  1. You can either play 2♣ as GF with different types of hands and find out after some relays what pd has. Or, my favorite ( for now ), use common sense and lie a little. Never about having 4 card support for pd, but maybe making a 2/1 response on a 3 card minor. I think the hands that would include you to lie are very few and not worth the headache. If you get more comfortable with you system, maybe you can add a 2♣ relaying system. Mike ;)
  2. I play with some pd's that if you can still Jump, it is Texas. With others I play South African to differ between good hands and hands that I want to try 4 of a major. With this particular hand, I know you didn't ask but still, I would bid 3♠ ( Lebensohl ) GF with 5♠. And I play that with all my pd's ;) Mike ;)
  3. Many 2/1 players play many different conventions with it. All it means, that with most, a 2 over 1 response is GF. With some it is GF unless they rebid the suit, mostly minors. Your best bet, is letting pd know you want to play 2/1 and whatever conventions you want. Start out with not too many, since this only leads to confussion. If you find a pd that you want to play with for longer time you can add as you go. It's better to play few conventions that you both agree on and fully understand then many conventions, trying to impress the opps, which leads to confussion. Mike ;)
  4. Pd lead ♣ for a reason, I have no entrees to set up ♦ suit, unless pd had AJx, but I think he would lead ♦. At least my steady pd's do ;) Pdships desks are hard places to be hehehe Mike ;)
  5. I would say that X would be Penalty oriented. With a 4 card ♠ he would just bid it, therefore also denying ♣ stopper, since he didn't bid 3 NT. Mike ;)
  6. Strong NT X = ♣ or Red Suits or Majors or Strong ♠ 2♣ = ♦ or ♣/ Major 2♦ = ♦/ Major 2♥ = ♥ 2♠ = weak ♠ Weak NT X = opening value 15+ 2♣ = 44+M OR semi-GF one-suiters (rebids 3♣+) 2♦ = 5+ card in any Major OR GF one-suiters (rebids 3♣+) 2M = 5M/ 4+m 2NT = 5/ 5+m Balancing Seat against Both X = 5+m OR 44+M OR constructive hands 2♣ = 4/ 4+ ♣ and another suit (both minors possible) 2♦ = 4/ 4+ ♦ and a Major 2M = natural, 5+M 2NT = 5/5+m Mike
  7. If I was forced to play SAYC, I would open 1 NT. Mike
  8. Here is another idea. I play Major Jumpshift as 6 card suit with 10-11 HCP. 3 Level as Splinter. Since most people bid their major anyhow with few points and 6 card Major suit. As long as you play Sign-off after pd bids 2 NT, you bid 3♣, pd is forced to bid 3♦ and when you now bid 3 of you major, you are telling pd you basically had a weak Jumpshift in that Major. Nice and easy Mike
  9. In SAYC and 2/1, you can't really find out what 5-4 pd has. That's a little downfall, I have played many 4-3 ♦ partscores instead of 5-3 ♣ fits. Very few were for a bad score, it's live. Minorsuit partscores is something most experts don't really care for, especially in MP's. Mike
  10. 3♦ is GF, after pd's rebid, I'll bid ♠ again, setting up slam interest. Don't see a problem. Mike
  11. Pass is my favorite, 4♦ second choice. Mike
  12. Pd is not telling me that he likes ♠, he overcalled on 4 card suit so i know what he has. He is asking, strongly I might add, for ♣ switch. This isn't down yet, declarer has many ♦, and pd not going to like see declarer run them all. Mike
  13. Ugh, I wouldn't overcall 2♥ directly. Something to be said for X first time around. But I am a bidder, so I will now bid 2NT. Mike
  14. It only applies for very specific sequences. When you have a 2 suited fit, both known and opps interfering. I haven't had one in about 15 years, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Mike
  15. I play 3♥ as either my own good suit, or ♥/♦ hand. Pd is short, singeton or void in♠. My hand is great in offense. Give my pd 2 Kings in minor suits and singleton ♠ and I am making slam. Opps are bidding on ♠ and shape. Not sure if 4NT is Ace asking, more like a shape asking bid I think. I will bid 6♣. Think this is more common sense then system talk. If people actually have this on their CC, they probably should check in for Lobotomy  Mike
  16. I play scrambling 2NT after balancing X. Mike
  17. I would X first, I do have other 2 suits  But now I have to bid 5♦, 6-5 is offensive, not defensive. Pd's X shows values, not based on ♠ cards. I think we can make 6 in one of the red suits, that's why I would have X first, let pd know I have good hand, and I need Aces. Maybe now he can make good decision. Mike
  18. Most lead 2nd from Odd. And 3rd from even. But you better be experienced cause you gotta pay good attention to a lot of little cards. Mike
  19. 4 Tricks, 9.6087%. You start with the 10 from dummy and let it run. Mike
  20. I guess I am only one to bid♠, I have easy rebid after any of my pd's bids. Simple game. But now that I supported ♥, I think west is too good to pass, any gametry will work. But I rather be in 4♠ then 4♥. Mike :D
  21. 2♣, if pd has(and he does) ♠ he will do something smart. I have found out that X with void generally not good. Mike :D
  22. American pair won last year, this year it will European victory. Mike :D
  23. Just move to Liechtenstein, Luxemburg or the Vatican. Should not be too hard to be topplayer in these countries, and think about all the Tax benefits too hehehe :D Mike :D
  24. Perhaps as the first part of the process you should automatically refuse every request. Thereafter those that get angry are automatically disqualified forever :D I agree 100%. Mike :D
