  1. Perhaps it shows a maximum hand and a holding AQx, AKx, Axxxx,xx .with such a hand a Moysian major suit game may prove a better contract.
  2. Stiff Ace with RHO is not going to help. But leading the king may help if LHO has Qx doubleton.
  3. opening 2club on the given hand is simply eccentric.playing standard system the bidding would go 1S -2C 3H -5C.
  4. For me playing with a partner playing any standard e.g.Sayc,Acol or std American I play 2D as Flannery. It is no use playing multi against strong opponents as they know how to deal with it. Same for playing it as weak in diamonds. When playing strong club or precision I use it to show sub-one club opener short in diamonds and lacking a five card major.Playing blue club I use 2D as three suited with no five card major and 17 to 23 HCP. it all depends upon who my partner is.
  5. When playing with a new player and agreeing to play a standard natural system which is always an approach oriented system with the theory of convenient rebid I shall always open with 1Diamond.I can not be held stupid by any such partner since a convenient rebid of 2 clubs or 1Nt is available depending upon the honor holdings in the majors. It allows a simple raise of partners major suit bid with three cards including two honors if the minor suits are ragged .
  6. A modified Stayman.Opener bids 2D which shows minimum of 1NT range and can have one major only.Opener bids 2H with both majors and with 15/ bad16 and bids 2 S with good 16/17 with both majors. The other bids by opener eg 2NT/3CDorS or 3NT show different distributions with a maximum hand..
  7. If the explanations of the auction including and upto 2 NT bid are to be believed then since there is nothing more to say east should bid 3NT unless that bid means something else in this weird system.
  8. double here (Over opps 2D)is normally a support double showing a 3 card fit for partners suit.2H is not a reverse but shows a two suiter with 5 losers and no 3 card support for partners suit.3H will be the reverse forced by opponents 2D bid.
  9. Both are equally to be blamed.Instead of doubling 2spades South must bid Three Diamonds to show a powerful hand or at least three heart depending upon the partnership agreement.North was a little over conservative in passing three hearts or even the three diamond bid.He could have doubled three diamonds to show a better than Yarborough hand or bid three hearts then and there only.
  10. One Heart all the time.An international who opened a similar looking hand as 1 NoTrump would have gone down five doubled. However ,he ran to two hearts got doubled and went three shy.Had he opened One Heart his fate would have been much better.
  11. I can never get two trump tricks. So I shall lead the Ace of Diamonds to see the dummy and partners card.I know nothing may work as a robot ,the silly machine ,is my partner.
  12. If you are singleton or void in hearts, and,if you have a ,7card or more ,minor bid it as an escape. All other times keep mum.Your opener partner must not bid any other four carder suit.Pass and suffer silently.Your opener partner can't see your hand and bid accordingly. It happens once in may be a thousand deals or perhaps more.Be prepared to get a zero at match points or -13 IMP scoring.
  13. I do not like to play 2/1 as game forcing. My style is old fashioned I.e. 2/1 is forcing to 2NT or 3 of a suit only. However playing any way I shall open 1Spade since 6 controls, full 17HCP plus a five card good major means the hand is too strong to be opened as 1NT.The bidding will then go, 1S---2C 3NT (the hand is worth 18 HCP by virtue of AQxxx suit.) Check Aces by simple Blackwood (No suit agreed as yet) and bid 6NT.after finding one King missing.
  14. Hand 1) Two spade, help asking suit bid.Partner will sign off in three if not holding help. Hand 8) Three club followed by Five diamond. Hand 14) Nine losers. Will not open this hand.Under the given auction I will Pass with this hand. Hand 19) Two Spade forcing one round. Hand 20) Three Spade.
  15. Not at all safer. A TOD followed by 1Nt shows 18-19 balanced, since with 15 -17 you overcall 1NT playing SAYC
  16. With QJ109,xxx,Qxx,xxx,Then over partners take out double I shall bid 1S but with the given hand which ,even if only 5HCP ,has only 8losers and nothing wasted in clubs,My bid is not 1S but TWO spade which limits my hand to 8 losers exactly. After a take out dbl in 2nd position by partner it is the losing tricks count rather than mere HCP count since partner s hand is bound to be semi balanced or suit oriented or NT oriented( only if he has 18-19 HCP )which he can describe only by making a take out double first. His later rebids will tell the story.Of course I have forgotten the partners hand already described and bidding as if it was not known.
  17. I do not think it is wise to show a singleton facing a balanced partner .Good thing you used the word "regardless". It may work once in a thousand hands only.So better to play simple bridge.Too many gadgets spoil many hands.
  18. If the hand warrants only a game then why not, 1NT----2heart 2S-----4heart This I presume shows six six in majors.
  19. Is the contract seven no trumps? As it is there are top twelve tricks in six NT.Or is there a misprint?
  20. LTT is a really good one at any type of scoring,1)if your opponents are apparently weaker than you.2) if your partner is also fully conversant with LTT. Once my partner on BBO thought that the competitive bid, which I made based on LTT,was a highly invitational bid and shot to game with -800 result. My humble suggestion is " use LTT at either forms of scoring provided you know your opponents and your partner"
