Thank you for the replies. I added partners hand in the diagram below It is clear for North to continue to six with the singleton Club?
-
I did bid 6♥ and we were missing ♦A and ♠A for -1. That was the main disadvantage of starting with 2NT iso 2♥, it didn't leave me romm to check for aces.
-
I have updated the diagram with a couple more bids: I have updated our bidding in the diagram above. I started with 2NT. And then transferred to ♥ (I don't know why i didn't transfer to ♠ first). The bidding would have been easier when I would have started with 2♥ iso 2NT. => In the diagram above: Pass 5♥ or bid 6?

Awkward Bidding Problem
kgr replied to eagles123's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
My initial idea was 2♥, but maybe DBL followed by 2♠ is better? What is the difference?: Both show invite+ values, but starting with DBL is more balanced and based on points? -
Natural and TO-dbls. With short ♥, opening values and a 4c♠: - East will first pass and DBL 2♥ - West will DBL 2♥

temas; IMPs [hv=pc=n&s=sqt642hkj642dq6c2&d=n&v=e&b=9&a=2d(multi)p]133|200[/hv] Partner opened 2♦, multi; including following possibilities: - 6cMajor, weak - 6cMajor, semi-forcing - GF with a minor - 22-23, NT - 24+, NT It was clear for me what to bid here. The 5c-Majors tend to indicate that partner has a strong hand for a change. Therefore it is maybe best to bid 2♥ and give partner room to describe his hand. But you never know that partner has a weak 6cMajor? Then we should maybe play in 4M? - 2♥; 2♠; 3♥; 3♠ : Pass or correct - 4♣: asks partner to bid his major in transfer - 4♦: asks partner to bid his major - 2NT: asking relay (with a strong hand partner will bid 3NT or higher).

Teams IMP's All non-vulnerable [hv=pc=n&s=sa2hak42dakq642c2]133|100[/hv] This hand didn't fit our system. The only options you have are: - 2♦ multi followed by 3♦ is GF in ♦. (After 3♦ partner can show a ♥-stop with 3♥, but it is not clear if 4♥ by you will show a 4c♥ now). - 1♦: natural (4c♦, 12-19) - 2NT= 20-21 NT - 2♦ multi followed by 2NT: 22-23 NT - 3♦ transfer preempt, followed by 4♣: GF 2-suiter; ♥+♦ (2♣ is mini precision: weak with ♣)

IMPs; teams [hv=pc=n&s=s2had642ckqt86542&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=1s(5%2BcS)p2c(Club%20or%203cS)p2h(4cH%2C%20any%20strength%2C%20forcing)p3c(GF%2C%206cC)p3d(4th%20suit)p4c(prob%20stronger%20then%205C)p4d(control)p4h(control)p4s(control)p5cppp]133|200[/hv] Do you agree with the bidding of this hand? : - 2♣: 2♣ followed by 3♣ is GF; A direct jump to 3♣ would be 6c♣ with invite values. 5♣ would be to play 3♦ of partner was 4th suit, asking more info. 4♣ denies a ♦-stop, and probably denies 2c♠, 3c♥; 5♣ instead of 4♣ would have been minimal values

Hearts were 2-2 with opps, i don't think they would manage to DBL us in 2H. This is an attempt to reconstruct the hand. I don't really know the distributions in the minors, because this wasn't really a hand where I paid a lot attention. This is what I know: - I know that I had ♠QTx ♥Qxxxxx - Partner started a small spade from a 3c and RHO had ♠J9xx and LHO had ♠AKx - small ♠ lead for ♠T, ♠J, ♠Q and ♠A - I think that declarer did go to dummy with Diamonds and I played high, this is Lavinthal signal. - Delclarer played ♣ to his ♣J and partners Q. => Should it be clear for partner to switch to Hearts...not sure?? [hv=pc=n&s=sqt4hq97542d842c5&w=sak6ha8dkj3ckjt93&n=s852hkt3dq97caq64&e=sj973hj6dat56c872&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=ppp1cp2dp3nppp]399|300[/hv] (This is not 100% correct because I think that 2D promises more then what I gave West

