  1. I would fall off my chair if anyone at my club asked me for a CC to browse through before bidding :D Thats a pity, given that that the Convention Card is the standard mechanism to disclose methods in WBF events... Alert/Announcement structures are a "supplement" not a "replacement for" convention cards. My point wasn't that it's wrong to have a CC at the club, it was more a way to say where I play we're basically the same players every week,we're usually only 6 tables and I guess for most players 75% social/25% competitive feel about the game. :) I'm sorry if I don't consider a club night a WBF event.

  3. People who leave in middle of hand, and are still on BBO,yes, they need to be housebroken. :)
  4. I sure am not the first to say it, not will be the last, but the real main issue is that you and your partner play the same  Actually....you ARE the first heheh :)
  5. This was my point, the opps who did this, clearly was if not unknown, then didn't have enough playing together to iron out all aspects of a system. So even if a couple of people replying laugh at us for considering it nonforcing,it can also be a matter of agreement within a regular partnership. I agree with those saying with pickup partner it needs to be roundforce. Everything in bridge has its pros and cons, what matters is finding a way for MY partnership(s) that works ok. I think the main issue is frequency, how often would I like to bid a NF 2H,how often do I wish 2H was RF....
  6. Not sure if this helps, but you can click on the Options button on the bottom bar and use the slider top right corner to slow down cardspeed. Problem for me is cards either go too fast or too slow,no inbetween.
  7. This has happened to me,and it goes way back since the 3.x.x. versions, but to me it happens only when I sit in the lobby. If it doesn't work in the lobby I click the Play Bridge button, and then I can click names in the chat pane. It also only seem to happen when it isn't me initiating the chat. I am wondering if it could be related to me having "Ignore chat from lobby" enabled. It only happens occasionally, and never really bothered me I guess... :)
  8. Voted leave it blank,I honestly don't see the point apart from starting threads about it :)
  9. I think it's best left the way it is Fred. Better to let 10 guilty go free than to punish one with a poor connection,is my take on it. And if someone doesn't want to be at my table I don't want them there either. Doesn't mark them as enemies or write a note on them work? I ask because I've never marked anyone black
  10. what if YOU'RE copyrighted? or dislike creme brulee? :D
  11. As for the scoring,I always reset the score when a new player joins,it seems the right thing to do. As for people leaving all the time, that is a huge issue. When opps are randomly selected,it seems impossible to get past 1 board without having to get a new opp or both. 3-4-5 new people before things settle,is about the going rate, and it is annoying. I don't have a solution,I'm just working my way past creme brulee :)
  12. Creme brulee is a custard with the top carmelized with a torch. I made my own version for my girlfriend on valentines day. Picture this: a layer of chocolate gran marne ganoush, a layer of chocolate custard, and a layer of carmelized vanilla custard. Should this be ranked lower than some flat noodles? As to my rating: What am I, chopped liver? Bestguru Creme Brulee huh? :D
  13. probably refers to your laidback bridgestyle.... "Now HE'S a chilly crab....."? :D
  14. I enjoyed making redoubled games, not so much making sleazy slams. Creme brulee?????? No thank you, sounds like eating something meant for hairstyling. I remember those red bryl creme tubes, and the powerful smell..... What do I have to strive for now....mee pook?
  15. Back in 77-78 when I learned bridge,we learned Goren, I then played precision for several years when I had a regular partner and we played in tournaments here,in the early 80's. I recall having a book on Acol, but never liked those strong 2 openings, never seemed to get them B)
  16. Opener can have 4 hearts, how do you find heartfit if responders 2h in this scenario doesn't necessarily show hearts? And is 1D-1S-1NT-2H any different? Still not necessarily have hearts, roundforce?
  17. I play 4 card openings,and 5 card S,so unless 4S-3-3-3 I open 1C with 4,does that have a bearing on the case? I mean,since 1c-1s-2c-2h can be nonforcing,why not 1d-1s-2d-2h? To my recollection,I've "never" been sitting playing on the 2 level with obvious gamestrong cards,so I must be doing SOMETHING right.......right? B)
  18. I consider this to be so fundamental to standard bidding that I'm surprised it even came up for discussion. But then, I once had a pickup partner pass after this uncontested auction: 1♥-2♥-2♠ so go figure. I know it's not the same thing, but it shows no matter how many millions of people there are who would consider this a forcing bid, you can always find one exception lol. I'm not surprised by anything anymore, since I've been visiting myhands traveller from tournaments I've played in....... On almost every board played by say 40 tables, there are at least 20 different contracts, usually stretching from about 1000 to -1000 or so. B)
  19. Would it be fair to say 4th suit is gameforce,3rd suit is roundforce? Or is that wrong, based on what you guys say?
  20. The hands were irrelevant to my question, that's why I didn't include them initially, obviously this pair were not too familiar with eachother B) Well the dialogue after bidding was intelligent enough.... Why 2H?? Why pass?? lol
  21. So you would bid 1NT with 5 card diamonds. If so we agree,in which case I also would pass 2D.
  22. Yes he was unpassed Actually he held Kxxxxx KQx AQx x Opener had AQ Axx KJ10xx xxx B)
