  1. unfortunately this was against two pickups so i couldn't have given much more information. As it happened nothing would have worked, but I pitched a club at trick three successfully, and then immediately worked on diamonds. I think playing one or two trumps first is better. And Mike I've been on this forum for a long time, but I find a comment like, "The fact that an OP doesn’t seem to consider this sort of information to be relevant says a lot about the OP’s skill level," decidedly unhelpful. I am no expert, in fact I hardly play at all these days and prefer watching/commenting on Bridge Winners, but is there any need for this kind of unnessecary dig? I should have included that the opponents didn't have firm agreements, and I'm in no denial about my own ability, but come on this is well out of line in my opinion, especially as you must have seen my hundreds of posts in the past (initially in the B/I section might I add!)
  2. [hv=pc=n&w=sj976hkt98d86c752&e=sq4haq54daq972ca9&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=ppp1dp1hp4hpp]266|200[/hv] Lead 5 ♠ to ace ♠2 to king T♠ How would you play this? Thanks, Eagles
  3. As per usual your partner was hopeless, as has been said it's close between 2H/X and X/X, but your choice was perfectly reasonable. Your partner passing 4S with that hand just shows very poor judgement.
  4. I agree with others, W chose a great time to go rogue. It happens, move on.
  5. I think passing is clear with this type of hand. Of course it can lead to a disaster, but then again bidding can lead to a disaster.
  6. [hv=pc=n&n=saj72h73dk4cj8652&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=pp1dp1nppp]133|200[/hv] On the actual hand it didn't matter, but was unsure what the best lead was here. Thanks, Eagles.
  7. 1S for sure, passing has disaster written all over it.
  8. a TOX double on this hand is a beginner level bid, even if someone has been playing 50 years, if they double with this, either they've missorted their hand or their bidding is still at a beginner's level.
  9. so your partner has 4 card support, 2 aces, and blames you for this auction lol? passing over 2H vul at imp is madness imo, just way too many hands that have play for game.
  10. your partner's double is just plain wrong. Even if she wanted to show a "Too good to overcall" hand, which this hand clearly isn't, why the need to jump to 4D?
  11. Played with Vampyr once and lived to tell the tale  (She was lovely) also played with Cyberyeti who was also great, unfortunately I was nervous and forgot how to play bridge! Played with Alex (Wank) a couple of times, great guy A few big names in JEC matches as well, but don't really trust any of them in hindsight with his tendency to hire cheats. Although Versace, who is by all accounts a good'un, bidding 7D off the Ace of Diamonds was a good lesson in even the best get it wrong sometimes. And my favourite story, me and my partner Ronnie played the ACOL invitational pairs maybe 2017/2018. Ronnie is one of the nicest blokes you could ever meet, but the bridge is questionable, the system is very limited, i.e. regular blackwood. Anyway we got to the vugraph table against Zia/Bakshi and first board we bid to 6N! .... okay, 7N+++++ is laydown, but still fun against two world class players we bid to a slam in our first vugraph showing :)
  12. this is one of the best posts I've ever seen on this forum.
  13. your partner's bidding was absolutely pathetic.
  14. With respect I think Mike's description of North's pass over 1D as "Unduly conservative" is pretty generous. I doubt any good player would pass here unless needing a swing.
  15. I would put the stop card out and then bid 2S, thus signalling a max 2S bid.
  16. I've always preferred Landy and the rest natural but then I am boring
