  1. Found this out there: Download the Mozilla ActiveX Control Extract it to some directory which is accessible by Wine, e.g. ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/mozcontrol Now open a shell (if you didn't do that before) cd to that directory, and run regsvr32 mozctlx.dll. Tried it on Wine-0.9, it works (can see news, etc) (using the Windows executable, Wine executable has this disabled).
  2. 4.5.0 fixes it. Also next published version will.
  3. Yes, and pairing constrains in chess are more strict. Would be strange to have the first playing a bottom team in a Swiss, though  Now, is USA1-Italy in last round a constant?
  4. I think that applies only to free tourneys, and you can play a pay T even when banned, if you pay the fee.
  5. sorry for not writing in Italian :-( Didn't discuss this with Roland, but on the big number of kibitzers of each vugraph (and the worldwide interest on it), it is possible that a bigger number of people doesn't understand the commentators if they talk in english than if they talk in italian. Agree, multiple channels seems the way to go.
  6. 20 tables limit when Vugraph is on is now in place.
  7. As I understand it, part of the fee in ACBL tourneys go to the ACBL. Don't think they would recognize the points from BBO otherwise.
  8. Install 450beta , then install the contents of this in the proper directory, and use them to start BBO. Works under Wine, better than Cedega (toolbar at bottom, more pleasant fonts IMO, etc) Enjoy!
  9. Thank you very much Jilly, indeed a big loss
  10. Uday did some *preliminary* work on the network code, so BBO can run under Wine. It works!!!!!!! It is not yet release quality code, but stay tuned for next releases. Symbol.ttf stil needed, embedded browser doesn't work (news page, and some other things) under 20050930 (what I tested). Thanks Uday! Gerardo
  11. That error is an indication of an unclean exit. Please be sure you exit using the "Back" button. If persists, buzz.
  12. That's the right way, and should trump the player's choice during the tourney.
  13. Unusual. I for one like it. When I ran tourneys, I used to require partner's permission before subbing.
  14. Online Laws Laws of Online Bridge (changes only, marked vs. relevant subsections of Laws of Duplicate Contract Bridge – 1997 Edition) [snip] LAW 40 - PARTNERSHIP UNDERSTANDINGS E.Convention Card 2.Referring to Opponents’ Convention Card During the auction and play, any player except dummy may refer to his opponents’ convention card at his own turn to call or play, but not to his own. If permitted by the sponsoring organisation, in special events such as individual tournaments or tournaments using specified systems, a player may refer to his own convention card. * * Except as permitted in L40E2-Online, a player is not entitled, during the auction and play periods, to any aids to his memory, calculation or technique. However, sponsoring organisations may designate unusual methods and allow written defenses against opponents' unusual methods to be referred to at the table. [snip]
  15. Certainly either f2f or online, a claim must follow IMMEDIATELY after the answer to "Which defender hold this card?"
  16. Don't worry, as the users of this forum are not clients of Invision.
  17. This is NOT authoritative. I think you must be able to get your seat back for it to NOT be counted as a bailing. If players wait for you, you have some time. If players don't wait for you, that will be probably a bail, even if you go back to the table.
  18. Assuming this is a Polish Club variant: 4+♥ most probably comes from the 1♥ bid, it was explained after 1♥. 12+ as explanation to 1♣ is not adequate at all, unless you open all 12+ hands 1♣.
  19. Yes, "sub request" should be a category there, also "Tourney announcement", and "player request" (for MBC, WP, etc)
  20. You can use the code buttons. You can also input the BBCodes by hand. The BBCodes are: [ SP ][ HE ][ DI ][ CL ] for the 4-colored set, [ _SP ][ _HE ][ _DI ][ _CL ] for the black set, which should be used in hidden text, and [ R_DI ] for the red diamond, so [ _SP ][ HE ][ R_DI ][ _CL ] is the 2-colored set. There must be NO space between brackets and content of BBCode, used here to avoid inconvenient translation. For putting in a document, they are Unicode characters, so you need to use a font with (decent) Unicode support for faithful translation when copying from here.
  21. GIB button when you are kibitzing starts it with the current bidding/play position, GIB answers what he would do there. When it is not available, it is greyed out. pls describe your PC (CPU/memory/etc), what Windows do you have? Does GIB work when you are playing? does this happen every time (can you try again when NOT doing other things)?
  22. Yes, it is counted. But a few "end of session" hands should not be enough to warrant a ban, I think.
