1. Please, someone translate this message :D I installed a (mostly) complete translation of the system messages of the forum software to italian. To use them, click on "My Controls" then "Skin and Languages", and choose Italiano. I'm using it right now, appears to work OK. Please try it and report success/problems/wishes, etc.
2. You can choose "South as South" in the options, then you would move from South position to the real one. Failing that (being comfortable in the South point of view) you can always see the movie, it shows where you sit.
3. Revamped how the symbols works, they are atomic symbols now. They are currently defined as same font, 120% of the size of the precedent text. That's of course modificable, but not so easy to show alternatives now. 1♣ 2♦ 3♥ 4♠ They work inside CODE too. Also, future modifications will affect symbols used from now on.
4. You can adjust after seeing the hand in myhands, as long tourney is still listed.
5. trpltrbl, I don't see those :) (browser thing I think.). But the idea of using text for those is to scale with surrounding text. If you change the font size, you are stuck with same size symbols (unless you insert another image) 2ª 2© 2¨ 2§ 2♠ 2♥ 2♦ 2♣ 2ª 2© 2¨ 2§ 2♠ 2♥ 2♦ 2♣ 2ª 2© 2¨ 2§ 2♠ 2♥ 2♦ 2♣ 2ª 2© 2¨ 2§ 2♠ 2♥ 2♦ 2♣ This is a hand crafted example, in second line symbols are 1.2 (which is the current standard step if I read specs correctly) greater than in the first. In third line, they are 1.4 greater than in first. In fourth, 1.7 greater than first. What do you think? It seems Symbol is smaller than the standard font at same defined size.
6. It was said filled symbols differ slightly in size (diamond apart) I think outlined appears better in that respects, but it is not the same. The Symbol Font set shows like this: ª © ¨ §. All this depends on the browser you use, so report it too if possible. All sets but the Symbol one use the Unicode (extended set of characters)
7. Ben, you beat me to the idea of this poll, so I added more options on the Green line. Also took the liberty to modify your post which show the options. Agree with Free, Lime is too light. I'm inclined for middle or middle dark
8. In some of the previous posts, provided ♣ was changed to ♣Now I changed the provided definition to be ♣which is lighter than the previous definition. Black: ♣ Green: ♣ Lime: ♣
9. Hmmm... shouldn't happen. What about Click on your own name ("Logged is as:"), then on "Modify my profile"? That's equivalent from "My Controls".
10. Yes, you need to upload the modified list. You need to save the modified list with old name (or new one), then modify the tourney to recognize the modification.
11. Would be good, but a (n already planned) way to modify the Conditions of Contest can do it Use RemoteKeys, does everything you want, and more. Maybe you can then share the macros you create with fellow TDs. Also a good tool to create alert macros of your own bids. See 2. Agree YES!!! Please! :D Would be handy, but it is still duty of players to call dir on time issues Shouldn't be necessary for players to remember in what table they played. Maybe put table in the movie, or allow dirs to get the movie of a player. Something along these lines would be done eventually. DISCLAIMER: I'm not a programmer (here), so can't be 100% sure. Use

Item 1
Item 2 etc
for a numbered list. Also a,A,i and I work instead of 1
12. Found the diamond thing is browser dependent: ♣♦♥♠ ♧◊♡♤ ♣♦♥♠ ♧◇♡♤ Arial ♣♦♥♠ ♧◊♡♤ ♣♦♥♠ ♧◇♡♤ Times ♣♦♥♠ ♧◊♡♤ ♣♦♥♠ ♧◇♡♤ Courier ♣♦♥♠ ♧◊♡♤ ♣♦♥♠ ♧◇♡♤ Impact ♣♦♥♠ ♧◊♡♤ ♣♦♥♠ ♧◇♡♤ Geneva ♣♦♥♠ ♧◊♡♤ ♣♦♥♠ ♧◇♡♤ Lucida ♣♦♥♠ ♧◊♡♤ ♣♦♥♠ ♧◇♡♤ Optima ♣♦♥♠ ♧◊♡♤ ♣♦♥♠ ♧◇♡♤ Verdana IE has problems with the Diamond Suit Symbol (it doesn't show well in the first two sets), while Mozilla shows the Diamond Symbol too big. For now, I left the Diamond Symbol, so it will show better in IE. Should I add buttons for the outlined symbols? The ONEHAND issue was fixed, but not all options work. I found FONT does work in IE, but not color (works above the hand, not after, not inside). Size doesn't work, change spacing but not actual size. Surely related to the fact ONEHAND defines a table, and some attributes has to be defined inside it to work.
