  1. i have to admit this is B/I question. and personally believe this is clear cut double.
  2. [hv=d=e&v=n&s=sxhqjxdakjxxcajxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP east open 1S, what do you overcall ? [/hv]
  3. Oh, I thought 3H was gameforcing. That, obviously, is open for agreement. I prefer inv+, to be able to bid 3♠ only to compete. Both approaches have their up- and downside. good to know 3h inv+. which is the bid i am looking for. thanks for all the reply.
  4. [hv=d=n&v=n&s=sakj9xxhxxdqctxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP N - E - S - W 1C (2N) ?? opps overcall 2n to shows diamond and heart, and N/S vul. you are holding south hand, and what to bid ?[/hv]
  5. [hv=d=e&v=b&s=sxxxxhxxxdaqxxcxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP you are holding south hand, [/hv] N - E - S - W -- 1C P 1H P 2S P 3S P 4C P 4H P 6S // east is declear, and they reached 6s, you are holding south hand, what to lead ? thanks
  6. this is exact reason put me in 3nt bidder at table, and if i caught club support from partner, double swing would come. obvsiously this idea is not shared by the majority and none of my teammates, even though 3nt succeed. :) here's full hand [hv=d=w&v=e&n=stxxhxxdatxxca9xx&w=sajxxxhxxdkxxcq8x&e=sxxxhkqtxxxxdqjxc&s=skqhajd862ckjt742]399|300|Scoring: IMP W N E S P P 3H 3N [/hv] with best defense, 3nt could be set (heart lead, spade switch), but often not, and i made 3nt with heart continue. you can see 3h would be +1. shan
  7. [hv=d=w&v=e&s=skqhajd862ckjt742]133|100|Scoring: IMP W N E S P P 3H ? do you pass ? and why. [/hv]
  8. 3s works better on this hand. north: S: A x x H: K J T x x D: J x C: A J x sourth: S: K Q x x x x H: 9 x x D: K x x C: x 1H (3C) 3S here 3S would lead to better 4s contract instead of 4h. thanks shan
  9. [hv=d=n&v=e&s=skq9653h962dk87c3]133|100|Scoring: IMP N E S W 1H (3C) ? north opened 1h, east preempty 3C, what's your plan ? [/hv]
  10. here's full hand 6s make, diamond Kxx on side, [hv=d=w&v=n&n=saxxxhxdxxxxcqxxx&s=skqxxxhaxxdaqjtcx]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv]
  11. [hv=d=w&v=n&s=saxxxhxdxxxxcqxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP west opened 1H, W N E S (1H) x (3H) ? south bid or not ? [/hv]
  12. [hv=d=n&v=b&s=s972hdakjt74cak82]133|100|Scoring: IMP General 2/1 style, 15-17 nt range, better minor opening. 1C – 1D 1N – 2D* (gf) 2H – 3C 3N - ?? [/hv] we play 2 way checkback. opener rebid 1n = 12-14. 2d is checkback gameforcing. 2H is natural 4 card. you as south had pretty good hand, you want to try slam ? how if you do so.
  13. [hv=d=n&v=n&s=s842h6432dajt872c]133|100|Scoring: IMP 1N (3C) ??[/hv] North open 1N (15-17), east preempty 3C, what south do now ? thanks added: we play negative x at this auction.
  14. S: Q T 8 H: J 9 6 D: A 7 4 D: A K 7 2 S: A 7 4 3 2 H: 7 3 D: Q 9 2 C: 8 6 4 N E S W 1C (P) 1S (2H) X (P) 2S // west lead CJ, east play C3 (UDCA). how to play now. ?
