The problem is not North, but South, that is not bidding according to system. It is very frustrating, that GIB's implementation of Michaels Cuebid (and 2N like here) is wrong, so any further bids from the cuebidder shows 25+ - I think Stephen has written it before, as North has promised no points, souths bid shows the number of hcp needed to win the contract - here that is 25+ total points. Last time i forgot GIB jumped to 7♣ :-)

Now declarer (Also GIB) enter dummy with a ♦ and plays a ♣ to the J (I am not sure what the idea of playing ♦ first is, but forget that), and continues with a ♣ to the Queen, and the last ♣ from dummy. What will you discard? On the actual layout there is 11 tricks, and your discard can't cost a trick, but you might fool GIB - or just let GIB get a bad simulation. Have you made up your mind?

I have noticed, that even though it is often stated that the bots don't signal, it looks to me, that some signalling occur. Perhaps it is just the randomness of the discards, that makes me remember, when it match the actual holding, and just not notice, when it doesn't match But let us look at an example from yesterdays Challenge - this is NOT the advanced bots [hv=pc=n&n=sj976hk74daqjck65&s=sakq43ha963dk6cq8&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=p1cp1sp2sp4np5dp6sppp]266|200[/hv] You quickly bid to 6♠, and the West bot lead ♥J to the King (♥8 from East) This is a fine slam, as all you need is to find where ♣A is located, and Mortons fork Coup is present (https://www.bridgebu...s_fork_coup.php) Normally I would expect East to hold ♣A more than 50% of the time as West might have lead it, but I am not sure about the bots leading principles Now all followed to two rounds of ♠, and you have arrived at the decision point. Is the ♣A at east or West? Well, just playing it like normal bridge, I cashed one more round of trump (ending in dummy), to see some discards, and West threw ♣3 and East♣9. So did that change anything? Now, we players might assume that a high card is encouraging, but as bots don't intentionally signal it is probably not the case, but still it signals something to us, as the bots often drops the highest card it can afford. ♠ is 2-2 ♦ is probably 4-4 as no ♦-discards So clubs seems to be 4-4 or 5-3, but assuming 4-4 based on the discards, it seems both opponents are 2344 Have you made up your mind?

Impressive work Stephen From todays free Daylong tournament I had this deal [hv=url=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?lin=st||pn|Thorvald,~~v3fakebot,~~v3fakebot,~~v3fakebot|md|4S82HKT9D743CAKQJ9,SAQHQ842DAJT95C32,SKT9764H6DQ2CT654,SJ53HAJ753DK86C87|sv|n|rh||ah|Board%202|mb|P|mb|1C|an|Minor%20suit%20opening%20--%203+%20!C;%2011-21%20HCP;%2012-22%20total%20points|mb|1D|an|One-level%20overcall%20--%205+%20!D;%208-17%20HCP;%209-19%20total%20points|mb|1S|an|Free%20bid%20--%204+%20!S;%206+%20total%20points;%20forcing|mb|2D|an|3+%20!D;%206-10%20total%20points|mb|P|mb|P|mb|P|pc|H6|pc|HA|pc|H9|pc|H8|pc|D6|pc|D3|pc|D9|pc|DQ|pc|C5|pc|C8|pc|CQ|pc|C3|pc|HK|pc|H2|pc|S7|pc|H7|pc|HT|pc|HQ|pc|D2|pc|H3|pc|S4|pc|S5|pc|S2|pc|SQ|pc|D5|pc|C4|pc|D8|pc|D4|pc|DK|pc|D7|pc|DT|pc|S6|pc|S3|pc|S8|pc|SA|pc|S9|pc|H4|pc|C6|pc|HJ|pc|CA|pc|H5|pc|C9|pc|C2|pc|CT|pc|C7|pc|CK|pc|DA|pc|ST|pc|DJ|pc|SK|pc|SJ|pc|CJ|]399|300[/hv] I think most players would bid 2♠ on the North hand instead of passing 2♦. I assume we are out of the defined sequences, so this calls for a simulation Following your explanation 2♠ going down will always be doubled, and then it seems better to let opps play 2♦ - if simulation could not be fixed this just calls for a generic rule, that over partners opening you should not let the opponents play below 2 in your major with a 6-card suit For those still here there was also an interesting observation in the play, just follow the play
-
I just lost at 16 board match by 31, not the first time, and certainly not the last time, but what I noticed here was my opponent 7 times out of 8 opened the weaker minor, and gained 31 Imp's. Two of the 3 boards was because the bot could not figiure out where to play as the opening stole their suit, so the bot went 800 and 1100. Could be interesting if anyone had made some statistics about opening weaker minor with the strongest hand.
-
I am still trying to figure out if there are any rules for what card to lead thru declarer or just later in the play, just like the rules for the opening-lead. The bot got this East hand [hv=pc=n&n=shkq7dkt7432ckjt9&e=sq952hjt852d96cq2&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=1sp2dp2sp3cp3nppp]266|200[/hv] Now partner leads ♣4, and declarer fails and uses the 9. Now the bot figures that switching to ♠ is right (as often seen a switch to shortage at dummy) But what card? Now change the bidding a bit [hv=pc=n&n=shkq7dkt7432ckjt9&e=sq952hjt852d96cq2&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=1sp2dp2sp3cp3dp3hp3nppp]266|200[/hv] Same lead, and same error by declarer, and GIB again decides to play a ♠ in the two situations What is interesting that GIB did not play the same ♠
-
I understand, that there is no signaling, but it should not slow down the bot to calculate that a card is carrying some information, that could be used in the simulation. If partner isn't following suit it is obvious partner is void, but here it could be calculated that partner must have a singleton, but thx for the answer