13. Yes, it will show as [TAG=param1,param2,param3]param4[/TAG] when you click on it. Won't be shown that way in preview, nor in final version. EDIT: Corrected the glitch which didn't show the labels in popup input fields
14. Can't tell about the BBO thing, but the Forum posting thing should be OK now. Sorry for the inconvenience.
15. Maybe director should have the ability to add and remove individuals/pairs, BUT registering should be players' duty, not director's. They have to learn only once.
16. I added a new line in the Tags section of the Posting pages, it has the Four Suits and a button for entering one hand (only 4 parameters, sorry). This is shown as a table, as we can define direct html inside these tags. Please try them and comment. 1♣2♦3♥4♠ Onehand, for now, doesn't allow modifications like this (HTML is not my strong suit). ♠ AKQ ♥ AKQJ ♦ AKQ ♣ AKQ Trpltrbl, please use them. Don't know what you use for the suits, but I can't see it.
17. Not sure at all about TD inability to assign Ave- to both parties in f2f, in fact only thing necessary is that the board can't be played and that both parties be at fault (I know, not easy. But not impossible.) Procedural (independent) penalties has other applications, too, from (repeated) misalerting (Polish 1§ explained as "12+" anyone?)*, rudeness, slow play, the occasional wacko who opens 7NT, etc, etc, etc. Sadly, I think that's the only way for some people to get it, maybe they can learn that way. BTW, I read in EBU White Book preferred syntax of average is A4060 and A6040, which accomodates the procedural penalties (A6030 would include a standard penalty, 10% of a top in MP). See EBU White Book 2004. But still another way for input penalties would be needed, to assign them in individual tourneys, to player at fault, but not to occasional partner * In this case, I think amend their CC for the rest of tourney would be even better, so they have to open any 12+ 1§ for the rest of the tourney. I know, mean. But deserved, IMO
18. Why is 1NT still forcing after unloaded?
19. Using an add-on which allows admins to create custom BBcodes, I created ♠, ♥, ♦, ♣, and [ONEHAND]. ♠, ♥, ♦ and ♣ put code which shows as the suit symbol once posted. [ONEHAND] allows you to input one hand, suit by suit, in the same way you put a URL in a post. No consistency checks are done. It is then translated to HTML code, so you can do the layout right. This add-on allows up to 4 parameters in its current form, so for things which needs more data, like [TWOHANDS], [leftDUMMY], [rightDUMMY], [FULLHAND], [bIDDING] and [PLAY], it has to be modified. Working on it. Hopefully we'll be able to use that add-on here soon.
20. BBO Client 3.5.4 Be sure both your partner and you get the new client, and I think it would be a good idea to get a third person (with the new client too) to do the opps' bidding.
21. That's the forum, but see bridgetalk -> dummy talks after inane concession (USA), the 4th post
22. I installed my own version of the forums to study how it works. Put clock in 24 hour format, my favorite, but it is a global setting in this sofware, at least in current version About suit creation, there is a badwords list, which can be used for this. Problem is, it has to be parsed again, and currently, it isn't. Working on it. Templates: no time to look at them yet. Strangely, I see the spaces I type in the published posts in my version. Not here.
23. About hand formatting: There is a way. This forums has a template facility which can be (and is, in another site), used for that purpose. I never saw the final result, as it doesn't work on Mozilla, but we could implement a similar thing. It could be very nice if you can feed such template with a LIN file, for example.
24. Agree. However, I just opened the FONT tag, and modified the font. I'd prefer a global text replacement, if that is possible, like :he: replaced by "©" that way, you can treat them just as text 1© 2© 3© 4©
