  1. So with 9hcp and 5-4-1-3 you pass? 2NT? 2S?
  2. It's worth the entire point to me. My question might need rephrasing: Would you call it system standard,or would you most likely have to make an agreement that it is forcing?
  3. 1D-(p)-1S-(p)-2D-(p)-2H-(p)-? The way I bid,I would now show about 9-10ish hcp and 5S-4H. Our opps in a tourney landed in 2H on 3-3 here and they were not happy, one said roundforcing the other said not. I agreed with the one saying not,my pd agreed with the one saying roundforcing :D
  4. Agree,def1 If I didn't open 1S on this,it would be VERY hard work convincing my pd to keep on bidding over the 2-level. I know if I held def 2 hand across a passed hand,I would look to pass any acceptable bid he makes.
  5. Yes,that happened to me ONE time, hasn't happened since. It's most likely nothing to do with the netbridgevu.exe program. The operating system shuts down programs from time to time,if you get it frequently I would try reinstalling BBO.
  6. Nah,can't be......I never get these messages B)
  7. Not more foolish and ignorant than claiming only the opposite ;) I would say: If the opps score big on your psyche, you deserved it If your side score big on your psyche, you deserved it :) Bet you never thought I'd say that heheh
  8. I would be surprised if he had a weak hand in diamonds is what I replied to. I didn't say I would pull to 2D,didn't say anyone would pull to 2D,just asked if it couldn't be possible. You won't have to play with him,he was a fictive player.
  9. I might lose my right to arrange tourneys now, but if I was TD here on BBO and this occured, I would adjust to 3HN= 140 it's probably completely utterly wrong bridgewise and i'm sure if it is someone will tell me why I would also instruct S,W and N to just accept that we all misclick sometimes and not try to construct ways to help,and/or take advantage of such help. :D
  10. The Laws of Bridge DO give kibitzers the right to kibitz. My remark was aimed at tourneys disallowing kibitzers, that's why I put right in " " and followed with to be ABLE to kibitz. In tourneys, now with the rightclick option to Follow this player in tourney, how about the kibitzer doing so is only allowed to see one hand, the hand of the player he wants to kibitz? With no other way to enter a tourney as kib,but always allowing to kib ONE of the hands,I would be fine with that too :D
  11. Couldn't NT opener have a strong 5 card diamondsuit and maybe takeout the dbl because of one or two suits barely stoppable in NT?
  12. Yes Ron,sometimes, and as long as the opps have the same "information" and also can use logic,I agree with you. When one side is the winner based on pd of psycher using logic before the opps do(or can) then I certainly would feel bad,I just don't equal "get away with it" to fair play. But that's me,I know I'm very much outnumbered when it comes to the way you advanced players feel about the full package(saying I might be better off playing spades etc). When it comes to your example, sure, something fishy there.
  13. How about when your opps psyche and you feel "wow...this auction sure died fast and weird...."? With English not being my native language,I thought fielding was not ok? So passing 5D would be ok then,or passing 4H,or what?
  14. 1) And with a "ratingsystem" only masochists would host/TD tourneys unless they know "every law" and how to rule. Not to mention it is NOT as easy as some claim, coming to a table, trying to get someone to explain EXACTLY what happened and not have to ask 3 times getting "adjust brd 3,opp no alert" every time.....while 5 TD call boxes keep popping up faster than TD can click them away. How to pull off a good ruling without being sure of having all the facts,I wonder..... It's at best a 50/50 shot, depending on who sounds the most credible within 10-15 secs. 2) I have not seen anyone PRAISING a TD call here in the forums, what makes people here think a ratingsystem would be more fair? The pair feeling they got a reasonable or good ruling won't even think twice unless it's mandatory to "vote",the other pair might...... B)
  15. I for one don't have an issue with the psycher, but with what the partner does later in the auction. Fielding, isn't that the English word?
  16. I agree with you when it comes to pay-tourneys and other tourneys where TD seems to create a high level environment on rulings etc. I think it's a huge "market" for "Fun tournaments". How many free tournaments a day would we have if TD's had to undergo training, and accept to be judged mainly by those who feel they were treated unfair? Why can't each player control where he wants to play based on his/hers experience with a certain TD? What good can possibly come from creating hostility between players and TD's? We "all" know that bridgeplayers who claim to be right, are not an easy crowd.......and very difficult when they "have" to
  17. Very good suggestion I hope this is possible :)
  18. I tried it,and I like it,how it looks does not bother me at all,it serves a good purpose. I have a reasonably fast connection, and quite often I bid before the previous alert system kicked in when people with slower internet type the explanation. I don't see how the alert frequency come into play,it's just a white field that will help millions.....MILLIONS! :P Please do not take it away
  19. This is my concern about having mini-BBO's that all have everything, and limited access. There would always be mini-BBO's with few people somewhere down the line.
  20. My best guess is "we" are very happy on BBO and "afraid" a major change will be for the "worse" :P
  21. In some situations it's VERY clear, for example if you have to protect a Kx. In other situations it's not as clear obviously, but when responder is weak, it's imo better to let the stronger hand play (you get a better lead for example). In relay auctions for example, it's usually better to let the unknown hand declare, so opps don't know what you have and this makes their defense VERY hard. That's why many transfers are used. I agree completely that stronger hands should be declarer/hidden My take was on both hands being say,12-14 range, do you "feel" that you get an advantage getting the final contract on the other hand from most of the field when that is the case? I'm curious, not saying anyone is wrong,I just feel I get the contract on the best hand "usually" so maybe in most cases it doesn't really have alot to say which hand? Apparently you think the same, you usually have the contract on the best hand, being the other hand in some or most cases. :)
  22. Once upon a time, probably in 1979 I learned not to count the likes of Kx if my LHO had opened that suit. I would be much more comfortable bidding 2S or dbl with K109xx Ax AJx Qxx I also "know" that what I say here, doesn't always reflect on reality, meaning I'm not at all sure what I would do at the table. :) Frode [Edit: It was in 1977] hehe
  23. Won't your contract be "wronghanded" from everyone who bids natural? If both hands are about same strength give or take, which usually is the case after 1m-1M and you end up in say 4M? Who's to say which hand is right for declaring? I remember Roland saying in a vugraph "debate" where some commentators meant bidding game was almost clearcut or at least bidding to 3 level. Roland said switch defenders hands, and 3 is down, which leads me to the "definition" that there is no way of knowing which hand is correct to declare, any contract depends on defenders cards in principle? :)
  24. Dummy should never claim, sometimes (maybe always) it's easier to see how to play when dummy. In a BBO tourney my pd was in 6S: Kxxxx KQJ9x x AJ AQJ10 - AKxxxx xxx My LHO had bid H and C and the lead was a small H. It was imps and instantly I thought "pitch a club on lead, let them get for the H ace and claim asap" My pd ruffs, and proceeds down a line of play with ruffing hearts and diamonds finally going 2 down. What seemed obvious to me,did not seem obvious to my pd,even tho I think there is a very clear line to make this contract, some get lost.