Now assuming the bot figures this out, the only reason for the ♣-shift must be that it expects it to go more down, but it is hard to find hands, where that is possible.

-
I would be nice if GIB at least har some understandable rules about leads later in the play. I think I have seen almost any combination, as it seems pretty random, when the simulation gives identical results. This would not be an advantage for declarer but for the partner (player) I had this example today [hv=pc=n&n=st3hqt8653d972cj9&d=n&v=e&b=9&a=pp1n3dppp]133|200[/hv] The bot lead the ♠T and this dummy hit the table [hv=pc=n&e=sq9642hkjd4cqt864]133|100[/hv] Now partner used ♠ K, followed by the Ace and you got the ruff (Declarer following). For advanced players the sequence KA8 is showing interest in lowest suit, and the sequence ♠AK8 is showing interest in the highest suit. This is way beyond robot-logic, so it will just make a simulation ending up with a ♥-lead. In https://www.bridgeba...ystem_notes.php it is stated: When it has a choice of equivalent cards, it will choose based on leading and signaling conventions. I haven't found the leading and signaling conventions, but I would assumed that when leading a ♥ here it would play 4th highest. What do you think?

But even then it is a strange bid
-
You get this hand [hv=pc=n&s=sj2hk54dakq85c943&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=pp1d2cdp2d2spp?]133|200[/hv] Now you would like to compete, and with a normal partner a T/O would be fine. Partner would pass with a decent hand and 4♠, but it looks like partner could be 3-5 in the majors, and he could bid 3♥s. Now for the bot D is biddable ♠. Trying to find a competitive bid I looked at the explanation of 3♣, and it was explained as 5+♠ :-)
-
Playing with the advanced bots in the Zenith daylongs, I got this hand: [hv=pc=n&s=sq8653hq7d9c98643&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=1d1s2d?]133|200[/hv] At all 15 tables this was the start, and you have to decide how to continue. Normally with 5-card support it is ok just to jump to game, but with all red I wasn't sure it was the best, so after some considerations I settled with 3♠, and got the following continuation: [hv=d=w&v=b&b=4&a=1d1s2d3s4cp4np6dpp?]133|100[/hv] 4♣ was natural (19-22 points), and 6♦ was odd number off keycards and a void (probably in ♠). Is this the time for a sacrifice? I decided not, and the bot quickly picked up all 13 tricks on this layout: [hv=url=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?bbo=y&lin=ZZ%7C%7Cpn%7CThorvald%2CRobot%2CRobot%2CRobot%7Cst%7C%7Cmd%7C2SQ8653HQ7D9C98643%2CSHKJT3DQJ754CAKT2%2CSAK972H9654DK83CQ%2CSJT4HA82DAT62CJ75%7Csv%7CB%7Cah%7CBoard%204%7Cmb%7C1D%7Can%7CMinor%20suit%20opening%20--%203%2B%20%21D%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%2012-22%20total%20points%7Cmb%7C1S%7Can%7COne-level%20overcall%20--%205%2B%20%21S%3B%208-17%20HCP%3B%209-19%20total%20points%7Cmb%7C2D%7Can%7C4%2B%20%21D%3B%206-10%20total%20points%7Cmb%7C3S%7Can%7C4%2B%20%21S%3B%204-8%20total%20points%7Cmb%7C4C%7Can%7C4%20%21D%3B%2019-%20HCP%3B%20twice%20rebiddable%20%21C%3B%2019-22%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C4N%7Can%7CBlackwood%20%28D%29%20--%204%2B%20%21D%3B%2010%2B%20HCP%3B%2010-%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C6D%7Can%7COdd%20number%20of%20keycards.