  1. I was East here. Anyone for a 1S overcall? I would have bid 2S without the 2H rebid tho. Is that "wrong"? Hi, - a 1S overcall is ugly, but you hold the spades. - a 2S overcall is fine, it is even necesarry, if you dont overcall 1S in the first place, partner will expect this suit quality, because you did not overcall 1S Marlowe thx, that was my reasoning at the table too

  3. If a table in MBC is not open to chat from kibitzers, the message to table goes to ->kibitzers Same in tourneys,I've seen people send greet messages to a player at a table in tourneys and it is indeed sent to kibitzers instead?
  4. And what would a psyche be without the gloating and the bragging afterwards. Always one in the crowd....... For what it's worth I think your opening post was fine, some of the later "comments" seemed to be ridiculing the opps..... If not, then I'm sorry I assumed. Not sure what always one in the crowd is supposed to say about my comment? :P

  6. Very good post,you sure you're a creme brulee? :P
  7. Heavy metal,powermetal,progrock,rock for me :)
  8. Online, noone has ever asked me or my partners who holds a king, noone has ever asked if they can claim, they just play or claim, and in my opinion that is the spirit of the game. I have my doubts if asking me if I have this king or that king will speed up the game.... I would be reluctant to answer, and definitely dislike the question
  9. I don't understand why people are concerned. If Fred's objective was to eliminate players who behave themselves we should be worried yes. I have faith that they will protect BBO from lack of players, and only deal with the worst. Why not just go about our normal business on BBO and see if that is good enough to stay? Frode
  10. You were robbed I hope you didn't have to pay for it :P
  11. Am I the only one who don't like the jump to 4NT without having tried to find a fit? :) If it's quantitative I would pass
  12. I believe only a few people can be logged on with more than 1 account. Doubt your everyday TD can do this, would be a cheaters eldorado if "anyone" can log on with different account at the same time.... You're definitely wrong :) I have two computers at home, both connected to the internet via a smart linux-based box that does DHCP server and firewall etc over my DSL connection. There is absolutely no problem in connecting to BBO on separate accounts over one connection. I meant two accounts/1 computer, not that it matters to the outcome :) My point being I think i.e. Roland can log on with his "brothers" having multiple BBO's running for vugraph purposes? :) That's what I meant by only a few people can do this.... Not sure though
  13. With 3 Gibs....practicing declarer/defense play? With 2 Gibs....practicing partnership stuff? With 1 Gib.....no idea

  15. That's the guy I learned precision from :) It was called Advanced Precision, and I think his name is spelled Jannersten. This was around 1980 tho, played it a few years when me and my pd had time to put an effort into bridge and it was alot of fun :)
  16. Why do you think some of us have lobby chat turned off constantly? I turned mine off 2 years ago, and I haven't missed it since. Pollution is a nice word for what I saw when I decided to tick the box. Roland So is mine :) But I like torturing myself once in awhile
  17. Another thing is flooding the Lobbychat with announcements every 2-3 minutes, seen at least 2 Skyclub TD/hosts do this. First a simple "." then the announcement "starts in 10 mins,8 mins,6 mins,4 mins 2 mins....4 mins....2 mins....5 mins.....3 mins....5 mins" It is virtually impossible to have lobbychat on when 2-3-4 paytourneys are within 15 minutes to begin.
  18. I'm probably missing something here....as usual :) Was this a selfalert? You forgot it shows majors when you bid but remember to explain it as majors? ;) If there was no selfalert/explanation forget I asked :)
  19. When playing teammatches with weak teammates it will ruin the statistics  I was thinking tournaments, not team matches... I guess any ratingsystem is flawed....but it will be quite an effort to "cheat" if say 500 last boards count... It won't have a huge impact in either direction if you have a great or a bad tournament...... Having said that,I think self rating is best for the community.
  20. I can't speak for "such players" but I actually used "Private" for a long time because I found it difficult to assess my skill level. I kinda liked the idea about an average imp score last 100 or 500 boards or whatever, from any imp tournament to show on the profile. Or something similar.... <_<
  21. It really doesn't matter to me if anyone, friend or foe, wants to waste time looking at boards I've played and with whom <_< Since we play in a public place all we need is a protected login, and we have that.
  22. This I know.... but is it alertable IF by partnership agreement you open 1NT on 15/17 ANY shape only count? Not debating how smart or daft it is,just if it's alertable? :) thx in advance
  23. I think you've hit the nail on the head here, and yes it goes both ways.....playing "natural" doesn't mean the same everywhere so "we" are just as "bad" if we don't explain partnership agreements properly. But when it comes to highly unusual methods it's like what's the point if I have to tell you what it means? That is how it feels when given a bad or insufficient explanation anyway, intended or not. Even when it goes both ways,it kinda "feels" worse when it's something unusual :)
  24. Why shouldn't this be a problem? It is a problem already. But is it really lack of time which is the problem? Certainly, there are problems with poor disclosure, problems with pairs changing their methods, etc., which should be dealt with much better, but that is all a slightly different issue. Given two months (as Roland suggested earlier), wouldn't that be long enough to prepare for everything? One thing is to study and come up with various defenses on paper....... I would think 2 months is enough for that, but I imagine they would need substantial time testing those various defenses at a table? They would need a pair that use these highly unusual methods to train against? Or?
  25. No problemo :D I should have mentioned I also do some competitive bidding every now and then :)
