  1. [hv=d=w&v=n&s=sxhqtxxdt9xcakjtx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] team game, LHO partner RHO me 1D 1H 2S 4H 4S P P ? 2s is preempty. 1) do you think of 5h instead of 4h at the first round ? 2) what do you do after opps 4s now ? thanks SHAN
  2. would someone think of the danger of opps' 4h contract ? i would pass and give up this hand, it's just a guess. shan
  3. appreciate for everyone's reply. and 3nt seems popular one here, and i am starting to like this bid now, :) to further discuss the 3nt bids, i need compare 3nt with X. X seems lead to 4h/5d contract, unless partner jump to 5C. well X would certainly bypass 3nt. however by bidding 3nt, it's very hard to explore 44 or 54 heart fit. does anyone have better idea, especially partner holding singleton/void spade. suit contract would be more attractive. this is the full hand, [hv=n=sqtha9xxxdqxxxcxx&w=sajxxxxxhxdxcjxxx&e=sxhqjxdxxxckqtxxx&s=skxxhktxxdakjxxca]399|300|[/hv] 4h works here, 3nt depending on leads. (it doesn't meean 3nt is bad contract). shan
  4. [hv=d=s&v=b&s=skxxhktxxdakjxxca]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] you opened 1d, LHO jump 3S weak, 1D (3S) P P; ?? what's your plan ? thanks SHAN
  5. Hi Jail, play S9/S8 is cetainly better than SJ, that i shall do next time. and It certainly requires partner's more effort to figure my hornor J. SHAN
  6. i play SJ, hoping partner has KTXX, then we can score 2c/2s/1D. and continuing club seems wrong, as partner doesn't seem have side entry to cash them. SHAN
  7. D9 is indeed intellegent defence, and really hard to find in the table. SHAN
  8. [hv=d=e&v=e&n=sjt62haj542dk85cj&w=s743h73daj763cak9&e=sakq985h86dqt42ct&s=shkqt9d9cq8765432]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] EW 4S has a little challenge due to diamond suit splits. N-S 5C sacrifice would get average score. however N-S 5H is cold, especially receiving club lead. only 1 of 8 table reached 5h. SHAN
  9. well done, roland and fluffy [hv=d=e&v=n&n=sq642hkq2d65ca652&w=sakjt8hj765d4cjt7&e=s75h9dkjt9832cq83&s=s93hat843daq7ck94]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] play diamond to force west ruff would secure the 4h contract, as long as west was holding 3/4 hearts. SHAN
  10. sorry, guys, the west actually play 2 rounds spade AK, then switched the D4. [hv=d=e&v=n&n=sq642hkq2d65ca652&s=s93hat843daq7ck94]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] E S W N 3D P P X P 4H ------ what's your reasonable plan ? it may not be too difficult, however easy to go wrong. SHAN
  11. honestly, i didn't expect 1H bid here, but who knows, it may work out well. luis's 5D is reasonable. the most troublesome is jump 3S, my partner believed this is preempty weak spade bids. if there were no interferece, jump 3s would be obvious Splinter. 2NT limit raise had flaw, since 3nt on wrong side if partner want to be in there. XX is most interesting one, and involved a lot of partnership discussion as well. SHAN
  12. [hv=d=e&v=e&s=shkqt9d9cq8765432]133|100|Scoring: IMP E S W N 1S ? this is one of the hand i "hated", because i have no idea of what to do, and i choosed Pass. well it doesn't work out so well. SHAN [/hv]
  13. [hv=d=w&v=b&s=s3hk94daj8652ckt5]133|100|Scoring: IMP W N E S P 1D X ? what to bid ? SHAN [/hv]
  14. this is one of interesting hand in pair IMPS game, hands are computer generated, very tricky hands. [hv=d=e&v=n&n=sq642hkq2d65ca652&s=s93hat843daq7ck94]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] E S W N 3D P P X P 4H ------ west leads SA, then swithc to D4, e-w plays std carding and leads. what's your reasonable plan ? it may not be too difficult, however easy to go wrong. SHAN
  15. 1), east 4s is overbid, 9 loser hand, 0hcp. unless east is looking for magic fit, AK in both majors. however west is in reopening position, he could have less value, and may not garantee 4card spade as well. 2), I would expect west's 3d as 5 card suit. does X of 2h showing heart length, at least 4 cards? most likely, so east can pull to 3h, with west hand, he can bid 2nt as take out at second round, imply heart suit. otherwise pass is normal bid, SHAN
  16. i should put 2/1 system in m post, we play 3c rebid as invitational, and 3nt is not defined in our cc. i don't like 3nt here, as 3nt does a preempty job on both opps and my partner. it probably works better in MP instead of IMP, or not ? i prefer 2d, lying the diamond length, however, it delivers the club length and strength, much better than 2nt, plus the bidding level is low. if partner raised diamond directly, i could always pull back to 3nt, showing stop. [hv=n=saqtxxxhadxxcxxxx&s=sxhkxxdajxcakqxxx]133|200|[/hv] -------- 1C 1S 2N 3D* 3N 4S we stopped in 4S. but i like the following sequence, (reasonable or not ?) ------- 1C 1S 2D 3C* 3D 3C here is game forcing, otherwise, 2nt relay showing weak. 3H 4C 4S 6C SHAN
  17. [hv=v=b&s=sxhkxxdajxcakqxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] you opened 1C, and partner response 1s, what's your plan now ? SHAN
  18. partner's 3h x is penalty, so i pass the x to confirm my 4card hearts. if opp pull to 4d, and partner didn't bid 4h, then i would bid 5c later on. SHAN
  19. [hv=n=skxxhdaxxcajtxxxx&s=saqjtxhkxxdjxxckq]133|200|[/hv] I didn't actually play this hand, and saw the bidding went as following (3H) 4C (4H) 4S all pass 7 was made as soon as the bidding finished. SHAN
  20. NORTH didn't bid direct 2nt/2h/2s, so north won't have 5 card major, and could be either hand as follow, 1) kind of balanced hand, 19+, 2) 4s, 6+ club suit, good hand. with 1), south should X to penalize opps; with 2), bid on is winning choice, hope north won't get too much excited. (both sides have 10 card fits). so 2) seems more like to me regarding to opps 4h active bids, i guess east holds singleton or void club. shan
  21. 6c and 6nt are quite practical bids here. however is there anyway to introduce the spade suit and forcing bids? 4s doesn't seem to be forcing bid by me. and thinking of 4nt rkc first, then looking for SK? such as 4nt - 5H; 5S to ask for spade K ? SHAN
  22. team game, IMPS, LHO Partner RHO me 3H 4C 4H ?? expecting Partner's 4C is sound, what method do you use in this auction while holding either weak or strong hand ? this is one of the hand in bbo, what's you decision here, [hv=v=n&s=saqjtxhkxxdjxxckq]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] thanks, SHAN
  23. i won't touch spade at all, and i like TIMG's original playing line, win HK, then DQ finesse. if DQ lost to RHO, rho can only return D/S, which i would win at dummy to continue setup hearts, eventually score, 2S, 4H, 2D, 1C. or if heart doesn't splits 43, i still have chance to play 4 diamond tricks. btw, duck CK at first tricks seems normal play to me, watch rho's discard could be helpful, i don't need third club to endplay LHO. SHAN
