2 Club Ace showing response
Gerardo replied to sceptic's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
What I know of this, 3♥ shows 2 Aces same color, 3♠ shows 2 Aces same range (both minor or both major), 3NT 2 Aces different color and range, so ♣♥ or ♦♠. Subsequent 4NT asks for Kings. -
Running is now there, for started (according to schedule) sessions, still for 1:30
-
3 hours seems a bit too much to me? But really depends on session length. Also, a "Running" mark would mean "Should be running according to schedule" instead of "Really running"
-
There is an option to set your current time zone in your forum profile, with that set up correctly, the time of the posts is shown in your local time, but that wouldn't change posts content, which seems to me is what you want (like maintenance lobby news page does). What do you have in mind?

Should it be Alerted?
Gerardo replied to awm's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Yes, better to think in terms of having screens when looking for Alert procedures. -
See the cards, they are marked red (can't make from declarer/dummy's POV, can't make from defense POV) or green (makes or set, depending on POV). The version included in BBO client is limited, see Deep Finesse for the full version.

No, Cedega forked from Wine, then Wine fixed it (try it, that bug is not there, but you can't talk with others), but not Cedega. atl.dll: tell Cedega to emulate Win2000+
-
Not sure they know, it is an old bug, Wine used to have it but they fixed it. About atl.dll, not sure if it comes with Windows, but other products (Visual Studio?). Even with atl.dll, will keep complaining, unless you install IE (on Cedega), or the ActiveX control for Mozilla.

I'd do this, but just 10 mins, maybe 15, but not more. Every time, of course. That's annoying enough IMO, if you are in the middle of you session, makes jumping pointless, and allows emergency jumps. I'd also abolish the 15-min previous to tourney ban to sit in main. If you are sit (or banned for jumping) at tourney start, you miss the tourney. (for pay tourneys, you are still in if you're banned for jumping, but not if still sit).

1) yes, it starts 2) Grab Symbol.ttf from somewhere 3) It does for me 4) yes, it does :-(

Cross IMPs (comparison against every pair) is actually used right now, instead of Butler (comparison against an average)
-
Added your symbol, with a link to the meaning of every symbol. mr1303: Probably you were invited.

which call is the most logic?
Gerardo replied to debussyl's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Double, bid your second suit (std meaning when DONT overcall is overcalled/doubled) -
BBO Points Comments, suggestions, bug reports welcome. NOTE: Times shown in these pages are server time, not viewer's.

Added Average interpretation.

hotshot: Thanks! scoob: Well, you would see it when editing a post.

that implies [auction=-,-,1H,1S,X,-,2C,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,][/auction] yuck!
-
I did. Problem is, in those codes definitions the number of parameters is fixed, so you would need several codes for different bid auctions. OTOH, probably it can be done passing only one parameter, and parsing it, will think about it, no promises (for now).

You have been selected for the Grand Jury!
Gerardo replied to whereagles's topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
Didn't open 1♠ to avoid rebidding 2 ♠ over a possible 2♥, and then bids 1♠ and rebids 2♠ B) Guilty! -
OK, my mistake. Assumed South's mischief all along. However, in these cases, better to put "no alert", harder to misunderstand. I believe TDs are the only ones who should have access to UNDO in tourneys. If called in proper time, would instruct the auction to end in some number of ♥s, and instruct people to play and defend 3♥, and adjust afterwards, faster than several UNDOs I think

LAW 73 - COMMUNICATION D. Variations in Tempo or Manner 2. Intentional Variations A player may not attempt to mislead an opponent by means of remark or gesture, through the haste or hesitancy of a call or play (as in hesitating before playing a singleton), or by the manner in which the call or play is made. E. Deception A player may appropriately attempt to deceive an opponent through a call or play (so long as the deception is not protected by concealed partnership understanding or experience). It is entirely appropriate to avoid giving information to the opponents by making all calls and plays in unvarying tempo and manner. F. Violation of Proprieties When a violation of the Proprieties described in this law results in damage to an innocent opponent, 2. Player Injured by Illegal Deception if the Director determines that an innocent player has drawn a false inference from a remark, manner, tempo, or the like, of an opponent who has no demonstrable bridge reason for the action, and who could have known, at the time of the action, that the action could work to his benefit, the Director shall award an adjusted score (see Law 12C). Seems to me Law 73F2 gives ground for an adjusted score, but I'm no TD. South still gets his/her PP
-
If results can be adjusted following the Laws, 3♥ for both plus a (not light) PP for NS. If results can't be adjusted, NS would be fined with 100% of a top. We have no PPs. Long ban from tourneys for South.

Spot the mistake(s) by declarer/defender
Gerardo replied to Trumpace's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Must unblock the ♠s ASAP. Then I think comes either red Ace, exiting in the same suit. If we hit LHO's King, he must give us an entry to dummy now. If not, we must duck RHO's return in the other red suit (only one which doesn't give away the contract), and hope [unless we play for LHO singleton K] -
Helene: there are lots of "no psyches" and/or "no adjustments" tourneys. Those don't follow the Laws. Roland: Don't be so fast on assuring competence. Open Pairs, Zonal tourney (South America), semifinals, national #1 (not my country, so don't know for sure) TD I understand (was #3 at that tourney, behind Kojak and SA Head TD). Opp lays down cards, claim all, no explanation, I had trump Ace in hand, then opp picked up the cards. He came, made us play it from that point, gave them all but one (there was timing issues, we could have another trick). Sadly, I was too green by then, and didn't pursue the issue further.
