  1. I'd overcall 3♣, and compete with 3NT for the minors over 3♠. If 4♠ comes back to me, I'll pass,
  2. [hv=d=s&v=e&n=sakt8h96dkq5caq94&s=sq62hkqjt7d4ck832]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] You're playing 2/1 but with Kaplan Inversion, i.e. 1H-1S shows a forcing NT so when South opens 1H you have to respond 2C. How do people play 3C here? Do people play it as showing extra values? If so, why and what do you do with minimums... If 3C doesnt show extra values, then how would you continue as North? 4C? What would you expect partner to bid over that with a minimum...5C? If North wanted to demand cue bids...would he show values at the 3 level and then bid 4C? Basically....how would people bid these hands, playing 2/1...try and pretend you play KI or that you start 1H-2C :)
  3. Yeh, I like 3♦ with such a good suit.
  4. I think I agree with what Frances says...your spades aren't good enough to bid 3NT.
  5. I'd have to say that considering bidding at unfavourable is absolute cocaine!

    Slam?

It would be pretty cool to have 2NT here as a relay...why is 3[H] a "generic" game try though? I'd have thought 3[H] would set ♠ as trumps...don't you have 2NT/3♣/♦ for game tries?
  7. Like most of the players, I would bid 4 in my sleep and expect to make.
  8. Looks a bit unlucky to me. I don't think south should make a responsive double. He/She wants to compete to 3[H] opposite a normal take out double. I certainly don't think south should "convert" to 4H...
  9. I dont think I want to bid on - I didn't at the table. "The 5 level is for the opponents" and I wouldn't be very suprised if 5♣ is going down
  10. Although it's not really the point of the question for those who wanted to know partner's hand, I've been told it was the following [hv=s=sxhtxxxxdkxxxcxxx]133|100|[/hv] Obviously he doesn't really have his bid and 5 is down anyway
  11. [hv=d=e&v=n&s=saxhkqxxdajcaxxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] RHO opens 3♠ and you decide to double. LHO raises this to 4♠ and partner bids 5[H]...do you bid on?
  12. Some of the seedings are ridiculus, absolutely ridiculus! Not sure that the team MickyB mentioned was one of the better teams not to be seeded though....I'd have though they were one of the weaker teams

    Your call

For people who are interested, I doubled and this was passed out. Dummy came down with ♠ATxx ♥KJ9x ♦QJxx ♣J And only one of my diamonds was standing up. Fortunately however, partner came up with ♠xx ♥AQxx ♦xx ♣K9xxx I'm not sure of the club pips exactly but partner made two ♣ tricks.
  14. [hv=d=e&v=e&s=sk9xxht8xdak9xxxc]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] 3♣ on your right, your go.

    Your call

at another table...east then protected with 5S...only to see lho bid 6D judging that his partner must be short in diamonds...and then this was doubled...and a heart led!!

Passing was the winning action. x KJx AJ9xx xxxx Axxx A QTxxxxx x I doubled...and they took their 13 top tricks on the non club lead :D
  17. [hv=d=w&v=n&s=skqxhqt987xxdckqx]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] 1D on your left. 1S from p and 3D from RHO. You bid 3H, LHO bids 5D and this is passed round to you...what do you do?
  18. ok...seems that noone else wants to post, turns out that declarer has BOTH 4 card majors KQ9x QTxx xx Axx Stupid game...I returned a spade obviously.
  19. you are playing 2nd/4th leads by the way if that influences you.
  20. [hv=d=w&v=b&e=sjthxdakqj9xckqjx&s=sa73hkxxxdxxxcxxx]266|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Ok, two passes to RHO who opens 1D, playing Basic Acol...LHO bids 2NT and RHO 4NT...LHO then bids 6NT. Partner leads the 6 of spades which goes jack, ace and 2....what do you return?
  21. I didn't think double was penalty at all, I just didn't think he would have such a shapely hand for his double.
  22. Fair enough. I passed, expecting partner to have 1 and maybe even two trumps, which was probably a bit optomistic of me. I thought he could have bid 3S over 2NT with a hugely offensive hand. My partner had [hv=d=w&v=n&s=shaktxdat9xcakqjx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] and I think we could make 6C, both minors broke 4-1, although the hearts were 3-3.
  23. [hv=d=e&v=n&s=s98xhqjxdj8xxcxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] There are three passes around to partner and he opens 1C. [You're playing 4 card majors by the way]. RHO bids 1S, you pass and LHO thinks for ages and bids 2NT, which is described as a good raise. Partner now doubles, and RHO bids 3S, which is passed round to partner, who doubles again. What's your action?
