 200 plus tables.quite often par is 3♠= for 140, but one third of the field is in game making.....3♠+1 for +170 is still a very good score. -
i was just showing what a simulator shows using that hand opposite a strong NT
-
I would play walsh transfers and show slam try hand with solid clubs 1nt 2♦ 2♥2♠ cancels transfer forces 2NT 2nt 3♥showing solid clubs, 3♣ would show broken club suit its sort of old Max Hardy 2/1 style or Aces scientific put into simulator where NT opener has 2 or 3 aces maybe HAHA gerber helps, who would have thought. 3 aces both grands are about 80% 2 aces both small slams are about the same maybe we are being too scientific?
-
sometimes GIB get it right and sometimes it doesnt. would the bots have bid 5♣ next?
-
I played 10-13 1NT for about 25 yrs, just come to terms with your partner. you may pass last hand and opps may balance, so many different things happen with these hands....whats your 1NT bid over 1♦? Put in lead captain bidding desiscions, made 1000 hands with your hands as south and constraints on north. if you can bypass 4 card major that changes things too. 2-3♠ 2-3♥ 2-5♦ 2-6♣ 6-10hcp no bidding by opps 1NT makes 85.9% 2nt makes 59.3% 3NT makes 24.4% Also what does 2NT show over 1♦ 10-12 or 11-12

so GIB would never lead Q from KQ109...? I gave up on robots, but sometimes get stuck playing with them when someone leaves a game....they suck!
-
to me all you can do is file it with a recorder if possible, or use double dummy solver to look up all hands that this pair has played in the last several months to see if this is a regular occurrence....but with out any relative information it goes down as a psyche.
-
I have played LTC back in 70's....it works ok, but as you gain experience you begin to see its flaws.... to Losing Trick Count its sort of a corollary to THE LAW.

It's been awhile since I've seen something this bad
pigpenz replied to wbartley's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
I guess it wasnt forcing to 4NT :( -
I thought it was upto Fred and Uday along time ago who got a star wink wink not all are good players
-
I probably have them somewhere, in the old bbo....you could use the GIB.exe file but that was before it went to the browser.
-
most of the times when I use them they always rebid 5 card major with a minimum
-
What does this double mean?
pigpenz replied to AL78's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
try going to your hand history or BBO my hands its works better than most memories -
one good thing to look at there are a bunch of hands from JEC matches I look to do a query where JEC opens 1NT and opps overcall....its a good way to learn how they handle interference.