  15. thanks for all the reply. i was playing the same way as bhall do, a lot of other people mentioned same way. the key point is doubler doesn't need jump, this way would save more room for advancer to show different hand. however my partner suggest the way helene_t mentioned. and mentioned that it would get benefit to find 4-4 at 2/3 level more easily. (of course when doubler jump at 3M, it may cause advancer issue) so i am wondering which way is better or practical. shan
  16. i like to know what people play when advancer cuebid when partner takeout. (1m) x (p) 2m when do you cuebid 2m, strong hand or could be lower range ? thank you shan
  17. partner is holding south hand, 3nt call is quite weird, (he is neither stupid, nor crazy, as 3nt turn out to be good contract. jxx is very bad for suit contract, he is indeed gambler.) i insist that x is quite clear cut, however he said otherwise, that's why i like to see other people rating score between pass and x. [hv=n=saqxxhjtxdqtxxcxx&s=sjxxhkqxxxdakcqxx]133|200|[/hv] w n e s 1s p p 2h p 3h p 3n p p 4c p p ?? when partner pass 4c, what do you bid with north hand, and rating would be much appreciated. shan
  18. [hv=d=w&v=n&s=sj32hkq873dakcq63]133|100|Scoring: IMP west open 1S, and south is holding this hand. [/hv] W N E S 1S P P 2H P 3H P 3N P P 4C ?? what do you think south should do now ? and provide scores if you like. thanks shan
  19. [hv=s=sq87h9djt763c5432]133|100|imps, NS VUL [/hv] left opp opened 1s (1s) x (2s) pass (p) 3c (p) ??
  20. this is quite a "simple hand" by first look. i didn't pay attention until one of friends surprised me. he is pointing out that, Finesse CQ at first trick is an illusion, it only gains one overtrick when KXX on side. no benefits when any 42 splits. how about duck first club then finesse CQ ? This line gains when KX, KXXX on side. but fail on KXX & KX off side. and it gives up diamond 33, so it's not much better.. here's 3rd choice. duck first club, then cash CA to setup club suit. (totally refuse FINESSE CQ). This line gains when KX by either defender hand. and when club is not 33. you still come back for diamond 3-3 chance. it's certainly better.
  21. >S: 843 >H: A4 >D: 543 >C: AQ764 > > >S: AKQJ7 >H: K7 >D: AK62 >C: 93 IMPS, 6s by south, west led DJ, what's your plan ?
  22. I will have to look for it, maybe i mis-remembered who played this korkish rebids method i quoted... I did find Fred's treatment for inverted minor raises which you might be interested in... http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?showtopic=2779&hl=# In the meanwhile, the method i am attributing to fred (hope i remembered it right), is from Eric Kokish and is frequently called kokish rebids, and can be found here.... http://www.gg.caltech.edu/~jeff/system/kokish.html or as discussed within in this very forum, Kokish rebids after 1D-2C You may also want to see [http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?showtopic=8269&view=findpost&p=69606]1D - 2C thread[/url] thanks ben, the link is very helpful. and actually my intension of 1d - 2c is not GF, due to 1D - 3C as 8-10 Diamond raise unbalance hand. so responder inv. hand has to go through 1d - 2c. and fred/kokish method doesn't seem to fit in my schema here. however i found "old Duboin-Bocchi scheme" from Poky, that could work out for me. 1D-2C: a) GF without 5M INV with 6C c) INV with 4+D d) BAL INV Development: 1D-2C 2D: 11-15, any 2-suiter or 3-suiter 2♥: one-suiter or 12-14 balanced 2♠: clubs, 16+ 2NT: hearts, 16+ 3♣: 5D4♠, 16+ 3D: 64♠, 15+ 3♥: 6D5♠, 14+ 3♠: 4450, 15-17 After the potentially weak rebids of 2D and 2♥: 1st step: GF relay 2NT: BAL INV 3C: 6C INV 3D: 4+D INV =========== with above method, somehow i can stay in 2D/2N/3C partscore contract. and 44 major fit after opener 2D/2H rebid would still need to be constructed. Barid Shan
  23. ben, do you have the link of what u mentioned above ? thanks,
  24. 1D - 2C; 2S does opener 2s rebid promise 4 card spade, or just shows spade stopper ? for example, opener holds S: KJT H: xxx D: ----- C: ----- 1D - 2C; ? does opener bid 2S, or something else, such as 2D, 2N..? btw, i didn't see BBO advanced system covering the 1D-2C topic yet. thanks, Barid,
