  1. The fact that it was an ACBL-wide game might had made the directorreluctant to replace the board for all.
  2. What kind of hands can you have here, both in terms of strength and distribution? By passed hand? By unpassed hand (in this case, 1NT would be 15-17)?
  3. Frances, you just described xyNT (after 1x : 1y : 1NT, 2♣ forces 2♦ to play or invite, 2♦ is GF. XYZ uses 2m the same way after any 1x : 1y : 1z)
  4. Finally remembered to ask sister how she liked it (some years in national (amateur) league, frequent choice at throwing 7m): She stood side facing the goalie, then turned to face her as part of the throwing movement, took glane of where the goalie was If near the goal line, she liked high, left corner (goalie's right). If the goalie took an advanced position, either soft lob or low, to bounce past the line of goalie's feet.
  5. I am playing ♣6, not J (rule of 12, enough entries). What happens then?
  6. the second part of it sounds very similar to Wilkosz 2♦ (weak 5-5, at least 1 major), which is forbidden anywhere but in Poland.
  7. OT but related: I remember a big fuzz when a Dutch pair tried to use Holo-Bolo vs a 4=4=3=2 1♣. This was forbidden IIRC. When and where was this?
  8. BBO uses cross imps, not butler. The metho to obtain the result is very similar as how matchpoints are calculated, replacing the 1/0.5/0 result by the difference according to IMP table and (optionally; BBO does it) divide by the number of comparisons.. A recent thread went about the advantages of this vs butler. IMO, the only advantage of butler is needing fewer calculations to obtain a result, and when you use a computer that point is moot.
  9. Moved a misplaced post from the Paterno thread to the "best compliment at table" thread, on request from the own post. Deleted two subsequent post referring to the post which is now no longer there, as they served no purpose. 1) Quoted misplaced post, asked why Paterno would care 2) "I misplaced the post"
  10. Didn't Mexico beat Canada in 2009?
  11. No Balicki-Zmudzinski either, which may partly explain the polish performance.
  12. Too many people keep jumping from table to table at the sight of declarer hand when they see it is going down [ a lot ]. It should count negatively somehow.
  13. Potential for abuse is too big. Consider you could add a bunch of unrelated names to your friend's list, and message away. Won't happen.
  14. The exam is enough. The proctor have to be an ACBL TD, though. Vampyr, there is a part of the exam based on (ACBL) regulations, that one probably should need to be passed separately.
  15. Here in Argentina the biggest ATM network charges U$S 4 per transation I think. Also saw it in Canada, but not in all banks, I think BMO.
  16. Jassem told me he has no plans to translate it, he doesn't like how english WJ2005 sold. Citing no real interest in America (as they can't play it as per the book). (I asked him at the European in June)
  17. I am not SURE, but I have no symbol.ttf around and see suit symbols fine. I think Flash forces Unicode, or makes difficult not to use it, but again, not sure.
  18. That is a Flash bug (FP-40; you need an account to see the content of that page). Used to affecte me inputting some non ascii spanish characters, not anymore. What Flash version are you using?
  19. You can write in any language, the Flash client supports Unicode. May have issues between Flash and non-Flash clients.
  20. Enable Javascript, check your PC's time zone settings, that is where it is taken from.
