1. Not in the forums. A standard font is used, though specifically the diamond symbol has been a bit of a headache. They are Unicode symbols, no Symbol font. Jarosz, what browser (with version) and operating system (with version) do you use?
2. If such sharing is done somehow, I would make it weighted, you would need a fair number of individual bans (30%? 50%?) to make it global. And then, each tourney should have an exception list (friend of TD is banned, TD wants to share but want his friend play his tourney.
3. What do you use the 2M opening for? if use Multi, they could be Acol like
4. It is an automation of what's currently available, I believe. If I understood it correctly, you get the same thing by clicking on DF button after each card is played.
5. The .LIN viewer can understand .PBN files, maybe you can convert to .PBN as an intermediate step. I know, very tedious for lots of hands.
6. Ben, Richard's proposal success depends on a high grade of participation, of both directors and players. It seems to me it would need a good way of combating flamefests, though.
7. Yes, the FONT tag needs to be closed. Test Test Test Test
8. Free: Use the black suits, they have the same color as normal text, so they follow the "go the same color as background". Normal symbols are colored. ========== ========== Made with: (SP)(_SP)(HE)(_HE)(DI)(R_DI)(_DI)(CL)(_CL), replacing parentheses with square brackets.
9. What about a swiss with first two rounds with fixed pairings (like in clocked), and pairings from round 3 on based on results from next-to-last round? I saw a few of them around here, that would allow a delay on finishing, like mink before and Dwimgo now suggests, without having the pairings affected.
10. I actually held that hand. I did bid 2♣, partner bid 2♥, doubled 2♠ by RHO, and sold out to 3♦ by LHO.
11. I think the last segment of the semifinal was not in vugraph :), I don't know why
12. It depends, if you became defender, that was the right thing to do, if you became declarer or dummy you were required to do so after bidding was over but before the opening lead.
13. Thanks friends! It was a nice day (usually cold and rainy around here, today around 15ºC), passed with family and friends. Also thanks to the people who left me private messages, who saluted me on BBO and who left me BBO messages, sorry if I didn't answer, consider this one.
14. You're right, I made the wrong question, but it is a equivalent one.
15. 4♠+3 seems fine, no ♥ loser anyway on other leads? Plus some PP if available (not).
16. If this bid is systemic you have to alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Al Of course! I adjusted 3♥ to 4♥ once, after 1♣ : 1♦ : 1♥, then opps intervened and stopped in 3♥. Bids were Polish, 1♥ there is 3+, none of them alerted, opener had exactly 3♥. (opps had a 9-card fit, I think). Should be somewhere on these forums. But this one is NOT the case, 1♥ was 4+, so bid was fine, and EW had no grounds to complain.
17. In the Euro Bulletins an asterisk is used for alerts, but I saw "!" in lots of places.
18. Flame: In a word, DON'T. If you don't like psyches, go lobby to get them banned in the Laws (don't wish you good luck in that) or maybe CoC, easier. Till then, they are fair game. Psyching is taking a unusual decision, but one which psycher think it will get a better result for his/her side. It may be right, or wrong. OTOH, bidding 7NT is just giving the hand away. Please, DON'T DO THAT. Thank you.
19. You can play 4 seats, and review bid and play that way. You may load the board for play, let people play it then reload it and tell each player what was played, so they repeat, then comment on the vugraph play.
20. It certainly helps, but should not be necessary. Check Cascade's story about the person who directed at national level (more than one time) before even playing a hand. If you know the Laws, you can always rely on others for judgement (and you should, if possible, whatever your level, when the case is not clear cut).
21. Bearmum: At least for now, directors can run a tourney under whatever rules they want. ACBL is no different from other NBOs here, all are allowed. So far, only the ACBL and the FIGB (Italian NBO) did so.
22. I like Lawrence's way, 2NT after 2/1 is 12-14 OR 18-19, balanced. Can't be passed, because it is already GF, and you rebid 4NT over 3NT, quantitative, to show 18-19, which should be safe when partner has enough to force to game in the first place. UPDATE: I evidently didn't read the previous post :D
23. I like Cherdano's idea, of havink a "link" between commentators and audience. Yellows can currently do this, but it would be a valuable position on itself, if taken by right person. But think it would be better if said link could adress all commentators privately, and denied talking to audience. Maybe a commentator can take the role, but better to keep the abilities separate. (I know, directed to audience a few comments before, by mistake. Will happen again, I'm sure). So the less people with that ability, the better. Can even introduce new things, which commentators didn't see yet, from him/herself, or from the audience. (happened before, will happen again, albeit rarely)
