"I am also using 3♦ Sharif for preempts - 9-12, any 7 solid, no ace or king" You mean no As or K outside i hope. Anyway i play the same just for me the word solid mean headed by AKQ. One thing that let me think that MR sharif ment solid to be AKQ is that on the continuation process you dont have any trump honors asking or showing.

How does your 5♣♦ openers look like? My guideline is what qualifies for Namyats in MAJOR qualifies for Gambling 3NT in minor. My 5c/5d look like this KQJXXXXXX but my Namyats in MAJOR also look like AKQXXXX, so we agree on that part. Im not saying you're wrong, its just the way i was tought to play and never seen anyone play differently till today.

"3NT is any 7 solid and this is solid." I thought 7 card solid is AKQXXXX. and maybe AKJ10XXX And like Ben i dont play that premptives to show weak suits, actually its the first time i hear something like that.

Should 3NT+1 and 4M = have same score?
Flame replied to badderzboy's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
This reminded me of something happend to me when i was a newbie, i got to 3h and took 13 tricks, while at the other tables they took only 12 tricks in 4h and 6h, i thought the scoring it wrong. Sure its not the same but its the same principle, and ovious to me that there is no need to change it. If i would change something is about the minor scoring, to make it more of an option. -
In natural system i play that 3c isnt forcing but 3d is, therefore 4nt is RCB for club and im going to use it (if thats not true then ill create a club forcing with 2sp/4c), asking key card for club is usually a problem, and here too if partner has only one (or zero) im in truble , but i think i this is very rare and i can take the chances. after 4nt- 5c (0-3) [if playing 1430 its even easier because of 5c i can pass] ill ask for Q of club, and if p have it he will also show something else, like a side K, but i think ill bid 7 whenerver he got the Q anyway.
-
I think if you passed you would have hear 3sp -4sp from the opps with their 10 card fit, then just like i previously said i would bid 5D. i wouldnt say this 3D is a bad bid, its a matter of style. the alternative for me is 1D.
-
When reading it i thought its a cool idea but too complex for me. I also remember that i didnt like the math part, and prefer to use logic instead. Anyway I wont be surprise if we similar ideas (maybe a bit simpler) will find it way to being common in the future.

what does this sequence mean?(sayc)
Flame replied to myfish's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
1M - 2c- 2M will have 6 card suit or 5 card and 4OM 1M - 2d -2M can also be 5M and 4C so its not exactly the same and after the 2c you are more sure of p having a 6 card suit. -

Question about alerts policy on BBO
Flame replied to Flame's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Do you give them your exact hand ? For example when you open 1nt with 17 hcp, do you say its 17 hcp and give the exact distribution ? or do you say 15-17 balanced ? -
19 Point 2C Opening
Flame replied to pbleighton's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I like the idea, but didnt like the system after 2c -2d and even less the system after 2c - 2 something else how will you bid 6 card heart after 2c -2s ? they say 3h show 3 card spade ? and after 2c -2d why not play 2nt natural ? and bid 2M with 5 ? anyway after 2c-2non diamond you will need some work inorder to decide wather game is avaliable, maybe some artificial continuation is needed here. 0 hcp and 6 hcp arent the same, and opener can have 19 but can also have 23. -
I'll take that as a general slam offer, i dont think it can be taken for anything specific because the alternatives 3sp and 4c arent clear (those are natural bids)

What do u bid over a weak 1NT?
Flame replied to badderzboy's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
I would transfer and pass. Try to avoid passing when you dont know what to do, this happend to many new players and its a bad abit. Two more options that you didnt mention here is to bid 2h and then 2nt, which is invitational, or bid 2h and then 3sp which is also inv but with 6 card spade. both options are to consider but i would go with the pass over 2sp. -
The problem with this is that partner with 3 spades will probebly leave you to play 4sp, which will be ugly to play, im not even sure i want to be there on 4-4 (on imp) I have no idea what is right here, and hope to see more answers

Why can opener not simply have a strong 3-1-4-5 shape for this auction (ie delayed 3S raise after responder rebids 2N)? He can. I understand that you will bid 3♠ next after 2nt, and you say that this doesnt have to be a four card. I agree but for this you need some agrements for 4 card support like Ben have.
-
A related questions does 1♣ - 1♠ 2♦ can have 4 card ♠ support ? (stronger then 3♠) If it can then lets say responder now bid 2NT now 3s i guess shows 4 card support. then with only 3 card and 6 clubs you will have to bid 3♣ also with no 3 spades you will bid 3♣ You may prefer that those to bids for 3♣ will show same high card. For this to happend your 3♣ shouldnt be the same hcp as the normal 3♣ (that got nothing to do with 3 spades) This suggest to play the 3♣ as strong bid probebly GF and forcing. I dont like it that much because i prefer my good side of the system to show the more freqent hands, and 15 hcp are more frequent then 18 hcp. (maybe you can give 3♥ an artificial meaning and solve this problem)
-
In AMBRA we bid 17+ with 6♣ suit like this 1♣ -1♥ 2♦ - 2♠ relay 3♣ - 6 clubs with 17+ hcp.
-
I understand now

mikestar, I read your page, and its lil hard to understand, I think the names are the least importent, the more importent is when to use which kind of asking, you can call it kukuriku. I think you should give a sequence to each name , like you did with the Delta. now from what i understand 1c-1h-1s is omega, then responder suppose to answer it, but then you say that 1c-1h-1s-2c/D/h/s are delta, i think you got a mistake there.

Ben Let me expain maybe i wasnt clear. I would like my hand evaluation process to give me a 6.8 result on these pair of hands, because this is the potential of pair, therefore i said that for me on this hand the zar machina was 100% accurate.
-
Well on hand one, they will take their ♦A, or at least could take their ♦A, so I think 13 tricks is going to be tough to take after that one. On hand 3, you go down on a ♦ lead. As the defense can manage a ♠, a ♦ ruff and two ♥'s. Fact is, not an easy defense to find. But they can start with two ♥ and then switch to a ♦, but the temptation to lead through ♣s was just too great. Zar points imo arent suppose to tell you what is the right contract, they suppose to help you estimate the hand potential. the machine is giving you aresult like 6.8S is a cool thing but the machina shouldnt be alowed to transfer information like number of aces , or else it will be 100% accurate and 100% useless, I was happy with the 6.8 result because the machine got it right, there are 13 tricks to take. At least in natural system this kind of estimate is just what you need. The process in slam bidding is usually, first check if there is slam potential (and this is what the machine answer for was yes) then if that exist check if we dont have 2 losers , meaning missing two aces, or missing a control in a suit. and same idea for grand.

I'm suppose to play super precision in few days and im learning it now. after 1c - 1M 1NT is CAB-controll asking bid. and 2M is TAB-trump asking bid. My question is 2M still TAB even if i used 1nt first ? Its seems right, but i want to be sure.
