What would you bid? 2NT? I would bid the same way as leeky when partnering a bot (at least as far as the reverse). I won't risk missing a heart game when P is 5S 4H weak.

Ah great, thanks. How did you find this out of interest? It would be good if BBO made it more accessible. As far as I can see you can't access it from the homepage and it's not listed in the GIB system notes (which to be honest are not very accurate anyway).

Agreed. In fact even "rebiddable" is bad. We should be entitled to the definition of what makes a suit "rebiddable" for the robot as it must meet some precise criterion no? Lack of full disclosure.

What has happened to the new topic which was titled "Top bridge players convicted of gross tax fraud"?

I can sympathise with this deletion but what constitutes an inflammatory title is quite subjective. If the title and content is factually misleading and inaccurate I would be more inclined to ban it. However, the OP in question linked to an article with the facts of the case so in my honest opinion the deletion was ott. I really hope it was not my doing by mentioning the BW mods! The mods at Bridgewinners err on the side of deleting posts and I think this is totally the wrong approach. In their favour I will say that they are very good at suspending trolls once their behaviour is established. They got rid of one particularly poisonous poster there and then subsequently banned him when he posted under a pseudonym. I will add that I appreciate that this forum has this thread so that mods get accountability when they delete. Thanks.

This is hilarious. Is this the advanced bot?

I've mostly given up reporting on GIB's errors (sorry devs - I know you put in hard work but it is just not worth the effort any more. I think if people report errors and follow the reporting deadlines they should get a response). But this one really tilted me. http://tinyurl.com/ybth3v6e I passed 5N because GIB's description said it promised exactly two diamonds - maybe a bad call I don't know. My QJxxx doesn't look so great any more. In fact GIB had AKx!! I can understand when GIB struggles with its set of rules and ends up with some bad descriptions. What I can't understand is why its bidding sometimes does not match its own descriptions.

I don't see why it should be wins that matters at least in the first stage. I have no doubt that the fairest way to determine who has been playing the best bridge is who has finished top.

broze 29 - derppp 26 Sorry don't have access to the link right now. (Can't access the client and for some reason the My Hands database does not contain challenge hands. Why not!?)

Double now. Imo bidding initially is insane. Agree with Timo that you should strive to overcall 2C over 1D where possible but doing it with a flat hand and a bad 5 card suit is asking for -1100 -

Double and then pass -
An easy 4D over 4C

Of course I mean too strong for 2C followed by 2H. Rebidding 2N is right on values but simply a misdescription of the hand. Re cyber's hands above I would not pass the first one with a singleton in partner's suit; the second one I accept but is a tiny risk. I don't forsee a problem after 1H (1s) p (3s) dbl. I'd hugely prefer this to 2c (2s) p p
-
I agree it is. ;) Too strong for 2N not strong enough for a GF 2C
-
I also bid 1♥ and I don't think it's close. Two reasons: firstly it gives us more room to find the best game. Secondly, your hand is not even that strong. If partner passes 1H we are not missing game and 1H might be our best spot.

Whose hand is this?

I would bid 4S initially. Having bid this way (which I don't necessarily hate) I would pass 5D. -

I had a similar situation in a tournament yesterday when we had a fp misunderstanding and were +300 when +650 was available. My partner and an opponent both said it was a clear fp when we have freely bid a vulnerable game against non-vul opponents. I did not think pass was forcing. For reference the auction was 1C (1S) 2H (2S) 4H (4S) p p x. We are now thinking of playing fp here. Thoughts Timo? -
Thanks for the game sieong and thanks to the organisers. I also won my stratification in the irl tournament so clearly this was good practice!