%20Void%20above%20D%20--%204%20%21D%3B%2019-%20HCP%3B%20twice%20rebiddable%20%21C%3B%2019-22%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cpc%7CCQ%7Cpc%7CC7%7Cpc%7CC3%7Cpc%7CCA%7Cpc%7CD7%7Cpc%7CD8%7Cpc%7CDT%7Cpc%7CD9%7Cpc%7CS4%7Cpc%7CS3%7Cpc%7CD4%7Cpc%7CS2%7Cpc%7CD5%7Cpc%7CD3%7Cpc%7CD6%7Cpc%7CS5%7Cpc%7CSJ%7Cpc%7CS6%7Cpc%7CDJ%7Cpc%7CS7%7Cpc%7CHK%7Cpc%7CH6%7Cpc%7CH2%7Cpc%7CH7%7Cpc%7CH3%7Cpc%7CH5%7Cpc%7CHA%7Cpc%7CHQ%7Cpc%7CDA%7Cpc%7CS8%7Cpc%7CDQ%7Cpc%7CDK%7Cpc%7CH8%7Cpc%7CC4%7Cpc%7CHJ%7Cpc%7CH9%7Cpc%7CHT%7Cpc%7CH4%7Cpc%7CST%7Cpc%7CSQ%7Cpc%7CC2%7Cpc%7CSA%7Cpc%7CCJ%7Cpc%7CC6%7Cpc%7CC5%7Cpc%7CC8%7Cpc%7CCK%7Cpc%7CSK%7Cpc%7CCT%7Cpc%7CS9%7Cpc%7CD2%7Cpc%7CC9%7C]399|300[/hv] Well not a great result and I got 25% like 7 others, but interesting how to get a decent score. One player did sacrifice in 6♠ and got 57%. One player did not support partner at all, and the bots found a 4-3 fit in ♥, making 12 but worth 64%. Three players jumped to 4♠ and two of them played a trump to early, resulting in 3 down, but still 75% - the one playing better went only 2 down and 86%. Now the last two players found the right solution [hv=url=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?bbo=y&lin=pn%7CHuman%2CRobot%2CRobot%2CRobot%7Cst%7C%7Cmd%7C2SQ8653HQ7D9C98643%2CSHKJT3DQJ754CAKT2%2CSAK972H9654DK83CQ%2CSJT4HA82DAT62CJ75%7Csv%7CB%7Cah%7CBoard%204%7Cmb%7C1D%7Can%7CMinor%20suit%20opening%20--%203%2B%20%21D%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%2012-22%20total%20points%7Cmb%7C1S%7Can%7COne-level%20overcall%20--%205%2B%20%21S%3B%208-17%20HCP%3B%209-19%20total%20points%7Cmb%7C2D%7Can%7C4%2B%20%21D%3B%206-10%20total%20points%7Cmb%7C2S%7Can%7C3%2B%20%21S%3B%206-10%20total%20points%7Cmb%7C3D%7Can%7C5%2B%20%21D%3B%2011%2B%20HCP%3B%2012-16%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C3S%7Can%7C3%2B%20%21S%3B%206-10%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cpc%7CDA%7Cpc%7CD9%7Cpc%7CD4%7Cpc%7CD3%7Cpc%7CC5%7Cpc%7CC3%7Cpc%7CCK%7Cpc%7CCQ%7Cpc%7CCA%7Cpc%7CS7%7Cpc%7CC7%7Cpc%7CC4%7Cpc%7CS2%7Cpc%7CST%7Cpc%7CSQ%7Cpc%7CD7%7Cpc%7CS3%7Cpc%7CH3%7Cpc%7CSA%7Cpc%7CS4%7Cpc%7CSK%7Cpc%7CSJ%7Cpc%7CS5%7Cpc%7CD5%7Cpc%7CDK%7Cpc%7CD2%7Cpc%7CH7%7Cpc%7CDQ%7Cpc%7CH4%7Cpc%7CHA%7Cpc%7CHQ%7Cpc%7CHK%7Cpc%7CD6%7Cpc%7CS6%7Cpc%7CDJ%7Cpc%7CD8%7Cpc%7CC9%7Cpc%7CC2%7Cpc%7CH5%7Cpc%7CCJ%7Cpc%7CH2%7Cpc%7CS8%7Cpc%7CHJ%7Cpc%7CH6%7Cpc%7CC8%7Cpc%7CCT%7Cpc%7CS9%7Cpc%7CH8%7Cpc%7CH9%7Cpc%7CDT%7Cpc%7CC6%7Cpc%7CHT%7C]399|300[/hv] I am not sure, why West couldn't bid 3♣, but the two players got 96% for their shared top. Interesting how the middle road gave the bad result.
-
So even though a bid is limited to 15-17 HCP from a 1N bid, the simulation does not use that ? But instead looks at the undefined bid and assumes 25+ HCP. Very interesting error in GIB's logic.
-
1N is limited to 17 HCP, so ♥E could be at West

