Congrats :) Mike :(

This is not an opening in ZARpoints, only 24 ZARpoints. Need 26 to open. Mike :(
-
First case; West passes, East bids 3♥, West 4♠, East 4NT and off to slam we go. Second/ Third case; West passes, east openes 1♠, West bid 2♦ (4card Limit raise in ♠), East 3♦(good hand, ♦suit), West 4♣(cuebid),East 4♦(cuebid), West 4♠, East 4 NT(RKC) and we end up in 6♠. Mike :(

It's hard, nearly impossible, to run SpeedBall tourneys with random players on BBO. At least for now, a lot of people entering don't even know what it is. Then you got players from parts of the world with older pc's and really bad connections, slowing stuff down. And then you have the players who slowplay bad contracts, and it will take time to filter them out. Adjusting nearly every brd every round should tell you that. Speedball is different bridge, I know people, on BBO and real life, who will take very much time thinking about every hand, and are always slow. Come play rubberbridge with me someday, we play about 100 brds in 2 hours :( Time is money :) Mike :D

Greco- Hampson long overdue. Possibly Bocchi- DuBoin. Mike :(

Duck first♥ trick. That's keyplay. Ruff ♥ in dummy pull trump and see if ♠ Q is dropping 2nd or 3rd. If not, I play rest of my trumps for possible squeezes. Ben knows em all by name, I don't :( And even if that doesn't work we finesse the ♣. Maybe I'll be lucky :) Mike :D
-
Guess my pd has a more honest face then me, but who doesn't hehehe. Ducking the ♠ to dummy is putting a lot of trust in my pd and I am the one that supposed to trust him, not my opps :( SO I will duck the ♠9, let declarer break up his own squeeze. Will teach him, to think my pd is honest. Mike :)
-
I am not trusting the ♠10. X-ruffing will more then likely not work, so need to get 2 ♥ tricks, 8♣ tricks if they split 2-1 and ♦ Ace = 11 tricks. Why does East play that ♠10, he doesn't know I am 5-5. Unless he peeked :( So I pull trump and finesse ♥, if the ♣ are 3-0, then the ♥ have to behave. Mike :)

I don't really care for Last Train, It doesn't happen enough, in my eyes. Why remember a whole bunch of stuff for something not coming up that much. The few times it does , and either you or pd screw up, I think with good judgement you will get to most of the slams without the chance of mistakes. Mike :(
-
It's ok. I know it works real good. And last few times I beat Meckwell in regional it was because of swing on 3rd seat 10-12 NT's. Wouldn't dare to call them weak :( Mike :)

About time :( Mike :)

Hi Mike, She didn't say it was a "yellow", she said it was a "yellow star," which i assume means a "gold star" not a BBO yellow who happens to also be a gold star. But rather it was a yellow, a gold star, a yellow gold star, or anyone else... alerts need to be made. Ben I guess, that could be possible. I just took it as a Yellow with a star. Mike
-
Sorry I disagree with this comment - there is a lot of skill in matchpoints too. Even here you would have to assess whether, in matchpoints, you are better off making sure of the slam because not everyone will have bid it. I second that. Everybody makes mistakes, but both starplayers on both tables. That, I think, shows the level of a lot a starplayers on BBO. Mike

T/O or penalty?
Trpltrbl replied to happybridge's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
I play Penalty both ways. But, I like what Misho and Free suggest, certainly worth taking a look at. I know I will. Mike  -
You can play different stuff. I still play Bergen after X, therefore 2 NT is open for balanced 3 card limitraise. And on top of that I play Transfers after X, showing a 2 card support, and 5+ in suit transfrerred to. So we have XX left for all 1 card support or less with 10+ HCP. Easy, isn't it? Especially the BergenRaise, now people have to figure out at 3 level what's going on. Mike
-
Yellow stars should go out of there way to explain everything. That's why they are yellow (to help) and have stars (to set good example). This was very bad, a good reason to lose their yellow status and possibly their stars..... Mike

starting really dumb bridge forums,

10-12 NT NV in 3rd seat is a great weapon. It's about the best preempt you can use, pd can still have a 9 count. It makes it really hard on opps. Of course no sense in 4th seat, who you going to make it hard on, yourself ? I play 12-14 then. Mike
-
Grrrrrr, of course I noticed it instantly :P But that's because I have seen this combo a few times before. And I am sure there are some combo's out there, even I haven't seen, very doubtfull, but possible  Mike :D

ZAR points All the info is there, but if that is not good enough let me know. I will try to help. Mike
-
Hehe, I knew I was stupid. Now it's getting, of course, a lot harder to to get to the Grand, I think with conventional systems it's impossible to find out about the xx of ♥ Mike
-
I did post the correct play. It's obvious that if, when I play the 9/8 of D and they show out, I win the K and play towards the jack. Do I really have to spell everything out ? Thought this was the expert forum...... Mike
-
Seems you be trusting your opps more then your pd, that's not good. I have no reason not to lead a ♠. I also don't play with pd's who psych in first seat. Mike
-
That's why you think when first trick is lead so you won't give any info away during play. Mike