What is the minimum you need to open a weak 2 vulnerable in 3th hand? = = = = The hand that triggered the question: IMP's teams; You are vulnerable - opps green. Opps play strong 1 Club [hv=pc=n&s=sqt4hq97642d42c42&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=pp]133|200[/hv] P-(P)-P-(1C) P-(2D)-P-(3NT) AP (3NT made +1 because partner didn't find the ♥ lead or heart switch from ♥Kxx)

I expect: Me: 3=4=3=3; 12 HCP Opener: 5=6=1=1; 11 HCP Partner: 2=3=4=4; 12 HCP Responder: 3=v=5=5; 5 HCP I bid 2NT and let partner choose the minor, if I'm really confident about the above then bidding 3♣ is maybe better (gives opps less chance to double us).

Improving your bidding accuracy with IJOs
kgr replied to mgoetze's topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
Or matter of system: For my partner and me 2♦=4c♠ & longer ♦; and therefor 3♦=IJO because we don't have a natural 2♦. And the range for 3♦ is 10-15 for us, South is too strong for it. -
IMP's All Vulnerable [hv=pc=n&s=skj7654hkdjt8753c]133|100[/hv] 1st hand. Options: - 2♦: multi (weak 6cM or strong). Note: if you open 2D then it will not be possible to show you diamond length. - Pass first and bidding 2NT if opps bid H + C: That shows a good 5/5 => - My comment: 2D opening (could be wrong, but prefer to preempt immediately) - My partners comment: No 2D opening with 6/6; this hand has too much potential for weak 2 opening. What is your comment? EDIT: 2S opening would be Muiderberg: 5cS, 4+c-minor and weak.
-
Apologies if this is a stupid question: Is it standard/best to lead the 6 or the T from ♠AT96?
-
- IMPs or MPs? - E is dealer and not W? DBL or 3♠. ...I don't know what is best (maybe shouldn't answer then  ), but I would bid 3♠
-
1D opening: I prefer: 1D > 1S 2NT: I prefer: 2NT > 3C > 3NT 3S: I prefer: 3S > 3NT >> 3D > Pass 4S: I prefer: 4D > 3NT >> 5D >>>> 4S => IMO the bidding was fine until the 4S bid.
-
Playing IMPs, why not lead to 10♦? I thought RHO had ♦KJ and feared a ♣ return...Crossing in ♣ was probably worse.
-
About 1♣ opening: In my system I can open: 1) 1♣: 2+c♣; 12-19 2) 2♦ followed by 3♣: GF ♣ 3) 2♦ followed by 2NT: 21-22 balanced. I prefer: 3 > 2 > 1 I'm not sure how it will go if I open 1♣; maybe I'm influenced by seeing both hands: 1♣-(2♦)-Pas-(3♦) DBL-(Pas)-4♥-(Pas) 4NT-(Pas)-5♦-(Pas) 6♥-AP - 1♣: forced :) - Pas: not enough for 2♥, very minimum for 3♣ and don't like that with 5c♥ ...maybe DBL is also an option. - DBL: obvious - 4♥: Partner has some extras and 5c♥, ♣-support, and good hand for previous pass - 4NT: RKC (This has to be RKC) - 5♦: 3 or 0 - 6♥: partner needs to have something for the 4♥ bid.
-
Not so obvious. If LHO has ♠KQ then RHO has the other honors and only 8 tricks can be made if you duck the first trick.
-
I crossed to dummy with ♣K; finessed ♦Q and that did hold (LHO ducking ♦K); and cashed ♦A (playing RHO for ♦KJ). The result was -1.
-
Specifically ♠Q, just in case RHO has ♠T9 doubleton?
-
Thank you all. RHO had ♠Tx and all other honors in ♥♦♣. I played ♠9 and ended -1.
-
You didn't mention West's DBL. Do you consider it unimportant?
-
IMPs[hv=pc=n&s=sa62h743daj82ck98&n=sj98hkqtdkqt9cqjt&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=1n(9-11)p2h(transfer)p2sppdp3s(asking%20stop)dpp3nppp]266|200[/hv] You play 3NT after East opened 1NT (9-11 HCP) and West transferred to spades. West leads ♠4. Do you play small or high from dummy?