I have noticed, that when the Bot transfers to 3 minor after a 1N opening it often has, what I call an invitational hand, but the explanation just states 6+ card in the minor, So I am often (not always) losing Imps when opener bids 3N like here: [hv=url=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?bbo=y&lin=pn%7CHuman%2CRobot%2CRobot%2CRobot%7Cst%7C%7Cmd%7C1SAQ4H973DKT97CAQ6%2CSJT862HAT6DJ4CT73%2CS953HQ4DQ6CKJ9842%2CSK7HKJ852DA8532C5%7Csv%7CN%7Cah%7CBoard%2015%7Cmb%7C1N%7Can%7Cnotrump%20opener.%20Could%20have%205M.%20--%202-5%20%21C%3B%202-5%20%21D%3B%202-5%20%21H%3B%202-5%20%21S%3B%2015-17%20HCP%3B%2018-%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C2N%21%7Can%7CMinor%20transfer%20--%206%2B%20%21C%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C3N%7Can%7C2-5%20%21C%3B%202-5%20%21D%3B%202-5%20%21H%3B%202-5%20%21S%3B%2017-%20HCP%3B%2018%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cpc%7CSJ%7Cpc%7CS3%7Cpc%7CSK%7Cpc%7CSA%7Cpc%7CCA%7Cpc%7CC3%7Cpc%7CC2%7Cpc%7CC5%7Cpc%7CCQ%7Cpc%7CC7%7Cpc%7CC4%7Cpc%7CH2%7Cpc%7CC6%7Cpc%7CCT%7Cpc%7CCK%7Cpc%7CH8%7Cpc%7CCJ%7Cpc%7CD2%7Cpc%7CD7%7Cpc%7CH6%7Cpc%7CC9%7Cpc%7CD8%7Cpc%7CD9%7Cpc%7CD4%7Cpc%7CC8%7Cpc%7CH5%7Cpc%7CS4%7Cpc%7CHT%7Cpc%7CD6%7Cpc%7CD5%7Cpc%7CDK%7Cpc%7CDJ%7Cpc%7CSQ%7Cpc%7CS8%7Cpc%7CS5%7Cpc%7CS7%7Cmc%7C9%7C]399|300[/hv] The defense is difficult, but after the lead only chance is that partner has Axx in ♥, as declarer has 6♣+2♠, and always will make if he has ♥A - the bots two first discards was ♥.
