  1. 4H are my bids ( NV or Vul). I have to assume something.I am an aggressive bidder and since I can't see all 52 cards I shall always bid 4Hearts .It does not matter if I go down.
  2. 2H what else ? 2H is 100%forcing for ONE ROUND ,when playing any NORMAL standard system. In systems like Precision 2 H is a passable bid because the opening bid except 1Club is limited to 15 HCP. .
  3. I like to play variable NT.13/15 NV and 15/17 Vul, if so allowed. With my regular partner playing Precision I naturally play 13/15 in all p.
  4. We like to play Precision system and hence I shall open 1Heart in all positions.Playing Standard,Acol or SAYC,I shall open only in the third seat and passing in 1,2,or 4th seat for obvious reasons e.g. 8 losers etc.
  5. West must not pass this dbl as he can not see any possibility of defeating two hearts contract. The dbl is Action Dbl and shows a good hand without six spades and hence tolerance for remaining suits. It also shows at least two defensive tricks and hence can stand a pass if partner decides to pass with a different hand.East knows that West does not have 3 card spades since he did not make a support dbl.
  6. west muust not pass this dbl. This is an action dbl.It shows tolerance for all remaining suits and at least two defensive tricks.Wests pass is therefore dubious.
  7. I play the following.A 2C opening shows,(a) 23 plus if balanced,(b)nine or more winners if single suiter major.©ten or more winners if single suiter in minor. Responses:(a)2D shows less than 8 HCP and also less than one and half Culbertson tricks.(b)2H/S and 3C/D show 8 plus HCP and the named 5plus suit.©2NT shows 8 plus balanced hand.(d)3H/S and 4C/D show slam hands 4441 with the bid suit singleton.I never faced any problems with this plan.
  8. I do not know who put the balanced 24 HCP hand in the multi 2 D bid.In my opinion it is absolutely silly .One opens 2 C on such a hand and rebids 2 NT with 23-24 and 3NT with 25/26..It is much sensible to play 2D as Flannery as in one bid you tell your hand to partner who can now preempt or sign off or make constructive forcing bids or even Pass. With the given options a 2 H bid is the only sensible bid on this particular hand.
  9. 2 Spade is the only logical bid on this hand if the 1NT bid is 100% forcing for one round. And if partner invites with 3S,I will not hesitate to bid 4S looking at that lovely DQ and the J10 of spade and two kings will be useful in 3 NT if partner invites with 2NT.
  10. If you do use Gerber and partner shows two Aces ,how do you propose to proceed further? Which denomination are you going to decide as your final contract?
  11. 3S asking parter to cue bid cheapest 2nd or 1st round control.
  12. I have already passed and my hand contains 9 and half losers.I do play lLebensohl in all positions and so I will play in 3 hearts after making the 2 NT relay. It does not matter how many I go down if the distribution is very freak and partner does not have a goodish heart suit and also if he has balanced on a hand with 8 or more losers.
  13. I open the biddable 4 card major if the hand contains 10 plus HCP in any two suits with one side suit wide open, although it contains 15 /17 points. 1S-2C 3C-3D(forcing and may be made with many types.Partner takes it as showing no guard in Hearts. 3NT-4D (all purpose cue bid) 4H Cue heart Ace.3NT earlier showed a double guard in heart suit. With a single guard he bids 3 hearts and 4 clubs with none, Now a jump to 6 Spades is very reasonable.
  14. This is what was known as "Papa- Mamma" bridge bidding and very clearly made on the full sight of all 52 cards.
  15. Well,if your Partner does bid 2Club you bid 2Hearts and he will know your doubleton heart support, goodish hand plus the advantage of a spade or a diamond lead not going through him straightaway ,if you bid anything else.
  16. To me it appears,West has 5 diamonds and one spade. His heart and club holdings are unknown. If he has Qxx in hearts then it will come down when the third round is ruffed ,a fact which will occur if he holds xxxx in hearts as it will then come down from East.If nothing happens then it is very likely that clubs will be 3-3 and you can overtake the club ten and take the discard on the thirteenth club.
  17. Obviously ,a negative double.! What's the problem !
  18. VIP member has correctly said everything.I wish to add one more factor. One does not yet know what LHO hand is since his turn has to come still.Being vulnerable against not ,if you double ,you may be slaughtered for 800 plus.
  19. So simple when playing Goren ! one heart -- 4 hearts.
  20. I know the relays developed by Damitall, who does not play Stayman over 1NT.Even on 2NT openings she prefers to play Baron as then one does not miss a slam in a 44 minor suit fit.She also has laid down two prinipales 1) opener never makes a splinter bid and(2)opener bids the fourth suit to guarantee a control in that suit and not to deny it..

  22. I shall open 1D and if Partner bids 1H I shall bid 2 H.If instead he bids 1S then I bid 1 NT.I shall bid 2C only if his bid is 1NT.
  23. A hand crept up recently. You hold S-KQ10852,H-Void,D-Void,C-AQJ9654 and you hear RHO (vul) open 1 Spade, whatever you bid LHO makes a negative dbl ,partner pass and RHO rebids Spades showing a six card suit. Now what?
  24. Although five card majors is almost universally accepted,I like playing the old fashioned 4 card major system. It has it's advantages.Opening 1 spade deprives the opponents of vital bidding space.Their one level over calls with 6 plus HCP are no longer available.Rarely, it conceals the eight card spade fit which they may be having. In a fixed partnership it makes partners life comfortable. If one employs the Canapé style it allows the partnership to play a two or three level contract in a minor with partner already knowing your nine cards without having to reverse. In fact a combination of Super Precision and Blue Team Club has allowed our partnership to play in great comfort as compared to SAYC.Of course I know that practically all are going to dissent my views but my success in some high level tournaments says otherwise.
